Sam was shot and the bullet was really meant for Jason. It hit her in her lower abdomen and there were a lot of complications. At first they thought they would have to perform a hysterectomy, but it didn't come to that. There was a lot of scar tissue and damage though and she was told that if she were to get pregnant chances are she wouldn't be able to carry the baby to term. The chances of her actually having a baby are really slim and they basically told her it would be a miracle if she did.
