Who said that this huge machine was made to collide small particles only after all. May be it is some kind of new tech weather control device or something else.
What ever Engineer / Mad Scientist that was responsible for this latest technical clitch / set-back, should be immediately sent to live the rest of his life in Siberia.
This is totally unacceptable.
Also
What if these $9Billion spent on this, was instead spent on the hungry and homless people in the ghettos of Africa and Youngstown, Ohio ?
What is totally unacceptable, LiptonGuy is not understanding that basic science research yields great results. This is the same line of questioning by physicists which led to computers, nuclular power, transitors, lasers, and is the same exact technology used to cure people of cancer (gamma scalpels, etc.).
The truth is that is it science which is doing the most for the hungry and homeless. If it wasn't for modern science we wouldn't even be able to feed the world's population.
your only thinking of short term solutions. what is feeding the homeless going to do in a world of finite resources? sure it could get them fed but that doesnt make them more likely to get a job or pay off their bills any better once the relief has run out. scientific research provides long term solutions, without it we wouldnt have cheap food like we do today thanks to preserving techniques, and we wouldnt have medicine. we wouldnt have the heating machines to warm our houses
Hahaha, Godtron, let me tell you something: if every scientist who ever lived on this planet thought the same way like you do, we'd still be living in caves and hunting animals with spears. And if you want to be taken seriously, quit swearing :-). It only makes you look even more like an idiot.
And yes, the post I am quoting is already from 1 month ago. But I just wanted to say this :-).
Dont get me wrong you fucks. I would like to know more about my universe and perhaps even how the planets were formed or born out of, but I'd would rather have all these scientists (7000 is still a baby number of people) launched into mars and conduct their experiments there instead of our planet.
I feel like people on youtube think that these scientists are stupid. These people eat, live, and breath physics. Whos going to make a more vaid point, a person with a highschool education or a scientist who spent most of their life studying physics. This kind of knowledge makes Harvard and MIT look like pre-school. Nobody has anything to worry about and just be greatful that these great scientist exsist to help us answer our true origins, this is a massive step in mankind.
you are absolutely right my friend! it is not easy to become a scientist. these people are genius. i honestly laugh at others who are afraid of this experiment. they are just talking a lot of rubbish! thanks for your genuine comments.
I like how many doubters that are in this post... For one benefit of this could be a limitless energy source... in otherwords the next great age of our civilization could come about through this experiment... and this is not some small group of scientists... you think you can raise 9 billion dollars if you cannot substantiate your theories to a great degree....???? or course they cant .. there are so many ignorant people in this world... Ill bet half you haters dont even know basic physics
Somebody fucked that up when they were building it. Theres bound to be tons of other fuck ups all over this thing they can't detect yet because its so big. In my opinion there is more chance of this going badly wrong than working in the slightest.
First off, if in fact the damaged occurred the way the scientist claim it did, it would mean that there is a fundamental design flaw with the construction and or materials used by the LHC.Just going in and fixing it,would be like putting on a band-aid.The type of damage described would require the entire project to be re-analyzed for no less than 1 yr,to study the reasons for failure.2 months is not enough,to study and analyze the reasons for failure.
A small solenoid valve failed. It has nothing to do with the actuall accelerator other than in handles helium. Unless you have the design blue prints to show what the hell your talking about, shut up. You just like making something out of nothing.
The absolute circumstance is incredible! The Scientist involved with the LHC project, can't even detect when Helium has leaked and damaged the LHC. They have no way of detecting defects prior to the experiment. Yet they want us to have faith that the LHC will be safe for Earth, and all life forms which exist on it.
The arrogance of the Scientist involved with the LHC project is immense. Its an absolutely foolish arrogance thats going to get us all killed!
So I'm sure you'll come back and express how thoroughly wrong and ignorant you are when the World doesn't end, right? Talk about arrogance, you're assuming you know more than dozens upon dozens of Ph D's in Physics and other more specialized fields of science. Is there ANYTHING that is not a N.W.O. conspiracy? Seriously? And no, that does not mean there's a fundamental design flaw, one of the people building it could have just simply fucked up, once, on one spot. You don't know shit.
"The type of damage described would require the entire project to be re-analyzed for no less than 1 yr,to study the reasons for failure.2 months is not enough,to study and analyze the reasons for failure."
Who the fuck do you think you are? You're just making shit up. Do you think you work at CERN or something? Maybe it doesn't need to be analyzed because they are so on top of shit that they already know exactly what happened and like was explained in the video, will take 2 months to fix.
They don;t want you to have faith, they want you to read and learn. Btw, the leak did not go undetected buddy. A solenoid valve failed due to a short and cause a high pressure He leak. By the time they could isolate it about one short tonne of He had escaped. They detected it immediately.

whatever happened to the fact that the so called "big bang" was nothing but a scientific "THEORY". Aka an educated guess. Are we to be that arrogant and believe that our little brains can actually explain what happened at the very beginning of our universe's creation?
Dark ages? Explain how the use of the LHC will prevent us going backwards a few hundred years. lolz.
No no.. Asking is one thing. Developing a costly toy to quench the thirst of a small handful of arrogant scientists is another.
I find this experiment unnecessary. People come on here saying that this experiment will change our lives in positive ways. I would like to know HOW though.
A small handfull is 7,000 I guess right? This is the largest international collaboration of scientific effort ever attempted. The LHC prevents us from going back by moving us foward, in leaps and bounds. This device wil show us the conditions at the formation of the universe. And you say unnecessary? What we learn from this will complete Newton, Einstein and many others. M-theory will either be validated or shown to be wrong in some aspects. Unnecessary? read more books...
You do not know jack shit about anything. Unless you're one of these guys working on it, do not talk or respond to my replies. Live life kid. Live life. Condescending son of a bitch.
Awe poor baby did I hurt your feelings? I do know jack shit about this actually, as I am a nuclear propulsion engineer. When I go to work I see 8 nuclear reactors everyday. Where do you work? You asked a question and I attempted to answer it. I also gave a retort to your uninformed statements. I'm sorry if you think I'm condescending but I can respond to whomever I want. If you don;t want people doing that, don't post yourself. And wth is live life supposed to mean? Implying I don't?
Sorry if you think that scientists ar arrogant. Sounds like your very religious or something, but if not it's still a weird position. The goal of a scientist is to discover and learn. How that is arrogant or can be percieved as such is beyond me. Scientist are some of the modt humble people I know because they acknowledge the fact that what we don't know far exceeds what we know. The LHC is another attempt to turn that fact around. Again I ask unnecessary? No. Needed.
How the hell is this in any way related to Dir En Grey in youtube search?!
