"Hardcore" kids joined together because of their liking for the same music and as a way to release their anger in a postive way, not because they all dissed government and religion. Now granted i bet there are plenty who do, but I don't believe the majority do that. I think you have it mixed up with the "punks" who did completley rebel and were anti government.

@SoLegit112 hardcore is short for HARDCORE PUNK. it IS suposed to be political, hardcore used to stand for change and revolution not nikes and fitted hats. and hardcore is'nt about being positive, there are plenty posi hardcore bands but there are just as many negative. its both cause its human. hardcore can be w.e. you want it to be, politcal or not posi or negative. it doesnt matter. i dont want to be a dick, just voicing MY OPINION.

Anyone that listens to modern hardcore and disses RATM are stupid fucks. Hardcore started out as being people who had the balls to go against religion and government. No band did that better than Rage. Now honestly it seems like people get into hardcore for pop and diss everything else, bunch of fucking sheep. And most hardcore bands write love songs & shit like that now. It's people who follow that blindly that make me believe Bill Hicks was right when he said, "Hitler was an underachiever!"

I could definitely tell Morello had a huge influence on Tom's playing (as well as the rest of the band), with the grooviness of it, all the little weird effects and things, the pissed off vocals and lyrics with a strong message, so I'm not surprised they would do a RATM song. Good shit!
