i looked at this island in google earth, and its just trees. either they hav huts built into the trees and hidden by the forest, or its been covered with trees on google earth to try and stop people looking but the second one is unlikely.
For those who think they should be contacted. Here's my reason why they shouldn't: Diseases. Europeans killed most native populations of the Americas, Australia, and the Pacific Islands through disease, not by shooting them. They've lived without those diseases since time immemorial, and introducing them now would be disastrous and might wipe out the entire Sentinelese people.
Here's a fact: There are barely a few hundred of these people, any dangerous diseases in their midst can kill them all.

How do you know they want to be left alone? They do not know anything about the outside world. Some might argue they deserve a choice. Would you deprive them of the choice? Do they not deserve it? Because they would need to be informed a bit and interact in order to make any such choice. Right now we don't know what they want. I don't know why people like the Sentinelese are constantly being given such a bad rap. They don't commit 'honor killings', blow themselves up on buses in Tel Aviv or trains in Madrid or fly airliners into skyscrapers in Manhattan.

i looked at this island in google earth, and its just trees. either they hav huts built into the trees and hidden by the forest, or its been covered with trees on google earth to try and stop people looking but the second one is unlikely.

For those who think they should be contacted. Here's my reason why they shouldn't: Diseases. Europeans killed most native populations of the Americas, Australia, and the Pacific Islands through disease, not by shooting them. They've lived without those diseases since time immemorial, and introducing them now would be disastrous and might wipe out the entire Sentinelese people.
Here's a fact: There are barely a few hundred of these people, any dangerous diseases in their midst can kill them all.

Why shouldn't they be known by our presence and that they have an option to learn from us? We are talking about humanbeings, families, and individuals that might get sick, killed or in fight with the clan. Where should an outcast travel to, when it's just an island and there is nowhere to go? If you support killing, cannibalism, torture, sickness and don't care about them, then you don't do anything.

Haplogroup D* is found only on Andaman islands. Haplogroup D1 is found at a low frequency in South-West China and Tibet, hapologroup D2 is found only on Japanese archipelago, haplogroup D3 is found in Tibet and parts of Central Asia.

These are the most isolated people on earth because they have been quite consistently hostile over many years to any outsiders, including those bearing gifts. If aliens came to our world and we fought them off, we would hope that they would eventually take the hint. Luckily the Indian government finally made it illegal to land on the island a few years ago. They can be killed with seasonal flu; we outsiders are the great, murderous evil to them. How do you know they want to be left alone? They do not know anything about the outside world. Some might argue they deserve a choice. Would you deprive them of the choice? Do they not deserve it? Because they would need to be informed a bit and interact in order to make any such choice. Right now we don't know what they want. They certainly could have benefited from measles vaccinations we could have given them to stop something like 30% of their population from being wiped out.

If you grew up on a tiny island with seemingly endless water surrounding you, thinking this was all there was would you not like to be informed to make the choice of whether or not you wished to continue to live the way you do? I would. I would also probably like to learn how to start fires because these people do not know how to start fires. Imagine that. I never said I thought we should go in there I just think it is an interesting issue. That's why I said "Outsiders often F things up." It is VERY likely that the reason they avoid contact with other humans is that they are afraid. As for the fire bit, I read it on a web page which had information. It said they are BELIEVED to be the last or one of the last groups of people to learn how to start their own fire. They instead wait for lighting fires to start and collect and maintain the fire.

@pem82sox I dont understand how that makes sense, Tasmania is an island, if one tribe one the island knew how to make fire then the odds are all of them would learn sooner or later. Or unless you mean they sailed to mainland Australia to "borrow" it from the aborigenes there, which doesnt make sense either because the fire would go out, it would be almost impossible to keep it going while roving a boat without sinking or burning the boat(s)

Keeps us safe from the unknown and ensures the survival of our particular society. The Sentinelese have only survived as long as they have because they shoot anyone who isn't one of them.
