@maxwel2543 Dave was already creating his own tapes at this point. He had been making music on his own, bass drums and guitar in all and made his own mix tapes. A few months after Kurt's death he spread them out and from there they made them into hands of producers and such. I wouldn't have seen Dave leave the band they were really close. But im not Dave nor Kurt or Krist so I have no idea, there's no way to tell what could've happened. Such a tragic end to Nirvana. RIP Kurt

well nirvana have created they're own creative way to smashing there equipment like the head first throw technique cobain has notably done on many occasions like at the one of this half done of course but he uses that guitar throw alot, but the reason they did it other than the encore thing was also cuz they thought it was fun and it was a climax, but krist has said in the past kurt would get mad and smash the equipment that was the first time than after that they felt it was a celebration also

The only instrument that actually was destroyed beyond repair was Krist' Gibson Ripper bass which suffered a snapped off headstock, the Fender guitars that Kurt and Pat were playing survived reasonably intact. Kurt even managed to play something on his Fender after submitting it to such harsh treatment. With a Fender one can just bolt a new neck on, so I wouldn't be surprised if that particullar guitar was repaired and used again the following night.
He used and Electro harmonix Small clone chorus box (most notably on "Radio friendly unit shifter" and "Come as you are"), a Boss DS2 distortion box and an Electro Harmonix Big Muff overdrive pedal.

Actually, if you read the biography "Heavier Than Heaven," it confirms that they did smash their instruments to either get off the stage early or keep from playing an encore on a regular basis, not just the first time. I remember seeing them years ago and they just destroyed everything!

ok I really would like to know this at like 1:21 is this not the grunge pedal?(purple) It sure looks like it. I know he used the ds1 and ds2 for later stuff but many sites say he never used the grunge saying it was stupid. If anybody knows anything about this plz tell me lol

ok to answer this its a boss pedal i don't remember the name but it wasn't the grunge pedal by DOD he had one for one show threw it out in to the crowd and called it a joke
