Sin is not the "cornerstone" of Christianity. It's an element. Before sin, there must be a Man, and before Man there must be a Creator. The Creator gave out one order that was disobeyed. Hi Rene, Of course sin is a central theme. No sin = no need for a Savior. We are fully aware of this. Wondering why you call actions or behaviors that harm others imperfections? Do you hold judgements of what right or wrong is? To speak about harm and make judgements of "harsh realities of the world" is a transcendental view of the world. As is viewing children as "untainted" - that's a judgement, not some absolute reality.
@pdderek God does know everything, but that is where free will comes into play. He gave us the gift of free will, to govern oursleves and to be responsible for our actions. He knew that some will not accept him and he knows that some will. He is not going to force you to follow him. It is a personall choice. He was not surprised by Satan's and our behavior. The whole bible is based on the redemption not sin because sin has already damned us (we die). The Old Testament deals with life under the law. consequences and repentance with the promise of the coming Messiah. The New Testament deals with the appearance. death and resurrection of the Messiah and the age of Grace and his final return and judgement. Without redemption you can throw the whole book away.
@hrep14 Actually the Old Covenant Scriptures deals with living with faith as does the Renewed Covenant Scriptures do. With out faith we are nothing and just as the Old Scriptures gave commandments so did the Messiah. Without sin there is no need for salvation. Duh. Is sin a real thing? As an alcoholic or drug addict. Sin is very real. The fact that you don't BELIEVE that you are a slave to whatever sin owns you doesn't negate the reality of sin. Denial isn't the answer.
But trying harder not to sin is NOT the answer either. Jesus didn't die on the cross in order to guilt us into trying harder for God. If we could try hard enough, Jesus didn't have to die.

Sin is not the "cornerstone" of Christianity. It's an element. Before sin, there must be a Man, and before Man there must be a Creator. The Creator gave out one order that was disobeyed. The whole bible is based on the redemption not sin because sin has already damned us (we die). The Old Testament deals with life under the law. consequences and repentance with the promise of the coming Messiah. The New Testament deals with the appearance. death and resurrection of the Messiah and the age of Grace and his final return and judgement. Without redemption you can throw the whole book away.

@hrep14 Actually the Old Covenant Scriptures deals with living with faith as does the Renewed Covenant Scriptures do. With out faith we are nothing and just as the Old Scriptures gave commandments so did the Messiah. Whether if you were around the ties of Abraham or today, without faith we are doing nothing more then living a legalistic life (like the Pharisees during Yehua's (Christ's) time on earth). Without sin there is no need for salvation. Duh. Is sin a real thing? As an alcoholic or drug addict. Sin is very real. The fact that you don't BELIEVE that you are a slave to whatever sin owns you doesn't negate the reality of sin. Denial isn't the answer.
But trying harder not to sin is NOT the answer either. Jesus didn't die on the cross in order to guilt us into trying harder for God. If we could try hard enough, Jesus didn't have to die.

All that is very well and good but I know how my bad choices ruined lots of lives. Left to myself, I can never overcome these dysfunctions.
The first step to recovery is to admit that you are powerless to stop destroying yourself. I live that first step every day.

The law of conservation of energy and matter states that energy may neither be created nor destroyed. Therefore the sum of all the energies in the system is a constant. The cosmos didn't form itself! There are few, very few in this world who we can call "good" people, I think you would acknowledge that, it's why the world sucks. I would go so far as to say there are no "good" people. I think your emphasis on sin is misguided. It’s true that we need a savior because of our sins, but this need does not place sin as preeminent. Christianity is the religious system that places Christ and his revelation to mankind at the center of our faith system. Sin is rooted in pride, executed in disobedience, and ultimately devolving the human condition into disorder. Christianity is the search for truth.

2. Your premise is flawed and thus the conclusion is flawed. You claim the corner stone of Christianity is sin, but sin is a consequence not not a condition. By definition sin is a transgression, which is an action and not the noun.
