  • This is amazing! They both have so much i common, in so many different ways.:)

  • Both horses and riders look stunning. I love how they both are sporting smiles on their face. Unlike the youtubers here saying "Go western" or "Go Dressage", TheseTRUE equestrians in this video understand its not the tack that makes them look good out there but instead their seat, their leg aids, their hands, their compassion and their relationship with their teammate.

  • WESTERN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • That western rider came no where close to riding the dressage horse well.....just sayin!

  • Wow the western rider knew how to ride the dressage horse better than the dressage rider knew how to ride the western horse <3 loveee iittt :)

  • I love this so much ! <3

  • Brilliant riders! The lot of them!

  • GO WESTERN !!!

  • that dressage rider was put to shaaaaaame

  • Big smile on my face :)

  • AAaaaaaa, magnificooo.

  • This was a good video two completely different types of horses and style, both equaly wonderful to watch.

  • Guys, does it matter about who is better ? Riding is riding.

  • western horses always looks like so saaad!

  • @zapkorte I think western quarter horses always look sad, but if you look at Morgan Western Pleasure they love what they do and are very prety:)

  • Go western much!! Love it how a cowboy can get in a dressage horse and do even better lol XD

  • Dressage is best hands down.

  • Dressage RULES! It is so captivating and requires absolute connection between horse and rider, and that's what I care about most. Everything is so precise and elegant, yet breathtaking, and it is so hard. I will always live dressage the most!! It is the foundation of all riding. It is found in wild horses, jumping, cross country, and-yes-, even western.

  • English sucks western is awesome. thats all i got to say ;)

  • This just goes to show that all riding has the same basics. It shouldn't matter what saddle you ride in.:)

  • loved this

  • I ride english but I love western :L

  • all out western wooot go cowboy...

  • Western was best on 0:39 the Dressage horse could not stand still as the Western horse stood perfectly, feet square, not resting, just standing lookig amazing. I ride and judge Western and Englesh. I judge all around Englesh and Western. Around were I work and at 4-H I beleive I wouild know. I make money, good money judging shows like this one don't take good comments on the little things that count and through them away, take them and use them for well.

P.S.Don't hate me because I am right.

  • Makes me proud to be a dressage rider!

  • WESTERN <3 xxxx

  • beautiful,.. but you seeing that the person that riding dressage having a little bit more effort has with the western horse than the person that riding western ;)

  • @dhychi that is because western is more relaxed not tense and prancing all around

  • i have respect for both, but western looks and in my oppinion is more natural. it just seems more relaxed. i have respect for all, but i prefer western. :)

  • WESTERN!!!! <3

  • WESTERN ALL DA WAY!!!!

  • "Doesn't matter the way you ride, most important thing when you ride is LOVE..." That's what I understand seeing this amazing show !! ♥ LOVE IT ♥

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • That's the thing I like about "cowboys" they can jump on any horse and still look like they own the horse! GO WESTERN!

  • Both beautiful horses and beautiful ways to ride them :D

  • 6:38 is she singing opera!?xD

  • Both horses are definitely very very good examples of their "use". And both riders had so much fun, nice idea :)

  • I think the quarterhorse look so much more relaxed than the dressagehorse!

  • Country Roads!~ <3

  • I have ALWAYS wanted a dressage horse. I love dressage, and even though I may be in 7th grade, I'm one of the best dressage riders at my barn. <3

  • The riders look like there having a blast!

  • That warmblood has a fantastic extended trot. I loved when they switched horses!

  • 1:39 way cool!

  • I love how when they stand and salute at the beggining, the western horse is just standing there and the english one's all hyped up, but when they switch the english one's like whatever and the western one's like, "You're not my person!!!"

  • lol 1:42

  • well, too bad western riders...is the western horse much farther behind the vertical, boo!

  • wie geil =D

  • wow.. this was wonderful :D

  • WESTERN! no effense to english

  • That was really neat and cute :D

  • That was actually a really fast circle for the dressage horse!

  • @xxburnyoudown The western horse slowed down with the dressage rider too, I noticed. X]

  • I am a horseman :) Doesnt matter what saddle i use...

  • I am a western rider but I love the swag of a dressage horse. LOVE IT>

  • I think people just watch these videos to argue with riders of the other discipline. Let's just start a full on war over which discipline is more abusive, or mean, or stuck up, or more skilled!

  • I like english but still I prefer having my western horn to hold on to lol

  • Fighting is useless all the different dissiplens are amaizing and fun. And it's good to sometimes mix it up. Me and my friend tried barrel raceing with our eventers and it helped them with our roll backs. So it may not be the disiplin that you ride but that's no excuse to be mean or fight about it. Soget youhead outta your but and stick together in this sport. And just rember anyone can ride it just takes skill to stay on!

  • @FaithfulTradition ive seen many barrel racers with no jumping experience (including myself but im not that good) be able to jump their horses better than some english riders ive seen that have had training. it is not as hard as you make it seem :) and as for you can go "faster"? have you ever heard of barrel racing and reining? ya much faster :) so before you say anything, why dont you try barrel racing or reining? maybe then you would learn to have some respect for all equestians

  • How come the English rider always pushes the Western rider? LOL - just observing here (;

  • @FaithfulTradition Who said I was female?

  • @FaithfulTradition ACTUALLY! A horn means NOTHING! so don't even try that. I ride a horse that does ALL disciplines so shut your face. And I don't see westerns hyperflexing the horse in pain to be "pretty" or to look professional. Go learn more about horses and stop trying to make yourself look "all that" cause you clearly don't know what you're talking about. Time for me to go jump western and maybe do some reining in my dressage saddle.

  • Comment removed

  • @6horsecrazygurl9 Did you get involved for no reason? Yes, now screw off.

  • @FaithfulTradition If you think western is so stupid and for uncool people why do barrel race and pole bend? I'm done with you, little child, grow up and learn to spell.

  • @FaithfulTradition No, I don't "got that." You obviously have a lot of growing up to do. If you were spinning around barrels and poles as fast as I am, I wouldn't be surprised if you had to hang on. You may have been riding since you were born, but so have I. Let me know when you've been brought up to my level experience.

  • Lol! Great vid. Would never happen where I live though. If a dressage guy and a western guy were to stand so close to each other at any given point one of them would get a flattened nose.

  • Comment removed

  • I love how smooth the motions are on the horses. I'm rather fond of the movements of Dressage, but I prefer the tack of western. Beautiful horses! I hope I can do this some day!!

  • @FaithfulTradition You, my dear friend, are highly uneducated. Have you ever ridden western? I can judge for myself because I HAVE ridden both english and western.

  • @FaithfulTradition How are we not cool? I ride western and my horse goes faster than most english horses we ride with! They're both great, and since I ride BOTH english and western, they're the same aids, the same everything, except the few differences that is only the tack change and the reining aids.

  • Wow :D

  • Awesome!!

  • Plus, I'd give anything to get that extended trot out of any horse, let alone one I hadn't ridden very much or at all!!!

  • Both horses are moving very well for the sport they are used for. I love that the western horse is NOT a peanut-roller! Spirit, movement, and a little attitude; something lacking in the "western pleasure" arena. Nothing is more fun than a very tall, formally turned-out dressage rider riding a stout western reiner; think the other rider does dressage :) Loved this video- and for HunterJumper64, I had the benefit of watching it with the sound off so I didn't get distracted by anyone yelling... ;P

  • @miskaffon if i'm not mistaken, I believe that's a reining horse.

  • Beautiful and beautiful ending... great performance for both, funny music and funny exercises!! I ride english but I andmit that the western horse was possibly even better than the dressage horse... great horses, great riders: they show the real spirit of this sport!

  • j'aime!!!!

  • What an awesome video! Good on them for swapping at the end, that was brilliant :) x

  • I think the dressage horses movements jjust have so much energy and implusion.Power. Where as that quarter horses reining/cutting skills would be so handy for hacking and working cows. I really like how they traded horses in the end :D At the end the Dressage rider got a couple rad one tempis from the quarter horse <3

  • the western horse looks definately way more content to the dressage horse

  • Really cool :). I still prefer dressage and i thought the dressage rider was better, the horses were both really good but i like the dressage horse better.

  • love it!! <3 amazing! beautiful performances!

  • wow love this go english

  • Gorgeous horses, but the woman "woooooing" needs a gag.

  • GEIL :D

  • wie geil ist das denn ,,,,, juhuuuu endlich mal was richtig geiles

  • that is a beautiful reiner <3

  • That's awesome!!!

  • This is a great video!! I think it shows that whatever discipline your riding dosen't matter, what matters is were riding and working with 1,000 pound animals!! This shows both disciplines rock!:D And I just want to say that the Western horse looks exactly like my Western/English horse Calvin!! Except he's bay!! But they both ride the same!!:D

  • This is a wonderful video! I was not really ever a fan of western, but now I can see... it really is all one in the same just presented differently.

I was surprised to see them change horses. I also love to see the two riders having so much fun :)

  • Western! <3 XD I love how the western guy knows how to get the dressage horse to move but the dressage guy cant seem to get the western horse to do what he wants XD Love it XDDDD

  • @quarterhorse631 Neither of them rode the other horse as well as they rode their own. But that's to be expected, isn't it? The dressage rider didn't do spins that were as good, but the cowboy didn't do canter pirouettes that were as good either.

  • i don't get it all i see is overflex horses with pain bits in their mouth :/ NOT beauty

  • @enricogis

That song, at 4:15, is not from Legends of the Fall, but rather from the wonderful movie, Dances with Wolves.

  • Hahah! I love both!! :D Both horses are sooooo pretty :) I do a type of western dressage loll

  • wow lol look at the size comparison in the breeds, i'm guessing the dressage horse is a warmblood and the western is a qh?

  • @alyssaAPHA The western horse is a Morgan Horse its neck is higher up on its sholder even though its head looks a little low and its head is more refined than a Quarter Horse. :)

  • Western <3

  • @HunterJumper64

    so true

  • Please someone knows the name of the song playing at 4:15 when they change the horses???thanks in advance!!

  • @enricogis

I think it's "legends of the fall" by james horner. instrumental version.

  • @ethbarry

i heard the entire movie's soundtrack...but itsn't that!! if u have the link please post it, thank you very much!!!

  • @ethbarry the song is from the movie Dances With Wolves.

  • @ethbarry Yup, that's it. Molly Mason and Jay Unger. Love their music. I play it all the time in my store, people love it.

  • @enricogis Look up One Upon A Time In The West - The Man With The Harmonica

  • @enricogis: It should be the maintheme of the Movie "Dances with wolfes"

    greetings

  • @enricogis The piece of music is Highland Cathedral

  • @enricogis

It was the theme in Dances with Wolves composed by John Barry

  • loved it soo much :)

  • That was an awesome video :D

  • Both horses are so beautiful! It's really cool to see Western riding and Dressage riding literally side by side. Both horses and riders are really amazing to watch!

  • i like the dressage horse the best

  • I think english is prettier but western,in my opinion, but western is alot more fun

  • Awesome! Brilliant demonstration of true horsemanship! But who are they?

  • I remember I saw them at equine affair in ohio and I was sunned by the dressage horse! absolutely stunning! But the western rider did very well also. It just goes to show you can apply dressage to everything :) Loved it! Great job both of them!

  • Fantastic!

  • Beautiful. Dressage is for both English and Western. Dressage is training for human and rider. It never ends. Always working toward better riding & training with communication with a horse. Have you ever seen Eitan "Cowboy Western Dressage"? Can be found on youtube. youtube.com/watchv=aGAoA4dPb2M&feature=player_embedded#at=52

  • love love this video thanks for sharing!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is absolutely the coooooolest! So much fun to watch!! It truly made me smile!! Thanks for sharing!

  • dressage all the way

  • 1.34 - 1.54 <3

  • This is in Germany, right?

  • Both riders are amazing! And the Western Horse is really lovely!

  • This clip shows that there is ni such thing as a good riding style but simply good riding. Absolutely stunnung performance!

  • Lolz that proves that English and western can get along.

  • that a nice western horse, nice english horse. thay are both real freeken awesomely trained. no mater english or western they are both awesome for what they are for. thumbs up if you agree with this.

  • Someone asked me: What's the song that's playing at 1:35 where the horses are dancing side to side? It sounds familiar.

The answer is: Country Roads byJohn Denver

  • This goes to show that a talented rider is a talented rider, regardless of discipline!

  • lol sooo funny

  • I love how everybody commented on how short and lovely the western horse is. This just shows how GREAT Morgan Horses are!!!!

  • If you are interested, look up COWBOY DRESSAGE. It is a great trainer who trains Morgans and believes they should be useful and entertaining and not just show horses. He herds cattle with them and teaches them top level dressage and then drops into the World Championship Morgan Horse show in Oklahoma and wins a few ribbons. He performs incredible victory passes to entertain the spectators. Etian is originally from Vienna and grew up working with horses from a young boy. Excellent.

  • Wow!!!!

  • go western guy :)

  • I love this video. I had seen it a year or two ago and mentioned it to someone recently and they found it and sent me the link. A great example of horses' versatility and riders' flexibility. Made me smile. What fun. Thanks for putting it up. :-)

  • What a great video, I really enjoyed it. Thanks

  • Both are amazing. I am a dressage rider and REALLY admire western riders!

I try not to judge bc every horse sport is so neat...

  • That was AMAZING!!! LOL! Really made me laugh and REALLY made my night!!!!!!!!

  • Love this video!! Great dressage by both riders, horses, and styles.

  • If only Blue Hors Matine was still around.

  • now that was cool!! but I would love to see the dressage horse do a sliding stop :P hahaa!!

  • never ridden western, but i dont dis anyone who rides western, i would love to try western one day though (:

  • I've ridden western for 20+years and am just taking up dressage now. I have a great deal of respect for both disciplines and can see many things in common. It is great to see more people respecting one another for their knowledge and skill.

  • So I thought a freestyle duo with a reiner and an FEI level dressage horse was pretty neat to begin with. I almost fiipped when they changed! Great job to the two riders. Though I found it interesting that the reiner could get a decent pirouette (though it depends on whose standards) but the dressage rider didn't get as good a spin. I wonder if it was the training of the horses or the riders that caused the differences. I highly doubt that one movement is any easier to ask for than the other.

  • @ABonner93 Dressage rider may have been a little apprehensive about going too fast - also had the horse tipped back on his quarters like he did with the dressage horse in pirouette.

Both great riders and horses though - shows how similar the two disciplines are!

  • What an incredible video. Two beautiful animals and fantastic riders. I got cold chills watching it. Who can say one is better than the other.....they are both amazing!

  • There is such thing as western dressage now

  • Brilliant video!!!!! Both horses and riders were amazing. Western and the English both look so stunning. To a previous comment. I wouldn't say that English riders know more in their head. In my experience. Going from western to English is a lot easier then vise versa. As u can see the dressage rider finds it harder when changing horse then the western rider when he went on the dressage horse. I believe they probably have the same amount of knowledge just in different disciplines. I am sorry. I

  • GO LITTLE WESTERN HORSE GOO!! -3

  • Gorgeous vid! I love it! Western combinations always look so much more relaxed than their English cousins :)

  • "DRESSAGE" : A French word which means, simply to "TRAIN". It is used in all disciplines and helps horses to become suple and light to the aids.

This is a wonderful video! Thank you so much for sharing!!!!!

  • This is ancient horsemanship and sound horsemanship meeting. A good trainer makes a good horse. A great trainer makea a great horse. Nice video.

  • I was surprised to see them change horses, but that was awesome! I prefer to RIDE english style, but neither style is "better" than the other.

  • loved when he tipped the hat at 1:42. That looks like so much funn.

  • look how short the western horse is compared to the english ! :) thats sooo beautiful .

  • This video was seriously, amazing. I do love western riding but dressage is really beautiful. I would love to try it someday :)

  • This is one of my favorite videos on here! I love how it looks like they are both having fun :) I find it funny the difference between the two horses, the reining one looks so short!

  • Now no one can say either is better so if you do, your lieing :P

  • I think this is one of the most awesome video's I have ever seen!!!!!! Western or Dressage - it is all about being ONE with your horse!! thank you so oooooo much for sharing!! I always hated it when people looked down on "western" but this just shows how close it really is... one on one with the horse... way to go!!

  • I must be honest, I am personally not a fan of western horseback riding but I love this video ! I am a dressage rider and when I started riding a few years ago, I rode western only. So it is my opinion when I say I prefer english riding. Although, i am very impressed with the reining rider ! I love how his horse looks so relax ! I also love to see the two riders having so much fun :)

  • @mcqueen93295 I learned to ride western, than switched to english also, and I prefer english too!

  • English is much more elegant, but Western is very quick, and mind blowing! I personally like Western more, but I do have to give English some points too! English riders, know way more than Western in my head! Both sports rock!

  • I love this video both are unique and wonderful. I really loved the little Morgan Horse this just shows how great of horses they are agile and quick and the rider used his leg more than anything and the Morgan just went with it being very graceful with a wonderful temperment like all Morgans are.

  • I love how they both try the other type of saddles and loved it and had great fun doing something soo diffrent!

  • The western rider achieves so much yet with so little contact unlike British !! what a natural way to perform dressage the western way I just love it :)))
