Because while Mahatma is somewhat better established South Korean Thrash Metal band, Mellicats is tribute band for Metallica. However, we are to really compare this two countries, Japan have longer history of rock and metal to the point where they have established their own sounds(visual kei is good example) that borrowed from West and yet still is more suitable for Asian aestheticism while South Korea(along with many other Asian countries) really haven't fully developed their sounds and style.

Based upon my experiences of watching Korean TV(I myself am originally Korean), I get the feeling that Koreans uses the term "vs" little differently where they don't necessarily use it to indicate any opposing positions or as if they are "against" each others but many Koreans seem to (mis)use the term "vs" more as simple comparison. Here "Korea vs. Japan" probably meant as comparison between metal musics of two countries. Although I still think this comparison is unfair for Japan.
