@bkendlerA4 And I for the late reply! Thanks Barry - and I've just had a letter from 6201 Chairman saying Lizzie has been granted an extension for main line operations until December 2012. Chris
Excellent footage Chris - what superb light at both locations, and a lovely glint at Greenholme. That location really does afford an excellent view of what must be 3 miles of the climb. Cheers, David.
@Linesider1 Thanks David. I thought the sun would have come round a bit more to make up for the loss of sound but it didn't work out that way. As you say it is a good long shot and, given the standing start, I thought Lizzie managed well. Chris
@Lainiodurrant Hi Elaine. Thanks for the kind comment - the big red lady has been performing well all summer. A credit to her and her keepers (and a joy to see and hear). Luckily I have been able to see her several times but sadly not had the pleasure of a ride behind her. Take care - Chris
Super footage Chris. The climb to Shap was in stark contrast to the Scot the other week when it was a little hazy and the lack of exhaust didn't allow for such a long view towards Shap.
@rab4472 Thanks Mike. A lot clearer this week (and I managed to press the button properly). Just disappointed the sun didn't get as far round as I'd hoped. Chris
Great footage but for once Lizzie was clearly struggling up Shap. A less powerful engine would probably have ground to a halt but with 40k of TE she manages to keep going. She normally bowls up Shap without hardly a missed beat. Many thanks for posting. Regards Dave.
@rosegrovempd1 Thanks Dave. It's been mentioned elsewhere that she came to a halt in the 50mph restriction on the approach to the bottom of the climb. Not sure whether it was an over enthusiastic brake application or whether TPWS kicked but, apparently, there were no adverse signals. So, from a standing, start the performance on Shap with that load doesn't seem too bad to me. Chris
@khankadet . Cheers Chris, all credit to the crew to get the lady up to speed from a standing start. Pity about the slip at Scout Green which pegged any acceleration back somewhat. Lizzie is a very good performer over the WCML and was not going to be beat! Thanks Dave.
@cakebrain I have since been told that instead of the usual run at the climb the train came to a stop in the 50mph speed restriction on the approach and that, coupled with losing her feet at the end of Scout Green, meant she never had the chance to recover. Chris
@khankadet There are two distinct camps Chris, but there are many like myself who enjoy all things related to Railways. Although I prefer steam, diesels have been around far longer...strange old world isn't it.....Keep up the great work....Bob
@acw71000 Thanks Austin. I'm not sure how big a job 46203 would be. I fear, as they haven't already jumped in and done it, that it might be a big one. Chris
shame she wasn't full on barking all the way, good to see the action as it happened, sounded great coming into view, really good show Chris, loved it, cheers.
@noelist I think after the apparent stop at the bottom of the climb they were making a measured attack on the slope Leon. Would have been great to hear her really barking though. Chris
Excellent shots Chris, one of your favourite locos did you proud today and the sound was magic at Greenholme but for me the glint on the boiler was the icing on the cake . Steve
@TheStephengthompson Thanks Steve.Lizzie is still performing well and sounding good. We nearly lost the glint as on the previous northbound unit it had been some way nearer Tebay. Another ten minutes and the sun would have been too far round. Mind you I went that side as I thought the sun would have been further round anyway!!! Chris
Excellent film Chris. Sorry it took me so long to get to see it. Barry

What can I say? Yet another excellent video of my favourite lady in red. Many thanks, Chris. This just made my day, but, oh to be in England.

Brilliant shot of 6201 climbing Shap such a long shot from your position.great camera work "liked" (C&A)

@EMuksteam Thanks C&A. It's a good shot but I was expecting the sun to have got round to that side so Lizzie wouls stand out a bit more. Chris

Superb work Chris, it's good you've included some other motive power doing it's work, that shot of Lizzie on Shap was fantastic....Bob

@robmasterman Thanks Bob. I'm not really sure about including other stuff but it seems only "fair" to give a balanced view of the events. Chris
