Did you use sheet music or just play it? I'd like to play some hymns on my D whistle, but it's hard to find tunes in the right key. There should be a whole tune book of hymns in D for whistle, but I haven't found it yet.

I play by ear ( it's the traditional way of playing the irish whistle ),i rarely i use sheet music, and as for different keys you can play almost every song in the same key, it just won't mix well with the music or if your playing with someone else. Playing by ear makes you pick up a unique style of whistle playing.
