Alonso would take the ball of Carra, make 30+ yard incisive passes linking the forwards. Lucas as a slow, limited, 2 yard side pass merchant, fucks up the team..isolated Gerrard/Torres will continue to suffer while hes there. Aquilani is huge, his mobility (rather than Alonsos long passing) will link the team

Dont be an idiot, Alonso didnt play every game last season! What was the midfield vs Utd at OT..?? Lucas played. He was the best player in pre season, prob our best player vs Spurs & very good vs Stoke. He's just an easy target for fans afraid to say Torres & Gerrard are way below par.
Dont get me wrong we need Aquilani playing instead for the majority of the season but try not to just follow the crowd & slate Lucas regardless of what he does

The stats wernt like that i remember, but even if they did it shows nothing. They could pass around in front of you and do no damage-which they didnt. Possession count for nothing and if you lose the midfield battle you dont win 4-1.

Liverpool had 45% possession at OT...Lucas contributed zilch, wasnt involved in any of the goals, Liverpool won inspite of him.
Start of season, 3 out of 4 league games already Liverpool have looked terrible, losing 2, also losing to Bolton before they went down to 10 men... after Lucas being slow as fuck couldnt get away from his man (happend twice in the same game).

Breaking up play is Mascherano's role, we dont need another who does that (and Lucas does badly giving away free kicks for fun in dangerous areas) and contributes nothing going forward leaving the attackers isolated. Against Villa his own goal crowned it.
Carra has been poor because there is no Xabi infront (who came deep to recieve the ball of him) instead its the dreadful 2 yard passing Lucas playing in the most important position on the field, team will continue to suffer until Aquilani

Indeed, but until Aquilani is fit Lucas must play in that formation. I like him when he attacks but he must do it more. The freekicks and poor tackling is a myth and the own goal unlucky.
The problem for Lucas, is that he is a pass and move player and when nobody moves (movement is poor which it has been so far) he cannot play and since he cannot beat a man he is useless and suffers.

Nope. Until Aquilani gets fit, Gerrard must drop back (as he did against Bolton when 2-1 down) and play Benayoun behind Torres. It was Gerrards 35 yard pass to Kuyt who laid it off for Torres equalizer, the slow 2 yard side pass merchant Lucas cant do it.. hence Gerrard was forced to go back and Liverpool started to play

lol..errr no you cant go on one game, and one inwhich 1st and 4th goals were from long punts that bypassed midfield (nothin to do with Lucas) 2nd and 3rd were directly Gerrard (nothin to do with Lucas). Furthermore United had 55% possession, had more goal chances, Rooney missed a sitter to make it 2-2, when United went down to 10, scoreline became unbalanced

Wow I like what i see... i did watch a few Serie A games, and noticed he was always busy like a bee, but seeing his goals here, he looks to strike at goal from anywhere. liverpool are becoming the new spurs. torres, agger, skrtel and now aquilani, all injury prone. aquilani has just had ankle surgery so he's not going to be fully fit for some time (even if he does pass his medical). you've got to wonder what benitez knows, that the supporters don't.

ian09rush hes quality yano i watch serie a regular and i seen him in the under 21s he was italys captain. his passing is as good as xabis but he plays slide balls better and his shooting is dangerous and unpredictable somethis we miss at liverpool we jus need to get his training sorted and keep him fit romas training is meant to be terrible loads of there players keep getting injured
