Wrong again. I have nothing against Canada. In fact I feel sympathy for it. I just find this Curling game boring like shit and I wonder why it is considered a sport and included in the Olympics when for instance Bowling or Petanque are out. This is the first time I have actually witnessed what curling was. I had the basic idea but what are the others doing with the brushes? Smoothing out the path for the curling stone?

Correct. The ice has a "pebble" of frozen water drops on it, and the sweepers are using friction to temporarily melt the ice drops. There's a fair bit of skill in where and how hard to sweep to direct the rock's path. The yelling is mostly telling the sweepers what to do.
