  • I wonder why there was fog inside an indoor arena now I know and why are people taking pictures when the lights went out? Can't see any action going on.

  • @LeviBranch18

The fog is because the old Boston Garden didn't have proper air condition causing fog.

  • That old building couldn't handle A/C.... It was a bad situation. If the Bruins played a hockey game, and the stadium crew put down the parquet flooring above it for a basketball game, the ice used to make the wood floor cold and then if the basketball players sweat- it would create fresh ice on top causing them to slip and fall.

  • The NHL's rule is crazy. What if a team was up 7-0 and the lights went out? The whole game would be replayed? That hardly seems fair.

  • this is the sign of things ahead for the old boston garden

  • In Boston, the game was broadcast by WSBK.

WSBK's remote truck had it's own generator, and as a result, the station's broadcast continued after the power went out (showing the old Boston Garden with emergency lighting).

  • @altfactor It was carried by NESN, TV38 carried the away games!!

  • Was the entire building out?

  • @tjackson76 Maybe because the same thing happened at the Gahden in 1990 (the lights going out), only in that case, the lights came back on and the game would finish.

  • Thanks for uploading these great videos. :-D

  • what whacky times. never knew the ac was so bad back then...

  • @GoalieRealmUSA They never had an A/C system in the Garden. Not when it opened, not when it closed. The Garden was famous for the fog during hockey games, and also famous for "The Heat Game"--Game 5 of the 1984 NBA Finals between the Celtics and Lakers, where temperatures were well above 95 degrees the entire game...

I just don't know why, especially if the building was multipurpose and supposed to be home to boxing matches, they never put a system in.

  • @HHSGDFootballJPD Actually it was the same for the Quebec Nordiques I think. In 2008 the Colisée was used for the world championship and there were water ponds in front of each nets.

  • @tjackson76 oh thanks man! wanted to see this

  • haha that's funny!
