  • @mubd1234 so the uneducated way?

  • We don't say filet with the gay frenchie AY at the end. We pronounce it as fillit.

  • five times i was thrown out of outback, i came back

  • I knew I saw him somewhere before. I thought he was australian part aboriginal. But he's maori and new zealander

  • a kiwi acting as an australian for an american owned australian restraunt... wow xP

  • Jemaine is "part Māori part European"

  • only in america

  • @CoCoNmAn93 makes no sense does it, americans cant even tell the difference! XD

  • Yeh but, Outback steakhouse isnt even in Australia. But I went to one when I was in America and it was pretty good.

  • so let me get this straight, he is a New Zealander promoting a American resturant to Americans and the resturant is based around Australia

  • Ah sure he's capitalising on knowing that other people won't know the difference. Plus it makes it funnier for the people who do

  • whatever spin you all want to put on he lives in a capitalistic society and money is god. i would litterally do a tampon or std commerical for a large sum of money.

  • JEMAINE!!!!! <3 :D

  • Is he in character as an Australian or as a New Zealanders 'selling out by promoting an Australian style restaurant'! I could appreciate the irony if this was an add directed for an Australian or New Zealand audience, I am just not sure if an American audience would not quite see it. Maybe I am just looking too much into it!

    Regardless, gotta love Jermaine

  • Flight of the conchords is pretty popular in the U.S. too, so I bet whoever whatches this would ask the same.

But I have been wrong before....

  • Haven't we all!

  • Jemain is awesome, like Bruce Campbell awesome :D

  • Haha he's from NZ! sell out! :P

  • LOL

  • isnt the slogan for outback no rules

there is no rules sayin a kiwi cant promote an aussie theme restaurant

  • god i love jemaine

  • Kiwis.... Aussies.... Come on we are all friends!!

Lets not bicker and argue about who's from where!!

    He's from NZ. Big deal.

This kinda stuff is probably what got them writing all that Aussie/Kiwi stuff in the show

we should all be thankful for it!

  • I'm not a Kiwi or Aussie, but it seems as though they're countries like the US and Canada. Not very much difference in the people as they are so close. Of course they are separate by water, and we aren't. So maybe not.

  • I'm Aussie and you're spot on mate. My best mate is a kiwi and when he moved here last year he was noticing a bunch of differences, but after a while we were all the same :)

  • why is he doin an aussie ad

  • This ad aint only for australia because the resturant is in USA and UK so everyone sort of knows who he is anyway.

  • its also in korea, brazil, japan, thailand as well.

  • I was wondering why he sounded like that. His Aussie accent isn't bad, though you can still tell he is a Kiwi!

  • Wait, were these real commercials?

  • Yeah! I remember seeing a few.

I flipped when I realized it was Jermaine. :D

  • Jemaine!

  • guys, who cares it's called ACTING and actors take ACTING JOBS so they can get paid. i'm so sick of all the comments on these Outback commercials "omg but he's not really from Australia!!!". plus this commercial was on like 5 years ago so MOVE ON.

    that said, Jemaine is wonderful.

  • true be dat, but where is he really from? new zeland?

  • Amen Brother! He's a kiwi he acts australlian for money.. man Im irish american I'd act japanese for money. acting

  • plus i dont think as many people know who he is. we only know he's from new zeland cause we know its jemaine... a majority of americans probably think hes just some random australian guy.

  • These commericals are really old, so probably back then I did.

  • ahh jemaine with an auzzy accent it doesnt sound right.

  • yeah but the majority of ppl dnt know the difference

  • I agree, his Australian accent is all like, "where's the car", and his natural Kiwi accent is all like, "where's the car".

    :D

  • lmao

  • lmfao

  • And it's Jemaine xD

  • That guy's rather funny no matter where he's from.

  • He is from New Zealand.

  • You have to admit, Jemaine is hilarious. Just because he isn't from Australia doesn't make him any less funny.

  • that isn't the conversation here, they're trying to understand why they would hire (and why he would accept) doin an australian commercial with the public thinking he's australian (cause honestly, if you didn't know who flight of the conchords were, you'd think he was aussie as well).

  • Well he never really said he was Australian, you just kind of inferred it. I think Panda Express is pretty good. I would do a commercial for them, that doesn't make me Asian.

  • haahahaha mar8les

stop pretending to be rugged so you can impress some americans

    you sound ridiculous

  • haha a fake accent for a fake aussie restaurant. i bet he had a good time kickin around that accent

  • its not that its fake, hes just from New Zealand.

  • yeah it's fake, he really has a new zealand accent. but for the commercial the changed it to ausi

  • ha haaaaaaaaa

  • Did I miss something? Jermaine is from New Zealand, hhe's advertising and "Aussie" restaurant for another country (I'm assuming the US or Canada) - can't you tell the accent difference? It's a joke. PS I do love conchords

  • does he need a reason. i mean, its a boomerang.

  • I don't see how people can't see it's a joke...

Him doing these ads are hilarious, Kiwis should be laughing their heads off, he's making fools of the Aussies.

    It's great haha.

    Aotearoa!

  • Just like we (aussies) will make fools of the Kiwi's tonight in the rugby!!!! - no seriously the Conchords rule.

  • Well 1/2 wasn't that bad right mate :p

  • hey the week i posted it we won lol

  • couldnt they get an aussie to do the ad?

i went to outback steakhouse in sacramento and ate a fried whole onion.

i was born in sydney and have never had a fried whole onion in my life.

    what the hell??

  • yeah thats true bush tucker, many a time have i ate a whole onion in the outback, not fried though, that's for softies - lol

  • WTF he put on an acsent!!! OMG WTF!!!!! Why would he do that to our country?

  • After seeing this ad I looked up the Outback Steakhouse, and my god, they have a dessert called Chocolate Thunder from Down Under! and there's 900 of the motherfuckers all over the world!

For the first time in my life, i"m embaressed to be australian

  • You shouldn't be; the Chocolate Thunder from Down Under is a delicious treat.

  • I work there in Kansas lol... I can't say even I don't get embarrassed saying "mac-a-roo N'cheese" ...that doesn't even make sense!?! But boy is the food good!!!

  • Man i wish i was Aboriginal. This would be the perfect nickname.

  • yay!!!! JEMAINE!!!!! lol he's so silly :P thats why I love him so n___n

  • jermaine!!!!!

  • ...funny as heck how I'd be telling about MY coming return to Outback on the "Boomerang" video! LOL

  • How bloody tragic.

  • i love the way changes his voice to sound Australian :)

    it's cool

  • Heck, I thought he WAS Australian till I looked at his profile. Hey Punger1, I love your Outback commercials. They're funny as heck!

  • OH MY GOD, you yanks have no idea what the difference between Aussie and Kiwi accents is. haha it's not your fault you're American, no racism intended

  • Well, I've never met anyone from New Zealand so you're right. I'd have no way of knowing. Don't worry, no offense taken. I'm hoping to go out there some time next year, and then maybe I'll have a chance to learn my way around down under. So that wasn't an Aussie accent talking about an Aussie restaurant then? Whatever you say about us Joel, I really want a chance to get acquainted with y'all there, especially by studying abroad there. Guess this is a warning to brace myself for more teasing huh?

  • Sounds good, you'll enjoy Australia and New Zealand. No, that was actually a kiwi 'attempting' to use an Aussie accent. But you see, he's actually making fun of americans by making you think he's aussie when he's not. We call that "taking the piss". Sorry, if I seemed unjustly arrogant, I didn't intend it.

  • That's ok. I think it's even funnier in that case. I love those "attempted" Outback Commericals, and I'm just sorry there aren't more of them. Whatever he's trying to do, he (and the other guy) still made me laugh with those "commercials." Sorry if he offends you Aussies, though. I can understand that if it does. I guess it can offend both of us, but I figure I can either take it personally or I can just laugh at the stuff he says. If you're in Perth, hope to see ya there. No hard feelings. :)

  • Perth, naaah. I'm from Newcastle, NSW. The Hunter Valley. Opposite coasts mate. Oh well, enjoy Perth, :P I wish I could go there.

  • I HOPE I can go there! Not a day goes by that I don't think of my high hopes of studying abroad in Australia. By the way, tomorrow I'm going BACK to Outback for the second time in less than a week...lol!! I was just there and was bragging via text to a friend at work about the prime rib I was having and he got jealous. We'd already arranged to get together for dinner and a movie (no, we're just friends. He's 50!), so we decided it would be Outback tomorrow, followed by "Chronicles of Narnia.): )

  • and joelwtfjoel, i'm sure you can tell the difference between the yanks and canucks accents, am i right?

i've trained my ear to tell the difference between aussies and kiwis accents. however i don't think you should be THAT offended by it if a yank can't tell the difference. the thing that should really offended you is when some of my fellow citizens confuse you with the limeys (and they often do).

i know this comes 4 months late, but what the hell?

  • Mate, I wasn't offended, dw :)

  • Lol zeek, I'm from Canada and I can't tell the difference between a Canadian and American accent unless it's a heavy American southern or Brooklyn accent, or a French Canadian accent.

  • not to generalize, but the many canadians i've met haven't been able to. while i admit that sometimes i can't tell if someone is canadian right off the bat, i can usually tell within the first few sentences (one of my friends was so surprised that i was able to tell he was from toronto the first time we met). also you have to admit that there is a big distinction between someone from new brunswick and someone from milwaukee or someone from edmonton and someone from philadephia.

  • man, this is one of the rare American commercials that doesn't have stupid spilled all over it :D.

  • Yeah... Jemaine makes me feel dirty, too, but not in a bad way.

  • lol both times i was thrown out of outback i came back lol

  • Isn't he from New Zeland? =o

  • haha yeah he's a Kiwi. that's what makes it so funny.

  • They're so different I couldn't choose. I like them both. But it is really odd to see Jemaine doing an Aussie accent. I hate seeing artists doing commercials though, it makes me feel dirty.

  • was that a superbowl commercial?????

  • no.

  • LMAO, I love his goofy face.

  • Love ya Jemaine!

  • its a shame, because jermaine is from NZ not Austrailia poor guy must be desperate for a role, thank god flight of the conchords is hittin hbo.

  • thats the whole point i think, hes taking the piss

  • Haha, I love Jermaine

  • lol yay for flight of the conchords!

  • I hate to say this... But its actually quite funny.

  • Who would hate to say that? Jemaine Clement is brilliant!

  • Yea, I love the show he's on with Brett Mckenzie on HBO "Flight oif The Conchords" It's also hilariously stupid like this commercial!

  • in my opinion jemaine is funnier than bret. love em both, but jemaine is the funniest.

  • cuter too

  • Yea, of course! It's supposed to be! "Outback has boomerangs, when you throw boomerangs, they come back. Five times I was thrown out of outback. I came back. LOL
