Cool, trying to do this with the new TARDIS screen, could you elaborate on "animate in After Effects" please, outline some good ways to do it? I had some ideas but none of the seem to work quite that way I would like.

Hey dude.

First off, the new screen is an absolute bitch - I've been trying to get something screen accurate for a few months now, but I've been coming up with limited results.

Anyway, some ideas:

Create a few separate image files for each of your animated elements - for example, the decelleration arrow on the right is made up of three separate elements - the arrow, the dots and the vertical line. Once I've imported the three bits into After Effects,

pre-compose the three elements, align them into the right shape, and then, create some keyframes for each one, and rotate them around, resize them, make them more or less transparent, do whatever you like - then once you're done with your precomp, close it down - then pre-comp all the other elements, then you can keyframe them, move them around, and arrange them in a beautiful tardis screen fashion.

No biggy then :) Lol, OOOKKK, this is going to be a load harder that I originally thought, actually, yes, that's an idea. I could try doing it in Sony Vegas, with only finishing touches made in After Effects. The rotation of images in that would be a bit easier, and then all the tricky bits can be done in AE. I'll try that. Do you know where I can find some better source material for the 2010 scanner? All I have at the mo is a screenshot from s4 ep1. Thanx :)

You're going to have a hard time in Vegas though, the new series one uses a tonne of particle effects, which you'll need to spend a lot of time working out.

get ulead video studio 10 you can save any wmv as a screen saver in it and its well simpler to do.

there's plenty you can use for a mac to do this. It does work, as with anything involving mac use you just have to look. 98Clank98, send me a private message if you want and I'll link you to some programs you could use. Even if you were desperate, you could always just convert it from wmv format.

there is one thats been out as a windows screen saver for about 3yrs i have it got it off a site then, just dug it out and it still works, on xp, don't know if it will work on vista, and the screen saver looks more like the real thing.

I did briefly attempt at rendering it off as a flash video, which I know is possible to use as a screensaver, but the file it rendered off was absolutely huuuuuge.
