any chance you could tell me those chord changes? looks lik a bunch of minor 6's, buts its too fast and the camera keeps changing angles so i cant figure it out. thanks alot man. great videos.
Hey Denis -- thanks for posting all these great clips. You must have some fantastic karma, brother. Keep up the good work. I hope to meet you someday, as my buddies have at DFNW. Anybody who criticizes you is probably just jealous that THEY aren't the one sitting with Stochelo. I'll buy this DVD as soon as I get paid.
dont listen to them dennis, you are awesome. you just need to buy really expensive headphones and listen to Stochelo, Bireli and Django a few hours a day and try to understand where that soul is coming from. I've come to realize if you are not gypsy, odds are strong you wont play that well. You've all the technical knowledge needed, but you are lacking that soul stochelo and bireli have naturally. You cannot force it. The sooner you accept it, the better you will be come and struggle less
@GassyCoke First of all, he does not think all too much in scales. He plays chord related. Thinking in scales when improvising over Gypsy Jazz will make it very mathematical and hard to understand. Notes like the major sixth, minor and major third play a main role. Understanding the harmonic movement (circle of dominand chords, V-I, tenshion - relax, etc.) will help to emphazise those important notes. And finally learning django-quotes in all keys will help understanding this.
ok ok, I'll say things to make you happy people "Dennis Chang is amazing! I can't see his fingers! and his rhythm playing is surprising! Stochelo don't deserves him! he is so good! better than Bireli! Stochelo is so happy playing with him! Dennis is like a god! a rhythm god!" now are you happy!? jajajajajajajaja.
I don't have nothing against Denis Chang, I only say that he can't be in the same place with Stochelo Rosenberg, he's out of place, I think that he's there with Stochelo only because he paid him. Cheers!
It seems you have yet to meet or play with Denis. Even if you had done anything to further our music, your words would still sound ugly, but you haven't. what've you done? You think your critiism somehow shows that you "get it?" Professionals in this genre, the people who actually create, even when offering criticism show respect. Denis is a fantastic rhythm player. Considering that Argentina has so much creative soul to offer, Berni, Piazzola, Bergara, you're the one that's out of place. CHEERS
wait.... that's not the original speed... is it?!?!

@TomTheGuitarist I meant that in a good way. Obviously it sounds good but it is also fast.
Shred doesn't always imply going up and down the scales, look at Yngwie for example.

Do those Selmer Jazz guitars use nylon strings?

@lgomez222
no. They use silver wounded strings.

Is that a pickup mounted at the end of the fingerboard or a fingerboard repair?

If i agree grosso modo with the arpege idea, i really believe that you have to forget this interpretation.

@iJigglypuff It's like a race-theory u r telling here. Is it true too that gypsys are lazy and dirty? I don't think so.

Is Stochelo improvising just with the arpeggios of the chords that Dennis is playing or what is he using?? scales?? just the arpeggios?
Please someone answer this.
GassyCoke 1 year ago
@GassyCoke He just plays one note after another, and so on and on.
sa7sul 1 year ago
@sa7sul That wasn't useful at all.
