Ho avuto la fortuna di ascoltarlo dal vivo.

Enorme.

Immensa dote naturale in quel timbro grave e al tempo stesso melodioso, perfezione tonale, potenza negli acuti sovrastante il pieno d'orchestra, note gravi da far tremare le poltrone, legati mostruosi, piena presenza scenica sia nelle parti drammatiche che buffe.

E in più, grande signorilità, ben lontano dai microfoni e dalle kermesse in stile BonoVox, Zucchero e compagnia bella..

Addio grande, indimenticabile Cesare Siepi!!!

What is WRONG with this audience? They were treated to some glorious singing (Kraus sang in this recital too) and yet all they do is clap like limp noodles!

While I intensely dislike the trend of giving out standing ovations like they're required and mean nothing (though I guess that's more in the area of musicals than in opera), I really believe in audiences letting their appreciation and excitement be heard after a performance like this one. These folks sound weak or sick or something.

Un mythe ! Autant par la voix, somptueuse & majestueuse, que par la façon de s'en servir, techniquement imparable , style Verdien, classe et efficacité redoutable.

Comme quoi, bien que certains ne pensent pas cela en 2009, les chanteurs d'avant 2000 savaient chanter, sans gueuler ' c'est le terme que j'ai lu ... ) et avec panache ! Et toc ! Bravo et j'en voudrais bien encore des comme ça !!!!
