MrLets is 100% right. Kurt was all about getting up on stage and it being a punk show. Just look at the New Years show they do on MTV and Krist is breaking his bass, Kurt is telling to crowd to come join them. And practically pulls a kids arm off to try and get him on stage. The show is there to let out your aggression and enjoy yourself the band is just the road map of that journey.

Stage diving is just what happens at rock gigs, and Cobain got a kick out of the kids gone wild thing. The only thing he didn't like was if they bumped him and disrupt the show, and most of all, when some prick pinched his ass. He smacks the guy with a guitar and gobs on him, but you can't see that in this video.
