Tooo cool Tracey, I made this hat in a couple hours and it came out great. thank you sooo. much for sharing ur videos. I've been crocheting for years but only just learned how to follow a pattern thisyear. So thanx again for doing such a great job with videos.
Thank you! Your instructions are so clear and easy to understand!! I just learned to crochet 2 days ago and this made a lovely present for my sister's birthday! thanks!
I did it 2 days ago, turned out really great. One thing: I realized that when I begin next raw with 3 chains I little hole appears, so I changed and started each new raw with chain 2. I also added 2 more raws at the section where I worked depth because I like hat to stand a bit loose on my head. (or I had big head:) thanks for the tutorial!
Question I'm trying to make a flapper hat but i'm confused with the beginning stich, the instructions say with the smalle hook chain 54 (60, 66) slip st in first chain to form ring. Place marker for beginning of round? Then it says Round 1 chain 2 (counts as hdc here and throughout) hdc in each chain around, slip in top of beginning chain to join? Where do I begin????
Tracy, thank you for your fabulous videos! Your instructions are thorough and easy to understand, and your videotaping is nice and close so beginners like me can see what you're talking about. Troubleshooting question: I completed my hat, but once I had my initial circle, it didn't lay nice and flat like yours did. Any ideas why mine puckered a bit? The finished hat is almost squarish on top instead of rounded, sort of like a yarn top hat. It's still cute, but I wonder what I did wrong.
When you chain 5 in the beginning make sure you are counting the loop on your hook as the first chain ( you will only chain up 4 times.) Next: 7 dc in the first chain. When you are finished with this step, you will have a total of 8 stitches. The original chain 5 (holes at the top) counts as your first dc and then you have 7 dc for a total of 8 stitches that form the ring. I hope this helps... feel free to ask more questions if you are still getting stuck.
Tracey, I keep getting stuck in the beginning! If I DC into the 5 ch st, I end up with many holes at the top. Yours looks different. I also have more stiches than you. How can I fix this? I've started over several times, what am I missing? I love the hat!
I had to remove my last comment because I wanted to give you 5 STARS... couldnt change that... I love your videos and cant wait to make this hat for my daughter! Thanks and Great Work.

@kealliew Maybe the yarn you used was thicker or heavier weight. causing it to curl.
