Thanks for posting. This is truly vintage Hofmann--the Hofmann that Rachmaninoff swore was the greatest pianist in the world. (Of course, Hofmann said the same of Rachmaninoff. Speaking of which, there's another great recording of the Spinning Song...)
To my ears, there is a clear difference between this Hofmann and the Hofmann of the 1930s, when the alcohol problem was beginning to take hold and political unrest at Curtis were driving him toward his resignation.
A delight. But I like the Rachmaninoff rendition better - more humor
