I followed Alvaro at the US Open qualifying a good few years ago as i knew his caddy for this event, in still conditions he carries driver around 300 yards, 9 iron 165y, 7 iron 195y and his 2 iron 245y, the guy is very long and flights it well (flat) he hit Driver 2 iron to a 580y par 5 into a slight headwind on the day i was there when NOBODY else reached, Darren Clarke said he ripped Driver 3 Wood 50 yards short and was 2 groups behind Alvaro, lot of talent this lad
Quiros just drills it, lovely flat flight, very talented starts holing more 12-15 footers and who knows, not sure why` he s lucky bubba wasnt there` but each to their own!
...to the 200 marker. sure, you just hit a nine iron 200 yards, but that doesnt mean you hit your stock nine iron is 200 yards. however, by your logic, that would be the case.
That is what the commentators said, plus it was shown. 359m (392yd) was total distance, and there was very little roll because he was in the rough, it was nearly all carry. I am well aware of golf, long driving and what is needed from to achieve such feats
and whilst you need high ball speeds, did you ever think that other attributing factors would have been advantageous? Wind, altitude, elevated tee box (it was very elevated)
so what you basically said discredits his 380 carry, you simply state a fact without details trying to achieve a misleading conclusion that he really can hit the ball that far without help.
k he clearly did not carry a golf ball 380. we understand that the hole was 430, and that he had 50 yards into the green, but that does not mean he hit it 380. it was probably a bit of a dog leg which cuts yardage off, it was probably down hill, and it was probably down wind. i think u should just think about what you just wrote and come to the conclusion that it was incredibly stupid. yes quiros is the longest on any tour, but there is no fucking way he can carry it 380.
Mattyco during the pga championship he carried a ball 380 and the total drive was 392 then he had a 9 iron iinto a 600 yard par 5 with no down hills or doglegs. you obviously have no idea how far guys can hit the ball, have you ever watched long dirive comps?
your an absolute fucking idiot. he cannot carry a golf ball 380. some holes just play short, some are fake yardage. and obviously he doesnt hit as far as the guys in the long drive comps. those guys are built like weight lifters, and have more powerful swings than quiros. THOSE GUYS carry it 380, quiros unfortunately comes nowhere close to that. and even if he did do it once, that doesnt mean he hits it 380. thats the equivalent of somehow smoking a nine iron on the range that rolls...
The average touring professional hits a 9 iron around 130-145, the loft of the 9 iron itself is not strong enough to make it fly so far. I have heard of some sets made by Cobra that are 4-5 degrees strong, so it could have been one of those iron sets where the 9 iron was everyone else's 7 iron.
true rendog my old mx23 9 iron goes 150 my new tourstage xblades 140 ,,, do you really need a 150 9 iron ??? i dont think so it created a huge gap between my 46 degree wedge
Wow man, thats a really amazing blade, I've seen Tourstage's stuff. The fact of the matter is that I play with a friend in 10th grade, he is under 5 feet 4 inches, and hits a 4 iron around 170 ish. He hits a 6-7 iron to a green that I hit an 8 iron (145 yards). He shoots on average 3 over par, I shoot, on average, 12 over par.
@ rendog92 i shoot 72-86 depends if im hungover or not , i shot 70 this year from the white tees , i ususally play the blues , and shoot in the mid 70s , i live near bethpage black im lucky if i break 80 its a beast from the tips
the black as you know is public 50 $ / round for resident s 100 non , a quality golf club mmbership here is really expensive 10-20,000 initiation fee ,, the lower clubs is around 5-7500 i may move to myrtle or tampa
wow, here in Louisiana, a crappy club membership initiation is around $600, but a better one is still only around $1500-$2000 initiation. Hope you can get a membership somewhere, its really unfair to have to pay $20000 just for golf.
ya it sucks here for golf cold winters lots of really shitty people on the course , crowded , its bullshit ,, i heard theyre not gonna have another us open @ bethpage for a looong time ,, thats good gets rid of some of the people who shouldnt be out there on the course
the black is fun but new york golfers are fucking assholes look how they acted at the us open ,, ??? ive been in a few fist fights like 10 ,,, i dont take anyshit from these people ,, lol!!!
lol, the cold really does kind of suck, but yea, having alot of hackshots out definitely ruins that anywhere. Thats why private clubs are better in the south, because they are cheaper, and the public usually just goes to a municipal course.
im confident that all his clubhead speed comes from turning his right butt cheek int the finishing position as fast as he can ive tried it a few times and launchedd the ball
amazing

Just watching Quiros in the first round of the Madrid Masters. Par 4 430, he carried one 380yd+ ... crazy
bossofalltime 2 years ago
you realize you need 210 ball speed to accomplish that feat right?

Here's what I should have said: He hit it far, the commentators said he carried it 380yd. He was aided by some altitude and an elevated tee box.
bossofalltime 2 years ago
highteeld....your an idiot.
yk6x 2 years ago
if its that elevated you go up there and hit one that far
dandydude123xyz 2 years ago
Why the hostility? I like Quiros, the elevated was a contributing factor in addition to his big hittings, I'm not knocking him
