If you hit other players they fall, then the referee pulls out a card or orders a penalty kick. You don't have to eat him for dinner for it to be a foul. Messi is a valuable asset to football it's no wonder they keep an eye on violent teams that would hurt such a fine player.

Nigeria was better in this game. They were bigger, stronger and waaaaaaaaaay skillful than the argentines. The Nigerian players were very comfortable on the ball and moved very comfortably but the argentines deserved the victory because they realized there weaknesses and that there best way to beat Nigeria was to defend and counter attack since they had a key player missing for the final, and there plan worked to perfection. Result: Argentina won its 3rd WYC and Nigeria remains runners up twice.

as much as i can't stand argentina, they won the game fair and square. Nigeria lost the game through the inexperience of there defenders in giving away penalties like that. In the first goal, messi was cornered, adeleye should not have touched him because he already had him cornered but he did resulting in a pk. In the WYC, refs call the game by the book, if it was in Serie A or the premiership, it won't be called at all. Taiwo and Adeleye forgot that Messi is extremely fragile and little.

First of all I never admitted that he is a midget since he's above the midget stature and diving? he's mot known for that. He won many awards in the last three years that recognizes him as the top in the world in 2005, the same last year as being the top young player in the major european leagues. Kaka, Messi C. The first Messi penalty was legit however the second was BS. He should have been yellow carded. A friend of mine is an official concacaf referee and he complete agrees with me. He also happens to be from a spanish speaking country.

Im sure the referee was not Nigerian or being paid off by Nigerians. So how could Nigeria be accused of cheating in 96? Ortega's dive was a classic example of cheating which rules out the (so-called)offside goal. Nigeria were deserved winners in 96. Case closed.

Messi is one of the best players right now in the world, if not the best. He was the best in Netherlands in the U20 and, to those who say he is a diver, you would wish to have him in your own team. Watch his plays, he is the one who suffered more, but who dives less. In the match vs Nigeria, the 1st penalty was not clear, but the player touched Messi's foot before the ball. The second pk was obvious.
Messi is humble and shy, but he is the "21st century Maradona".

If you're nigerian, you should know a lot about cheating. Nigeria won the 96 olympics with an offside winning goal against Argentina. That's the only title they ever won and they have the referee to thank for that because they couldn't win it on their own...
