Instead of putting a shity 3.8L, they should done a 3L turbo. 2-3L Turbos = great. I just feel like there arent enough affordable turbo cars in the US. They're so much nicer to drive and get better mpg
I hear that the aftermarket will be coming out with a supercharger kit for the 3.8. I don't know that they could of made it as affordable with a turbo 3L. I think the n/a 3.8 was a good choice and we can leave the rest to the aftermarket. Besides that, if they did a 3L turbo, the aftermarket would of came out with a bigger turbo regardless. I never thought of a 3L turbo in a genesis though, it certainly is an interesting thought but I don't think it's practical.
@Bulgdoom IF they are kept relatively low in power that is. once they start extracting power from it (Evo, STI) MPG just shoots down. Its hard to make cheap 2-3l turbo cars able to keep up with good gas Mileage. Unless it weighs like 2,000 lbs the 2l-3l T engines are over-engineered gas suckers. Size and N/A has it benefits.
Regardless of performance, I'm going to say that the 2.0T is the best looking car you can buy for less than $25,000. Hyundai really got the aesthetics right with this car.

My papa got a GT500 for my mom, we took it to a track day and had alot of fun, it didn't beat the jeep SRT and it lost to a really pretty red porsche. needless to say we took it back after just 3 months of owning it, my mom now has an Audi, and she doesn't regret it.....that Hyundai is cute, love the red! :D

I bought the 3.8 version in black back in April. So far I am totally happy with this car. I've put about 4800 miles on it since then and have had no issues at all. It handles just as well as my '08 M3 however the suspension isn't as forgiving when it comes to compromising rough patches of road. Shifting is very smooth with short throws between the gears, and 4th gear is quite fun. The clutch is a bit heavy and took some getting used to but you do get used to it. Hyundai built a winner!
I put at 30% tint on the windows as well. It's a genuine head-turner. I was hot rodding around with a fellow in his Challenger RT last week. He couldn't shake me.

Lexus was #1, Porsche was #2, Cadillac was #3, and Hyundai was #4. I'm not knocking BMW because their vehicles are sound choices, but Hyundai's impressing me big time.

One thing I should mention is that a BMW 3-series must be top of the line to beat a 3.8 Genesis V6. Even then, their horsepower is pretty much identical, but the price difference is substantial. $50,000 as opposed to $35,000. Something to keep in mind as well.

a 328i, audi a4 and a3, c-class, lexus is, infiniti G...all 32,000, all well equiped, power is decent enough as well. the point is that no ones gonna care if they hyundai is faster over a few of these, and not by much..if you ould have had the "nicer" car. thats the appeal of a brand, they all out weigh the hyundais luxuries, and even if they didnt, thier badge says it all.
They're well equipped yeah, but performance wise, a 328i, A4 2.0T, A3, C200, Lexus IS250 don't even come close. Just so you know, All those cars are over a second lower 60 than the GC. Yes they're nicer cars, but if you compare value, it's undeniable.

In terms of a step this is a running leap. They shattered the mold with the sedan. Thing offers rolls Royce sound system. Lexis LS comfort and power to boot. This coup has by quite done the same in the way of the sedan but it has serious potential. It's like a g8 gxp amazing power for money but needs something more. In this case the sedans hp. N hopefully they see a convertible as the next logical step. That way they can cover all aspects of thier comp. And it would simply look amazing
What I can compare hyundaias ,a brand, to now is the 2008 jaguar xj, n where they r going needs to be the 2010 xj. What I mean by that is the sheer differnce between the two is so imposibly difficult to discern that the new one came from it that it blows your mind to see what it came from. Hyundai is on the road to this, and they r on thier way fast. I mean this is the 1st time to mevthat hyundai and power have been used in the same sentence! The skys not the limit here. so with cars like that, at equal price...whats your angle now? the technology in the standard 3 or c-class alone is impressive enough to forget the hyundais power, besides, last i checked the 3 and C werent underpowered or not lux enough. So knowing this, your jusitfying buying the hyundai just for its power, which doesnt mean much if the cars a "joke" . i like the car, but i just wouldnt settle with it knowing my other options
It's also the same thing with the Genesis sedan, everyone complains that they copied the Lexus LS inside and out, but I don't think that's a bad thing? I say, if you can get a car that everyone COMPLAINS looks and feels like a Lexux LS at half price of the latter, I'm gonna buy it over the Lexus.

I hear that the aftermarket will be coming out with a supercharger kit for the 3.8. I don't know that they could of made it as affordable with a turbo 3L. I think the n/a 3.8 was a good choice and we can leave the rest to the aftermarket. Besides that, if they did a 3L turbo, the aftermarket would of came out with a bigger turbo regardless. I never thought of a 3L turbo in a genesis though, it certainly is an interesting thought but I don't think it's practical.

@Bulgdoom IF they are kept relatively low in power that is. once they start extracting power from it (Evo, STI) MPG just shoots down. Its hard to make cheap 2-3l turbo cars able to keep up with good gas Mileage. Unless it weighs like 2,000 lbs the 2l-3l T engines are over-engineered gas suckers. Size and N/A has it benefits.

My papa got a GT500 for my mom, we took it to a track day and had alot of fun, it didn't beat the jeep SRT and it lost to a really pretty red porsche. needless to say we took it back after just 3 months of owning it, my mom now has an Audi, and she doesn't regret it.....that Hyundai is cute, love the red! :D

I bought the 3.8 version in black back in April. So far I am totally happy with this car. I've put about 4800 miles on it since then and have had no issues at all. It handles just as well as my '08 M3 however the suspension isn't as forgiving when it comes to compromising rough patches of road. Shifting is very smooth with short throws between the gears, and 4th gear is quite fun. The clutch is a bit heavy and took some getting used to but you do get used to it. Hyundai built a winner!

What does badge respect have to do with it? Or rather, badge snobbery? Do you realize how many BMWs there are on the road? Millions, and they all look the same with little uniqueness between them, except for maybe the M3 or the Z4. Plus, BMW fell behind Hyundai on this year's JD Power & Associates quality ratings. Lexus was #1, Porsche was #2, Cadillac was #3, and Hyundai was #4. I'm not knocking BMW because their vehicles are sound choices, but Hyundai's impressing me big time.

Knowing I could of had a genesis in no way makes me sorry. I wouldn't take a 3 either. N I could have any car in this range. So you hve to consider taste as well. Which again, you just don't hve too many people feelin up to getting a hyundai over a bmw. Which could change as hyundai adjusts thierimagine, which just begun

Oh no but people do tend to get snobby in their BMWs and Volkswagens, etc. I have nothing against these cars by the way, but badge snobbery really is a problem these days. BMWs are just so commonplace. Here in Toronto I spot about 30 or 40 on my way to work, and my work is 10 minutes from my house! I have a feeling Hyundai is going to fight an uphill battle, but they're already doing a fantastic job and I'm hoping it will get better.

One thing I should mention is that a BMW 3-series must be top of the line to beat a 3.8 Genesis V6. Even then, their horsepower is pretty much identical, but the price difference is substantial. $50,000 as opposed to $35,000. Something to keep in mind as well.

Yes it's true this is a bargain, how ever you have to consider brand power. If people were content on a bargain you wouldn't see any bmws or audis n such. So back tovmy point, when you drive a hyundai you don't have ad much prestige as a bmw. So reguardless of what beats what, since most won't ever actually need the power, the bmw would be a bettr choice. After all if you can have a bmw or a hyundai, it dpest make sense Roget a hyundai, as most people would choose based on the higher brand.

a 328i, audi a4 and a3, c-class, lexus is, infiniti G...all 32,000, all well equiped, power is decent enough as well. the point is that no ones gonna care if they hyundai is faster over a few of these, and not by much..if you ould have had the "nicer" car. thats the appeal of a brand, they all out weigh the hyundais luxuries, and even if they didnt, thier badge says it all.

They're well equipped yeah, but performance wise, a 328i, A4 2.0T, A3, C200, Lexus IS250 don't even come close. Just so you know, All those cars are over a second lower 60 than the GC. Yes they're nicer cars, but if you compare value, it's undeniable.
Lexus is as much of a luxury brand as Infiniti is.

It is something amazing. N yea it's pretty tires those top 5 just thrown around. My main point is to compare it to the things people consider the good ones. Like yes it's worth it in power and such. But is it worth it with all the gadgets and other cars you can have is the real question. So I say lexis bmw audi mercedes because those have some more significance to others. It's more of a comp thing. And I agree it's definatly a great car. It really does come down to prefference.

In terms of a step this is a running leap. They shattered the mold with the sedan. Thing offers rolls Royce sound system. Lexis LS comfort and power to boot. This coup has by quite done the same in the way of the sedan but it has serious potential. It's like a g8 gxp amazing power for money but needs something more. In this case the sedans hp. N hopefully they see a convertible as the next logical step. That way they can cover all aspects of thier comp. And it would simply look amazing

What I can compare hyundaias ,a brand, to now is the 2008 jaguar xj, n where they r going needs to be the 2010 xj. What I mean by that is the sheer differnce between the two is so imposibly difficult to discern that the new one came from it that it blows your mind to see what it came from. Hyundai is on the road to this, and they r on thier way fast. I mean this is the 1st time to mevthat hyundai and power have been used in the same sentence! The skys not the limit here. so with cars like that, at equal price...whats your angle now? the technology in the standard 3 or c-class alone is impressive enough to forget the hyundais power, besides, last i checked the 3 and C werent underpowered or not lux enough. So knowing this, your jusitfying buying the hyundai just for its power, which doesnt mean much if the cars a "joke" . i like the car, but i just wouldnt settle with it knowing my other options

It's also the same thing with the Genesis sedan, everyone complains that they copied the Lexus LS inside and out, but I don't think that's a bad thing? I say, if you can get a car that everyone COMPLAINS looks and feels like a Lexux LS at half price of the latter, I'm gonna buy it over the Lexus.
