wow, you video is incredibly great, i was watching all about ceasor's but i didn't came up any video which better than yours..anyway thanks for this hope this helps me the exam for tomorrow
i made a short two part documentary on this subject using footage from these TV shows anyone who who has an interist in this period in history should come on to my channel and check it out, this in one of my 1st vids so please dont judge to harshly
to bad Rome fell to those filthy scum- barbarians the cowards attacked when the empire was financially weak. If Rome emerged victorious and conquered the rest of the world i would be one of their most loyal citizens and would serve in the army until death.
@silverspoon97 LOL Lower your anger my friend "those filthy scum barbarians" were people too in fact they wanted to be Romans themselfs to have the roman wealth and security many just look for better land or escape from terrible invaders such "huns" the problem was how Rome receive them and I would many times rather badly as the Goths also the Empire destruid itself for within at least the West the corruption the bad leardship the political unrest etc destruid the empire more than barbarians
I have to agree Caesar was not trying to be king. Despite the opinions of jaded historians, the things he wrote, the laws he passed, they favored the republic. And he was not the first, he was the last of a group of men which began with the brothers Gracchi, included Pompey, Crassus, Marius, Sulla, etc. That's why the Senate killed him, it perceived the stripping of its ow authority. Augustus succeeded where the others failed - he balanced his own power with the authority of the senate.
@ImperialGuard9001 agreed, but he could not step down from such a lofty position without forfeiting his own life or that of his family's. Augustus ran into the same problem. He talked constantly of stepping down, but knew to do so would mean the destruction of his entire family. Eventually the princeps became a trap of its own
Another well edited, video piece, not mention very edifying. I very much like these video works about Roman rulers. Please continue to post such videos. Bravo.
I'm not shure if everything what you say is right. Actually, his nephew Otavius or Augustus was the first "Princeps" and so Emperor. Some founts say, that he just wanted to rebuilt the republic and clean it from the corrupt patriziens.
I don´t know what you mean. It is said that he is the "father of all emperors" and not the first emperor. By the way, Sueton began his biographies of the emperors with Caesar and not with Augustus.
When you say this way, it's correct. But in this video, it sounds like Caesar wanted to be the king of rome and built a monarchy, and thats not right.
There a different opinions. One opinion, but it is not the "communis opinio" says that Caesar just wanted to save the republic, another says that he dreamed of a restauration of the old kingdom, another says that he wanted to create a new type of monarchy. Mommsen for example called him the "first monarch of Rome".
@Princepsmaximus I dont think Caesar would declar himself "Monarch" neither would restore the "Old Republic" he would what he had proclaimed himself "Dictator for Life"

This film about Ceasar is saying in the end that he is the father of all emperors while technically he never was an emperor. Augustus was the true first emperor and so father of all emperors. ;)

@silverspoon97 Barbarians were attacking Rome ever since it's founding. Not just when Rome was financially and militarily weak.
