I have a USGS map that showed quite an extensive rail line to the north of Shelton into the Olympic mountains. Do you know if any of that remains other than the line between the Simson facilities? Thanks!
Thank you. It's important to document these branchlines, shortlines, logging railways as much as we can, because as you know, then can be gone literally tomorrow. Let me know when the dvd is ready!
Did you get any from the Vance Creek trestle?

@cheechchongfan97 Sadly, no. That would've been a decade earlier.

Gauge?
Is that trestle also vehicle bridge?
robertgift 1 year ago
@robertgift standard guage, and yes the bridge is planked for vehicles (log trucks, etc.)

@MasCoRailbuff Thank you. That explains the horn in case someone was planning to cross.
Johnstown, PA had a paved two-lane bridge with a track curving into it.
Crossing signals looked strange at both ends of the bridge.
Now I cannot find it on aerial photos.

@Loco4Locomotives There's nothing remaining of the line beyond the dry sort yard at Dayton since 2003.

Damn thats a loud horn for what appears to be a switcher. Leslie maybe?
KSE828 2 years ago
It's a Nathan K5L, similar to what you hear on amtrak and many other RRs. C minor chord.

Thanks, Chris. I'm putting together a DVD compilation of my archival Simpson footage. BTW, I like your E&N stuff.
