i much prefer CX to QF, i just flew with cathay pacific LHR-BNE and back it had been a while scinse i had flown them and they were still great, the new inflight cabin has much improved to, however still not quite as good as singapore airlines

I think QANTAS' entertainment is very good. CX only have channel systems. Qantas has a ON-Demand system. Total Entertainment System. Cathay can't beat Qantas for that reason, as well as those economy seat back shells. :S. The seatback stays upright, but the base moves forward and as a result your knees get jammed into the seat in front.

@SouthAfricanAirways1 Cathay's on demand system is better in my opinion, more movies to watch and very good asian movies, music and wide variety of stuff for people to watch... i like the shell seats, i like my space :)

@SouthAfricanAirways1 nononono ure wrong, Long Haul A330 on cathays have AVOD now. There are 12 of Cathay's A330-300s have Avod and the new shell, those 12 are mainly used for australian routes. the other 19 A330's dont have AVOD and have channels.

I thought they only had AVOD for Business and First Class passengers...

@SouthAfricanAirways1 all A340's are converted to new business and economy, so are all the B747's =] so u dont need to worry, the 340's with the first class are all stored in the desert

@SouthAfricanAirways1 haha its ok, it must have been years u havent been on cathay... last time i went on cathay was 2008 when only a few 747 were fitted with AVOD and i was lucky cuz it was a really short route Osaka-Hong Kong

Its a big compitition between Cathay Pacfic and Qantas on this route, as they leave nearly the same time (CX is 15 min earlier when I flew it), plus on the return route, it is also 15 minutes earlier. They also have the same plane.

I chose to fly CX cause its better in my opinion.
