is he smoking? federal law states that no smoking articles r 2 b underground. violators r charged with a class 6 felony and a $250 state fine and $250 federal fine for each article. so if you bring a pack of cigarettes down that just has 1 cigarette in it and you have a lighter you get charged with 3 smokers articles. 1 for the single cigarette. 1 for the pack it was in and 1 for the lighter. plus $500 fine state/federal for each article. thats in any underground mines. becuz risk of methane gas

To all the coal miners, I'm a hard rock miner, repair department, I am a "jack of all trades" down below, I and my crew can run motors or jacklegs, roof bolters, muckers and the like. I can tell you since I've worked coal a couple times along with uranium, moly, gold/silver and have been working copper for sometime now, that if one of you coal boys went to my work area to tap a chute, you probably couldnt do it because things are way different, also I'd like you to come down here to Arizona and
HOLLY SH!T ! One hole in less than two minutes! In our mine (GROT, Kriva Feja, Serbia) one work ground (or else how do you call it) about 3x3m is worked almost 4 and half hours.
Ofcourse you need two people at one machine, first reason, one is master and second apprentice (you really must learn how to drill to achieve some angles of tunel when they blast them(sorry, my english is not so rich)), second second is for security, if something happens to one of them other can help him (they are all alone on work place, other people could be 100m or 1000m away from them), third, its more better when you are with someone than alone (in dark, cold mine)... etc.
@denis551988 I did not realise you replied to me..hit reply button!
When I worked underground in copper and gold and nickel mines in Australia in '70s and '80s we worked by ourselves on airlegs (jacklegs). It was very hard especially when starting a hole in difficult position. Everything we did by ourselves, drilling, charging, mucking etc. Also could be dangerous because shiftboss only comes around two times a shift. But that is how we did it and I didn't mind.
@Gerrydgk where are you from? In Canada you need to complete a underground common core corse there are 2 types and if you pass the you can get in to this
fellers i work in the underground coal mines and if you think that hard wont you work in what i work in, try workin 37 in top and boltin with 8 to 10 foot bolts bec i do every dam nite fer 8 to 12 hours or longer a real miner is a coal miner
yer I remember working with the Canadians when I was young... bit like the yanks always giver this ck skrs that every one's ya mate till the boss turns up then it's all about competition and looking cool infront of the boss and fuck your mates! all brovado and acidents. the worst thing was when they would turn on each other i really disliked that... it may have changed though these days? Ozys have a diffrent mind set in general and I hope we keep it...
@theartofz....... I hear you mate...worked with them up in Alaska..and then Africa..and run in to the fuckers again up in Irain Jayra.
If there is a slow way...or backward way...they know how to do it......fucking raise crew I was with..still used cross cut bits.....they reckon they invented mining.....The ozzies always came thru...and the bosses new who was breaking the most dirt...dont worry.
I've been doin it for 22 years now and i've got to travel the world because of it. No one really loves the jackleg, but i think when the days come i'll miss it.
And now minecraft comes to life
