Hurting stright line speed, yes and no. If you have more traction you can accelerate faster, if your spoilers make massive drag then yes you are reducing topspeed, but serously who hits the kinds of speeds where that even applys.

Ok, all of these people calling a wing pointless on FWD cars....... The physics don't change just because its a FWD car, it's true your not helping the traction of the drivechain, like duh. But you can still come across instabilaty at high speeds that can be corrected with downforce, regardless of how the power is applyed.

The real point is: How fast do you plan to be going anyway? And to that point most cars don't need any aero, besides a slight fuel economy increase for marketing reasons.

In racing, FWD cars use high rear spring rates to reduce understeer in low and medium speed corners. A rear wing counteracts the rear lift and keeps the car balanced in mid to high speed corners. A FWD car has it for the same reason as a RWD. It's not like a wing stops a burnout at low speeds or like any car has to worry about burning out at really high speeds. It's there to hold it to the ground. It doesn't matter if it's F, R, or All.

I'm no American, so I wouldn't really know those places. But the I75 sounds very wide and straight. I was on a 2 lane road with some slight curves here and there. I could get better tyres, but their performance depends on their amount of wear. A spoiler would be more "wallet friendly". I'm not saying you're wrong. Let's just leave it at "you need a spoiler when you need a spoiler".

We don't know how this car performed at top speeds and if the spoiler was necessary or not.
