dude, may i ask you how your settings for the rhythm guitar of regular john were? i just got myself this pedal and it kicks ass...and i think you hit a pretty nice tone there man
Fuck these kids comin in here telling this guy that he needs to keep time. The video says Fulltone Ultimate Octave with QOTSA riffs... If you comment, comment on that! And personally, KICK ASS Tone my friend. Keep it up.
@azombiestool Thanks man for the positive comment! Personally now time has passed and I watch my own vid I am inclined to agree with a lot of the people who commented about timing. It was wayyyy off when I recorded this. Thankfully though I can keep in time now :p I'll have to re-record and upload another vid at some point.
@SamAlexander14786 haha yeah man! Well, its true, the timing was off, and the best time you could hear the kick ass tone was where the double tracks where playing the same thing when panned L and R, but either way, my point in the comment is that the timing wasnt the point in the video in the first place:P haha
But yeah man! You should SO redo this video. Do some Them crooked vultures rifss and of course, Kyuss or QOTSA, thatd sound sick!
@groovey65 Generally when playing to a previously recorded track you play to a click. I didn't have one so that's how the second part was out of time with the first.
dude i really wanna ask you.... you use the pedal without using the "octave" effect, right? How is the fuzz on it's one? is it truly that muddy and sweet ? :P
Firstly the OC3 sets the original signal down an octave while the ultimate octave sets the signal up an octave. Now you can't really play chords on either as they don't track very well. That said the ultimate octave tracks all notes all over the neck. Outstanding pedal! Hope this helps! :)
ah man the opening is fucking tight good job

DaMogai 5 months ago
@DaMogai The rhythm guitar parts were done by a Way Huge Green Rhino clone, not the ultimate octave. The heavy fuzzy tone was the ultimate octave.
SamAlexander14786 5 months ago
man, i've rarely been that unsure what to do... 200€ for a fuzz pedal?!?!
but this one has to be worth it, i totally need it
DaMogai 6 months ago
You have the best qotsa sound i ve heard.
Can you share the settings you used on both pedal and amp?
I own the pedal but as you know it is very sensitive when you tweak the knobs and is hard to find the best tone.
dtsarouhis 6 months ago
Can you just use the octave-up effect on it's own?
McFro95 6 months ago
@McFro95 Nope it's only usable when the fuzz is engaged.

how did you get so bad at keeping in time?
groovey65 9 months ago 5
@groovey65 An amp cranked to fuck = can't hear anything in the room where it was recorded. Not even the second track.
SamAlexander14786 9 months ago
@SamAlexander14786 well when you recorded the first how did you get so out of time if all you good hear was the sound of what you were playing?
groovey65 9 months ago
@groovey65 Generally when playing to a previously recorded track you play to a click. I didn't have one so that's how the second part was out of time with the first.

YukistopherDiadora 1 year ago 5
@YukistopherDiadora Hard to hear a click above a cranked amp son.

sounds spot on but you are playing it wrong sorry

@BlueOnionGroup
Already know that, at the time of recording this I hadn't figured out how to play regular john correctly.
SamAlexander14786 1 year ago
is this a fuzz pedal or an octave pedal? or is it both?
punkiassjunki 1 year ago
@punkiassjunki It's both, but the octave effect is only functional when the fuzz is engaged.
SamAlexander14786 1 year ago

@stevestizzy
Yep using it without the octave effect and this is exactly the way the pedal sounds. It's pretty much the QOTSA tone in a box :p

Regular John sounded fucking quality

Joshy also plays a guitar made in Australia and built by Maton Guitars.
George Harrison of The Beatles also used a Maton Guitar in 1963.
If you do a Google search of, George Harrison — Maton MS500.
You can see the guitar at a few websites.

what is that hollow body guitar in the photo at around 30 seconds? It looks sweet!
snake139 2 years ago
It's a motorave Bel air custom. Josh was seen using it in 2008 at reading festival.

Szartard 2 years ago 2
Should have used a click here and there and maybe a less sharp amp setting but otherwise nice featurette.
neoflox 2 years ago
Click track wouldn't of made a difference lol, had the amp cranked and tried double tracking while barely able to hear the second guitar
Thanks though :)

i have a boss oc 3and only seem to be able to play 'single notes' and not chords.are you able to play chords with the 'ultimate octave'?
