Spain is full of mixed black white etc puertoricans are known to be black/white mix with taino(indian died off) so are my peeps and cubans. Latin/hispanic isn't a race so anyone will be label latin if born in central and south america. Hispanic born in CA. P.R D.R. blatinos is what they call all blacks either mixed with the group or born in the latin countries even the islands

@hughkelly1993 You are correct that Latin American is not European, but the Latin-derived languages (Spanish and Portuguese, even French) are spoken EVERYWHERE in the new world (North, Central and South America) except the USA. So when someone is called Latino or Latina, it assumes that they or their ancestors are from a country south of the USA...

@youbetterbelievehah Latinos are mostly a mix between South American indigenous people and white Europeans, so they are a distinguished people. I think it's OK to call them Latinos (not Latins). Latino comes from Spanish "Latinoamericano", it doesn't have to do with Lazio, which is the Italian province that gives its name to Latin. They are called Latinoamericanos because they are Americans who speak Spanish, French or Portuguese, Romance languages.

@youbetterbelievehah - - Easy geezy. In America, Latin is loosely termed and may not really mean Latin Spaniard European in the Americas. A lot of our "Latins" are really mostly of Native American or African heritage with a hint of Spanish. You will find those who have a lot of Spaniard in their blood. Not all of our people in the Americas have Spanish in their blood because in certain parts of South America you'll have Indians from India that pass for Latin and Germans.
