  • Wow! This river impresses the hell out of me.

Such a beautiful color. Just a few questions ...

In the summer, is the water cool, cold, or hypothermia in 15 minutes?

How deep is it at it's deepest part? Rock bottom? Sand?

What's the clarity of the water? How many feet visibility on average?

Can you see fish? Aquatic plants?

Thanks much to anyone who can answer these questions.

  • In the summer? the water is not cold. it's warm enough to swim.

Not sure about the depth, maybe 3-5 meters. Rock bottom.

The water is from the mountain, it's clean enough to even drink it directly from the river.

    About 3-4 feet visibility.

I dont think there is fish. I didn't see any.

  • Meltyan,

Thanks much for the fast and complete reply. Imagine, a river so pure you can drink from it!

I think I'm becoming obsessed with this river. I now have a pic of people swimming in it as my desktop background.

One day I hope to document the most interesting/exciting/fun places in the world to swim. The Aare will be on that list for sure!

  • of course there are fish in the river...trouts mainly.

  • @srbaruchi

that's more drifting, than swimming in that river, you don't have to do something, for cover some metres..

in the Aare you can "swim" nearly 1km.. and than walk to the start, and all do again...
