  • That overlapping thumb thing just looks mad uncomfortable, I make a personal habbit of correcting myself if I find meself doing this...

  • is wizard world the same as comic con ???

  • OH MY GOD He's using a graphgear 1000 !!! I have that pencil !

Now I shall draw awesome !

  • maybe he holds his pencil like that to avoid smudges. :/

  • Jim Lee and Bruce TImm are my favs, but this guy is really interesting. although the original version of harley is my fave

  • i can never properly draw if i hold a pencil like that. great artist though. jim lee draws cleaner XD

  • I didn't know Campbell is handicapped!

  • campbell is a man....what a disappointment

  • its always jim lee...hahaha

  • hes an alien from outer space. I can tell by the way he holds the pencil. Hmm... So thats his secret...

  • @frightenedanconfused I was thinking the same thing....the way I hold my pencil...I mean all this time I was holding it the wrong way!

  • Yo! Awesome Campbell!

  • I hold pens the same way lol, its just natural and more comfortable for me for some reason. Teachers in school used to say it was wrong though ;P

  • dang, wassup pentel graphgear 1000 mechanical pencil?

  • wow! he uses whiteout? did he seriously use whiteout? thats pretty cool imo!

  • People can say whatever they want, but I consider Campbell the greatest comic artist ever. I've never seen anyone who has impressed me quite the way that he does. The only person who I even thought was comparable to him was Michael Turner and he unfortunately died of bone cancer (RIP). I hope that Campbell returns to Danger Girl at some point and does another (slightly longer) run of it. Danger Girl just wasn't the same at all when others attempted to expand on the story.

  • Amazing)

Kinda odd the way he holds the pencil.

  • J. Campbell is my fave!

  • It would mean the world to me if I could meet him someday.

  • I love watching people drawing.

  • H-How does he draw holding a pencil like that?....Looks painful...anyways, really awesome. :]

  • i ues to hold my pencil like a fork too!

  • That's how I hold my pencil :)

I have an A in my art class too, connection? I can only dream of being as good as he is, but maybe someday...

  • @elindean douche.

  • that way of grab the pencil is a little weird, i'm amazed he can draw like that!

  • That was pretty bizarre at 2:13 where he rubs out his entire pencil sketch only to begin to ink it in at 3:15 O.o;;

  • @Rowlannnn21 doesn't matter how he's holding his pencil....he's making more money than me and you (and probably 25 other people) combined!

  • I love campbell! he's such a great drawer!

  • Damn!

Now that is how you draw Harley Quinn!

  • lol i have the same pencil its $ 17 bucks it lasted me for like 5 Mont's than it prock lol.

  • What great work!

  • my favourite comic artist and man i love how he draws women! ;)

  • hate the way he holds his pencil.

  • Dos it matter How any one holds there pencil? I think its stupid In schools they say you hold your pencil wrong wan you can wright Just fin. I dont hold my pencil right as wail BUT i can draw as wail. HE dos hold it in a way i have never seen before tho BUT hes work is top notch!!!

  • no its doesnt matter, but i think im entitled to my own opinion.

  • Thats fair.

  • @Rowlannnn21 Yeah, watching him do it makes me want to cut my own hand off and throw it out to the feral cats we have living in the yard. One of them is orange.

  • Gotta be strange having somebody (mostly silently) hovering over you with a camera while you draw. Guys like JSC are probably somewhat accustomed to that sort of thing, but it'd freak me out.

  • wow i can't see how he can see what hes doing cuz the way he holds his pencil.. hes blocking the drawing!

  • J. Scott Campbell is one of my favorites. I love the cartoony style.

  • jim lee, travis charest, mark silvestri, j scott campbell, Whilce Portacio, tod mcfarlane, greg capullo, Rob Liefeld, michael turner, andy kubert, adam kubert, Scott McDaniel, brett booth, joe madureira

  • What happen to Joe Mad and Battle Chasers?

  • wish i knew

  • He does video game, search for ''darksiders''.

he did a comicbook for marvel about the ultimates but nothing new for bc..

  • Thats Joe Madureira your thinking about

  • Sigh... That comic was awesome. I hope it gets finished!

  • BC was forced to close at the #09 'cause of the continued delays by Joe Mad penciling!!!

  • da claw grip o snapz!!

  • lol i have that pencil lol i like it .

  • Wow, I've never seen anyone hold a pencil/pen like that =/

He still manages to draw awesome...

  • @wheresmycheesecake Yeah, its pretty weird! but you know what? it works for long strokes!! :D

  • @wheresmycheesecake monkeys!!

  • @wheresmycheesecake he probably holds it that way because he grips the pencil too hard the conventional way. Gripping the pencil too hard eventually just cramps the hell out of your hand. (stop laughing) it happens to me so I had to learn to hold the pencil a different way so it won't cramp my hand. just my theory.

  • @spiralmc No you're right, I'm a full-time illustrator now and when you spend hours upon hours drawing your hand actually can't take it. Took me a while to learn why he holds it this way, and now I occasionally do this also lol

  • how the fuck is he holding his pencil

  • leifeld is way way worse than this guy, this guy aint bad he aint great but he cnt be tht bad if jim lee saw something in him

  • It's very nice to watch and learn how a professional artist works with pencil and then ink. I was a bit suprised over the grip.

  • I met him in Chicago, he's super cool and super nice as well.

  • so awsome 0_0

  • stunning!

  • Why did he eased it and draw em again??

  • The first was just a rough pencil sketch

  • claw grip??

  • Cool vid. What kind of tools did he use after he erased the first pencil lines? Also how long did it take him in total to finish the drawing?

  • so awesome!!!

  • Un giorno sarò uno di loro!

  • Another great video! Good idea filming them, it's awesome getting to see the pros draw :)

  • you guys are so freakin lucky to have access to artists like JSC, im from australia and i would give anything to meet him in person, let alone get a JSC original done for me!!!

  • he has a Deviant art profile, you can talk to him there! xD

  • that's awesome, i'm glad you were able to capture this video of my sketch that Mr. Campbell was nice enough to draw for me.

  • thats amazing how did you get him to draw you something? paid him off? or wha1? lucky...great vid though

  • Unfortunately for me, it's not my sketch, but Campbell was doing sketches for a fee at the show and I was around to record the whole thing.

    Glad you like it!

  • Most artists are going to have a fee, but of all the sketches I've gotten, about 2/3 of mine were freebies.
