I wonder if this was a test for boy meets world. since the shows shared Michael Jacobs as a producer. I sorta wonder if boy was a dumb down version of this show. still a small town, hard working parents. Kirby makes me think of Cory and Dorothy is very simarler to Topanga.

@godsfiddler No, it isn't. Im so glad Im not a teenaged kid. Im 31, and its great! I get to pretend to be a teenager when I want, only Im an adult and I dont have mean kids to deal with. I can be cool.
@silverdisciple probably. But unlike Hannah Montana, Dorothy Jane comes from a more relatable middle class home, a drive to be intelligent and work. And Hannah Montana is a spoiled rich-brat who has no real family values unless you like watching Billy Ray Cyrus and Emily Osment use their family connections to keep an "acting job".
Dorothy Jane's twang is not tacky, which is something that Hannah Montana's twang is full of. Hence, old school Disney rocks and the new version SUCKS hardcore.
Merideth Reed is actually played by actress Vinessa Shaw, who made her debut in the Rodney Dangerfield comedy "Ladybugs" and then went on to do "Hocus Pocus" opposite Bette Midler and Sarah Jessica Parker. :)
