Andreas, do you wear insoles with the Cascadias? I find that there is a bit of a lump between the heel and the forefoot along the side ridge of your foot. I just got these in the mail. Don't know if it will be a big problem or not. I will have these for wet weather and downpour boots. Some snow maybe.
Alright so Gore-tex and E-vent. Gore-tex is an excellent product it will always be waterproof and is backed by an unquestionable guaranty no matter what product it is in.It breaths ok but as long as you keep it clean it basically won't wear out after many years of use.It is sandwiched in the fabrics where most proprietary's are sprayed on.E-vent will hopefully work better and be as durable. They were recently bought out by GE, so now you might see a warranty as good as gore-tex
The sound was extremely low. At one point the volume went up for a second and then back down. Volume was better when you picked up the camera. Out of curiosity, why didn't you do this test outside?
Those Cascadias look comfy. I've got bad boot experience starting off with the military-issue jungle boots, 'nuff said. These boots here seem to be for light-to-medium hiking. What about heavy-duty stuff, full-gusset tongues and metal shims and all that? I'd like you to try out something like that as well and let us know what kinda difference it makes when worn for a couple hours or so. You should be able to fully submerge that kind of boot up to the opening.
I think the Cascadia would be my preference.....especially if they are available in a 3/4 top or just above the ankle. I'm not a huge fan of the full boot height. Nice review and great test. Solid!
I'm not sure that I like water proof boots all that much. Always paranoid my feet will sweet themselves into a bloody pulp. BTW, great test. I think the Cascadia would be my choice between the two. Also, I think 30sec is pretty realistic.
Thats where high-end waterproof/breathable materials like gore-tex come in. these materials allow water vapor (sweat) to escape, while blocking liquid water from coming into the shoe. I've never had any sweating issues with Gore-tex or the eVent in these boots.
These Cascadia boots are with ion-mask treatment?

@millionsofmyles I don't wear insoles with them, I can't say I've noticed a problem, but I'll keep my eye open for it.

Cool video Andreas! I have a pair of Gortex lined boots and an eVent jacket. Very happy with both.

I love Merrell, they fit great. There are a ton a styles, but you just have to figure out which one is the "built" one for the outdoors.
Testing is the only way.
Great Channel!!!

@Tacticalgearhead Cool. I've never really messed around with Gortex and didn't know if it was marketing BS or not.
