  • what a tune..........people have forgotten about this and they are fools for it..... fire

  • @RootsDaughter41926........that Nina Simone story reminds me of George McCrae.

He was at No.1 in the U.S. and the U.K. and 80 other countries in 1974 with 'Rock Your Baby'. He was obviously unhappy with his management as

one day he went to his Manager's office with a gun and drove off in the Manager's Cadillac.

It turned out to be a rented car !

Babes, I loved Barbara Jones 'Will you still love me Tomorrow'.

The answer is oui oui, not just tomorrow, but forever and ever.

  • Part 2. song was written by Cat Stevens.

It has also been covered by Love Affair,Keith Hampshire, Leona, Sheryl Crow, James Morrison, Rod Stewart and Gene Pitney. GENE PITNEY !!!!!????

Think my favourite cover version is by Barbara Jones, followed by Dawn Penn.. Love the original too.

    Babes ?Oui toi, en Aquitaine.

Which is your favourite version, darling ? xx

  • Apparently, Cat Stevens sold this song to pp Arnold IN 1967 for 30.00 pounds.

( wonder if he still gets royalties from it ?).

Little was he to know back in 1967 how many artists over the years would cover this song.

There are reggae versions by Norma Frazer, the Sixth Revelation,Joy White, Marcia Griffiths, Dawn Penn, Hortense Ellis, Barbara Jones and i Roy Trojan.

Other versions are by Linda Ronstadt, Papa Dee, the Koobas, Duffy, Sunrise Avenue, Big Mountain, Bonfire, and Kashief Lindo

  • @MrDoobie28 ...you know I always remember the story of the late Ms Nina Simone being paid just $2000 for "My Baby Just Cares for Me" and never having received any royalities.... that song is such a classic priceless (pure money maker). Barbara Jones is one my favourite ladies so probably her version... but some songs exceed the singer no matter who's singing them...

  • nice song.....i love it.....

  • Sweet thanks for sharing it RootsDaughter41926

  • OMG!!! WHO SANG THE ORIGINAL VERSION?

  • @Souvenirbaby101 ... Cat Stevens is the original (today better known as Yusuf Islam)

  • @Souvenirbaby101 Original was Cat Stevens, the original Jamaican version was by Norma Fraser

  • Not heard this before, thanks!

This sounds like the same/very similar skin flesh & bones backing track used by Merelene Webber. Do you have the version to this?

  • @Lebowski69 .... I'll have to check for you... I do have a few tunes by Skin, Flesh & Bones... but off the top of my head I can't say if it's the tune you're refering too.... or did you mean by Merlene Webber... if so I definitely don't have that ....

  • yeah i mean the merelene webber one, does it use the same backing? it sounds very similar, right down to the phaser on the drums, i love that cut so much, do you have a version to this joy white cut?

  • nice music ....big up joy white in her time

  • mommy big up with love.....

  • Real mummy and daddy music. Nice.
