@Plinkplink4life acoustic instruments are certainly not boring like homie said, & this drum machine certainly is a cheesy piece of equipment, but the world of MPCs, looping, sampling, and especially turntablism is really beautiful and rich. hip hop has really done amazing things to music. maybe YOU should check it out brother. look up dj tigerstyle. you are definitely missing out.

You might be surprised, but some of the biggest hits ever were made on complete POS's. DJ Scratch is one producer that turned that into an artform. He would get the whackest beat machines he could find and turn out bangers. It practically made Busta Rhymes's career as a soloist with Scratch's approach.

Why do people talk so much shit on the steetbox? It's not an MPC nor was it ever designed to compete with one. This drum machine is for the sole purpose of an "inexpensive" way to create beats. You use this type of drum machine as your scratch pad away from home. It's more than capable of producing some killer beats that you can later replicate on your MPC. The StreetBox works VERY WELL for EXACTLY what it was designed to do. You can't ask for much more in the price range of $180

if u have another drum machine trigger one of ur patterns by midi in it gets off beat,thats the way i like to use mine and thats my only problem with it,for some reason it syncs perfectly with yamaha keyboards even the demos on radio shack 30 dollar keyboards but roland,u mite as well forget it,if theres someone who knows why it gets off beat please let me kno

You gotta check out the 24 bass-synthesizer presets as well. Its perfect for hiphop.

Theres alot of good drums in it more variation than the DR 880 which ive played with right next to the streetboxx but i prefered the Streetboxx cause of its many styles and its compressor.

The drums sfx beatbox vocals are usefull for me but theres also alot of wack sounds which ive replaced in every kit.

Its a cool toy to have besides your main sequencer.
