  • Childhood!

  • @pocketgoth

It's Neil Taylor on guitar, right ?

He's even playing his furious solo, but i don't hear anything of it 'cause Roland's playing his stupid power riff over him all the time... LOL

The better version, to me, is watch?v=Xm33uVBlykk

  • Awesome. Love Tears For Fears.

  • Legendary

  • My ex was a cheater! bastard asshole!

  • One of the most powerful intros....

  • Songs from the Big Chair sounds much better on vinyl than CD. Don't get me wrong, the CD is good but vinyl is better. Playing it on a DUAL CS-721 probably don't hurt either! ;-)

  • ha ha : ) Jerry... : )

  • TFF RULES

  • Whether vinyl, tape or cd versus live performances - this group is fantastic.

  • interesting, I just noticed the drums sound like being mixed with natural sounds and a simmons sds V module!

  • I think that chick playing the keyboards is Caroline, Rolands wife. Doesn't anyone know for sure?

  • @shanana000 The keyboardist is Nicky Holland.

  • HOLY CRAP HE HAS AN EXTREMELY THICK BRITISH ACCENT, I knew he was British but DAMN.

  • that's the fuckin way to play the God demn guitar.

    Amazing

  • muito foda muito boa

  • that Roland is 222222 pretty 4 me!

  • loving the dance moves :P ugh but i still love the tune

  • why is the 80's so full of "once in a lifetime" artists? That era is so lucky.

  • This must have been one of the most amazing gigs with Tears for Fears at their absolute peak.

Wish I had been there. An experience to die for.

  • Love this song! I think it was one of their best!! :)

  • i can't believe i never saw them live...i soooo missed out!

  • @junknira And that's your own fault because they just toured the US West Coast last summer and the US East Coast this summer. I had been waiting 25 years myself. I decided to go to two shows, they were that good!

  • i love this tune!!! UBERKOOLITO!

  • what is the in the red shirt doing?

  • i think he is a second guitarer

  • @BigNateize Red Shirt is playing lead guitar....but I sense an early demise.

  • classic tune. brings so many memories of childhood back

  • This absolutely rocked...Thanks so much for sharing!

  • This my favorite song by them!=)

  • hello

    cheers

happy new year and best wishes

    claudine movsessian

  • thanks for your comments

if no answer, is because I'm busy

    greetings

  • yeah Curt seems to not like their look back then. I had no prob with their look... He says, he likes the t-shirts he wares now lol lol. New tour dates posted on Curt's sites. TFF to tour so far around Australia/NZ April 2010 and Asia May 2010. Check out Curt Smith site or Facebook to get the information from the horses mouth... I'm in the US so I'll have to wait. TFF, they're more than an addiction hahaha

  • i'm with you on the waiting and the addiction part :)

  • @webwezal They sure are web...too bad i am not in my country (Philippines) to see them live :-( amp! Hope they do Middle East too...

  • Daa that is not Jerry Sinfield that is Roland Orzabal don't insult him like that lol i am jokeing

  • Jerry Seinfeld rocked back then. Sing AND play guitar, a double threat.

  • @dellsupportcenter That's not Jerry Seinfeld. It's Roland Orzabal.

  • @dellsupportcenter who the hell is jerry seinfeld ? he certainly isnt in this video

  • @lilodevil jerry seinfeilds a comedian.

  • @dellsupportcenter

thank you. i thought i was the only one that thought that dude looked like seinfeld...

  • Great track - but the singer needs a fashion consultant.

  • He always has! Hes an attractive man all the same!

  • He´s english.... Duh!!!! LOL

  • In order to have fashion you first need to have a sense of fashion.

To quote Curt: "I look back on it now and think that it's hideous."

  • Great! Great! Great!

  • People!! I need this song's tab. I need the Bass part... If you can help, please help me, because it is very important;)

  • I can hear 'Head Over Heels' da da da da dada in it. :)

and the end part is definitely from it..

    Hmm wow. :)

    I love Head over heels. :) :)

  • JA JA JA...

Yes, exactly how I remember it from the...eh hem...did I say TAPE! Yes, I did.

Believe it or not I still have original vinyls and some 8 tracks.

  • @melissastrawbridge

If you listen to 1.03 you hear the pianoriff that opens Head over Heela severly sped up. (On teh album it's much clearer) but it's another exemaple how Broken and Head over heels are incredibly similiar.

  • very progressive... hail TFF!!!

  • The singer in this video is Roland, the better vocalist of the two.

  • Roland has indeed a power voice, but Curt has, in my opinion, more soulful voice. Each has different style, the songs they sing fit their vocals perfectly. I'm a huge TFF fan, and I love Curt;-)

  • Well of course you'd prefer Curt. And I prefer Roland.Thats my opinion!

  • @thesunandtherain Just no need to point that out.

  • @thesunandtherain if your a true tears for fears fan, you wouldnt be saying whos better than who, because they both make the bamd what it is. If you didnt notice, Rolands solo attempt for Tears for Fears got nowhere. Im pretty sure everybody prefers them being together as a band.

  • wow! for how low curts singign voice is he sure has a higher piched voice than i expected! but he is definitly still my favorite singer...!!!

  • This video always makes me smile!

  • Another one of my favorite bands from the 80's. At first I didn't care for their arrogant attitude regarding some of the other bands I liked....but that soon was water under the bridge. These guys were (and still are) badassed musicians.

  • curt is a sick mofo on bass

  • hey mightyjavy, if thats not a compliment to curt, im gona find you and seriously make your life miserble

  • LOL! @ goldeneye:-D

  • Easy man!It was a compliment!And if it hadn´t been that,calm down!!!!!!!!!

  • One of the most interesting aspects of this song is the irony of how the music sounds so uplifting and has that in-your-face rock sound when the lyrics are actually totally the opposite. It's about hopelessness. Had this song been on 'The Hurting' album, it would have sounded different to this version. 'Songs from the Big Chair' album had that extroverted quality which many people could relate to. It had a universal appeal in that sense.

  • I could not agree with you more. I listen to ever liric Tears comes out with, so on that note I do understand what he's singing about. It's a great song.

    ~Stacey~

  • Que alegria rever esse vídeo,já que amo essa música.....Bons tempos....

  • My happiness is seeing them smiling and jumping all over like that. =)

  • Jam!!! On Tears For Fears!! I'm an 80's kid to the core from Wisconsin!! I lived by this "CD tape" LOL on the way to work. Loved every tune. Songs From The Big Chair!!

  • What is the line "One little boy anger one little man" all about?

  • Isn't it "One little boy into one little man"? Referring to growing up.."time flies".

  • the anger/pain makes u grow up quik ,my interpitation.

  • Was that Roland putting up the band name on the marquee? Because it certainly looked like Roland's ass?

  • No, but they are wearing the same outfit, it seems like.

  • Now that was funny. :) Curt wore a turban and Roland thought that he was Indian? L.O.L!

  • Comment removed

  • GOSH. ' He thought I was Indian '

    ' I thought He was French '

BTW, This video is WONDERFUL. Both of them seem to be enjoying.

    =D

  • Curt and Roland used to say that the 'Songs from the Big Chair' tour was the most taxing and energy sapping period of their musical history. They have also said they didn't enjoy very much and it became a chore for them later. But can any of you ever believe them while watching this footage? Look at the way they are performing this song and the way they speak. On video, TFFs performance at Massey Hall in Canada was the most energetic and the most enjoyable.

  • I have this dvd and it looks to me that they are enjoying it.I'll bet when they look back now they realize that. From this dvd probably Broken and The Working Hour are my favorites, although the whole thing is good.I don't know if anyone could offer me enough money that I would give this up! TFF will always be the best!!

  • Simply The Best!

  • Roland was hot.

  • my marching band is doing the music of tears for fears this year, this is my favorite song to play on the mellophone! This and Head Over Heels.

  • I believe I would be an alumni of that band...Is it Beavercreek? (lol!)

  • Yeah, it's beavercreek

  • When I was in drumline in high school we did a show of Tears For Fears arrangements. It was infinitely awesome playing some of the best music out there.

  • WOW!

  • They're the kings.

  • Could you please put up the awesome sax solo by William Gregory wich marks the transistion from 'I Believe' to 'The working hour'?

I'll be so gratefull if you did.

  • Cheers... i missed this.

  • This video was released on DVD about 3 years ago, called 'Scenes from the Big Chair' and is still available, it also has their live concert from around 1990 on it, which is great.

  • Thanks for the info! :)

  • This is on their home video for the Songs from the Big Chair tour video released in 1985. It's probably out of print but maybe you can find it on Ebay.

  • this is the kind of music that will never get tiring to you.. if u listen to it over and over!!!! lol and i do... TFF is the best ever!!!

  • What a strange bass that guy's playing...

  • too weird indeed. It's a Steinberger bass. Curt was into headless basses (also played Status basses a lot)

  • The people is really really close!

    Amazing atmosphera!

  • tff es lo máximo!

  • TFF is the best!

  • adoro o tff

  • so young

  • Better live than on record, amazing.

  • Yes, sounds more powerful!

  • My favorite band since 1982...they are still amazing...saw them in concert 20 years ago and this brings back memories...so glad to view this!

  • Wow! I have never seen Tears for Fears in concert and it is a dream for me to see them live! I have been a fan for a long time, though (for about 16 years)!

  • I'm, truly, jealous.

I've been a fan for about 5 years now, and I can't get tired of them! They're amazing!

  • i barely started to like tham but it seems i will like them for many years to come

  • Such a cool performance! Love the bass line! The guys seem to be enjoying themselves and Curt looks very cute. Love TFF, love the 80s!

  • Yes they are really cool to listen and watch!

  • Doesn't he all the time? Curt is really really good looking!

  • Curt had a better tone with the Status bass

  • Too bad they didn't do that solo as in the studio version cause it kicks ass.

  • Me too!

  • I wanna learn how ot play the guitar like Roland. Can someone take me to the 80's, pleeeeeeeeaaaaaasssseee?

  • I really miss the music from the 80s.

  • roland giatay ka ka-gwapo genius pa dyud!!!

  • my band is playin this band!

  • My favorite tears for fears song. I miss the sound of the roland jupiter 8. bring back ian.

  • All time band. The best on studio and electronics gadgets. Bring back Ian Stanley!

  • Thank you so much for the good musical vibrational pathway to universal higher ground and the incredible brain endorphin release that this song triggers for me every time i hear it LOL

  • This IS an unforgettable classic! Thank you and AMEN Tears 4 Fears!

  • Jeez thanks a lot Tears for Fears! Now every time I hear this song I have to get up and dance! Especially Roland at 00:41 and 1:07 and 1:14 and Curt at 1:02 lol. Just kidding I love your moves I love you guys, great song ;)

  • wow, at 1:03 i swear you

can hear the begining of their

    song HEAD OVER HEELS

  • Yeah I think they did some weird combination thing with the two of those songs. At the end of Head Over Heels (on the CD) you can hear Broken.

  • Broken has the same melody/bassline as broken and therefor the connected the two.

Broken goes into Head over heels and when head over heels ends, a reprise from broken is played.

    Simply genius.

  • Thx 4 the info!

  • Tears for Fears Is Da Shit!!!! Top of da line!!! from a tff fan!!! Del rio, Texas

  • i love roland o.,curt s.,jessica marie s.,ian s.,manny e.and the rest of the band! TIIRZ 4 FIIRZ!!!!!

  • tears for fears is the best band i ever knew...for the combination of the talents of its musicians...just listen how they make this fabulous and unique sound......if only they were younger

  • I'll second that

  • got "scenes from the big chair" pirated dvd copy from philippines.

  • What's funny: I always thought Broken was a duet with Curt singing the first verse and Roland the second and third.

Too bad it isn't, but still an awesome song! :D

  • I have this on dvd.A must have for any TFF fan. Thanks for posting.

  • Where you get it from?

  • I got it at a music store called Rolling Stones in Chicago. Its like a library of music and they are alot cheaper then most music stores.I've also seen it at Best Buy but it was $40.I got it at Rolling Stones for $25.

  • Any way you can pick up a copy and sell it to me lol? I cannot find it for the life of me

  • Yeah, can you imagine these guys lip synching?? EVERYTHING in the 80's was BETTER!!!

  • This song was always a stand out on 'Big Chair' the first two TFF albums are classics.

  • Yeah, me & my sister would play this soooo LOUD!! It was nice to go on the porch & watch the windows vibrate. [sigh] Good Times!!!!![ & yes, time does fly!]

  • The intro of Broken is just... incredible !!

    The bass sound great....

everybody wants to rule the world

    broken

    head over heels...

amazing 3 songs, one played after another....

How many bands can do that?

  • Exactly!

  • Si señor !!

    Coincidimos en gustos !!

  • You are right! I like your comment.

  • Broken and Head over Heels were like "movements" of the same piece.

  • The Lyrics to this are Timeless! You could apply this to the war with Iraq. I wonder if anyone can get any kind of update on them?

  • You are right! i like your comment:-)

  • Thanks! I love the memories this brings back, esp blasting it on the stereo when my parents weren't home.[ Sigh] good times:)

  • I LOVE TEARS FOR FEARS IS AMAZING BAND.

  • la cancion es Broken y en el final head over heels.

En SFTBC tambien esta head over heels/ broken (live), o sea al reves. Roland t qro!
