No you dont, You get an Invite to there beta events which is like 4 day weekends every couple weeks. I have pre orded it trust me

It's release date is Sept 22nd, and is already released in Korea and I 'think' China, so I doubt it'll be slipping much from that date.  The beta test doesn't feel like a beta at all.

I also have GW and I liked it for a long time but now I'm getting bored with it. Also because they nerfd many skills. I was waiting for GW2 to come out but apparently Aion can be a good escape for the moment. Pity it has a month fee; GW is for free but its full of angry spoiled kids...I have this little hope that where you pay for online multiplayer you can find a more mature public...but it's just me

I'm playing chinese open beta if AION, and it's great! I'm so addicted. It's partially pay to play, after like 5 days, but you can either make a new account, or pay for some hours via services on mmosite. There's a whole guide how to play on mmosite as well, including english patch. You can buy a reasonable amount of hours for 3 or 5 USD, so it's really reasonable, especially as a nice long test with no strings attached. Enjoy!
