Finally a poledance video that is not like the rest!!!!!!! thank you! And like that you show your work with it as well and write what you forgot to do.
Just so happy to see a person practice pole that is NOT a girl and is young.
@01707895552 lol..."wired"? ...or "weird"? Perhaps a bit of both then. It's no longer that unusual. We have some 700 members of "Men on the Pole" now and it's pretty respectable as a gymnastic sport for men all over the world. Join us, we'd be happy to have you! /Joel Lessing
Ahh this is fab and I'm a little scared for you at the same time, just got my brass monkey today although not from a flag invert (not strong enough) - from a lay back, Eros then into brass, I suggest pointing those toes a little :) and maybe crossing over the ankles to give you a nice shape, that'll give u an idea of wher ur feet should be.
@VERT1CALDANCER It takes me FOREVER to get any move....I've been off the pole for a while, so I'm not sure I could even do this one anymore. I don't remember how long it took me to do it, but I sometimes spend weeks on stuff...give up...and come back to it later. Thanks for watching!
Thank You, Panjea! The music in the first part of the video is various tracks from Paris Combo...whci is actually an American 'Neo" swing band, I think. The second half is French Pop tunes from Patricia Kaas. She is from the Alasatian part of France, near Germany and works a lot of French and German traditional stuff into a kind of bluesy, jazzy pop style. She has come to the US a few times...but she's hard to see...rarely tours.
i thought you kept the same arm on the pole as the leg for the eros from brass monkey? well done tho, been watchin some of your videos, youve come on well! keep up the good work!x
Thank You! LOL! That's a bit of a dispute in the pole dance community...I think that "opposite" is the majority view....but there are many pictures up on profiles with that move done the way you prefer it...same side to same side. I think both moves are really nice. There's also a way to do Eros from Tammy...I'm working on that this week. Unfortunately, I can't practice today...everyone is out shopping...I never like to pole alone for safety....so maybe tomorrow!
There's a later video where I do both of the moves. Actually, the mechanics are pretty easy fromthe Tammy...you just basically put the OPPOSITE arm down from the leg that is hooked inthe Tammy. Then stretch out the other hand as the "pointer"
Yes....I have seen her aerial hoop video that is circulating on YT. I also heard that she may be attending pole camp with Alena...very lucky ladies to have her along for the September workshops. I know the chaos in names drives some polers a bit crazy. But I have come to love it...because pole dance is an international hobby and I like "seeing" things in all those different ways. When Voelle posted her park video, I was fascinated by the sounds, the birds, the plants, the traffic, so different!
Thank You, Boomloulou. I need to clean up the LEFTY version by remembering to extend the leg out. You also developed your own variation of this move in either your 17th or 18th revision, in which you tilt the move over and back (perhaps you even flipped it all the way over to a gem or scorp). I'd like to get that tilted variation also...and make the move more horizontal. I prepared for this practice by skimming through several of your vids and watching your mechanics!
Yes....it looks like that ancient Greek or Roman god who flies through the air with his arm out (he looks like a chubby little boy). I think his "touch" is supposed to make people fall in love. Cupid is the release pose that you do from the princess. You side climb up the pole in the upright position. One knee stays hooked, the other leg slides down the pole and you lean out sideways. That is the princess. Then when you let go and lean out more...that is the Cupid. I hope I got that right, LOL!
Thank You, Kelly! Yes, you do get bruises for a while, but after a while the skin gets a little tougher. Some of the lady polers swear by an herb called ARNICA. I think it is some sort of creme that helps with bruises. Some of the larger pole studios and web sites actually sell it.
Wow Joel, really impressed!! I love the Eros move, I cannot do Brass Monkey but go into Eros from Gemini to Tammy and then push up into it.Your try at 1.06 looked pretty good, just need to hold it, Bertysbooboo has a good vid of it x
Voelle...you are good at devising combos from many different moves. See, I think the Tammy and the Eros have the leg hooked in reverse ways. Is that right? In the Eros...the ankle-- neither front nor back--isn't engaged at all. RIGHT? And the Tammy is held with ankle power. RIGHT? Maybe I've got it totally wrong...I am kind of "POLE STUPID" that way...I just can't "see" moves in my head at all!
I thought about the relationship between the Tammy and the Eros. But are the knees hooked on the pole the same way? I can't figure anything out without actually trying to do it. I can only go into the tammy from the caterpillar...or simple inverted crucifx. I will try it this weekend and see if Tammy can be converted to an Eros!
I did wonder if that was the case with Tammy to Eros. I have a photo of me in 'my Eros' in my pole play album on facebook, it looks right to me have a look see what you think x
OH YES!...the one with you on the deep blue sky background..NOW I get it...you have derived the position with the inside ankle remaining hooked from the inverted thigh hold (Tammy). Oh..that is brilliant!!! This is what I LOVE about You-Tube...because now you have just written my practice agenda for the next session: I will compare and contrast the 2 methods...see if I can put the move up both ways over the weekend and post a vid. By the way, your pics on FB are pro-quality...really nice stuff!
Try Simplly Sweet's trick to do gymnastic inversions: Keep your knees and legs tucked in close to your chest as possible. Don't extend outward until you are up where you want to be, At first, I was HURLING myself up and over...I did a head over and nearly busted my head, LOL! Scrunch down a little bit in that 1/2 bracket. Then put your head down and look at your knees or shoes. Then gently ROLL forward...like a gentle somersault in the air. Keep your knees close in until you are up..then extend.
Wow awesome job!!! I have to say the eros is in my top 3 of fav moves cause it looks so pretty and strong. Congrats to you, you should be sooo proud : )
Thank You!...it still needs a little work. I need to get more horizontal. In the LEFTY version, I need to stop forgetting to put my non-hooked leg down and out. And I want to do the BOOMLOULOU tilty version...twisting out and over on my back.. I appreciate all of the supportive comments....Thank You!!!
wow joel...! youre so freaking strong!! i STILL cant mount the BM that way, so way to go!! so great to see how far youve come and things that youre still accomplishing.
Thanks, Karol! I sort of reversed what Jamilla always says about inverting the regular way. She says find a spot on the ceiling and tell yourself you're going to put your foot RIGHT there! I just put my head down, look at my shoelaces and tell myself my head is going to go RIGHT there! Actually, your Eros is my absolute favorite...it's so perfectly horizontal..just like you are really flying through the air. I've watched it on one of your older vids many many times!
your doing a great job. yeah I have been busy too so I haven't been able to do much on my pole so hopefully I'll have a video soon :) Great job on the brass monkey.
Thanks, Samantha! I hope you're able to get back to poling soon. I really love your vids...and the music you pick. I'm always wanting to find and download whatever songs you pick out!
Thanks, Sim! ...yes, I wanted to do a clean combo. Once on the right and then on the left. I almost had it, until I forgot to lower the leg in the lefty inversion (the second move in the red-light). I thought barefoot and "performance shorts" (PoleMistress' inventive name for elastic boxers!) would make me more grippy and flexible. It helped with the physical aspect....but I still forgot the mechanics. And that was the end of the memory in the camera. Session over!
damn joel ur brass monkey is fantastic! you just glide right on up there now. u make it look like it took no effort for you what so ever O_O waaa! envy envy!
I am still green with envy about the way you get into brass monkey, cos I still haven't managed it this way, can only get into the thing from Ayesha!
Yes, pole is all physics and levers lol! it's amazing how legs get a mind of their own when they're upside down eh?! Didn't realise that move was call Eros, will have to take that to class hahaha
Boomloulou taught it to me as the "Flight Attendant" If yousee the move done properly...and it requires GREAT strength...the body is more or less completely horizontal...and the arm is extended. Then he looks like the figure of Eros you see in Renaissance paintings. But I think you can maybe visualise it also as a "flight attendant" reaching over to help an airline passenger. At least I think that's why it got that name..but I'm not sure! See Redke71's version of this move in her move catalog.
No no no remember that move is called the Joel. lol Well done and on both sides too! That was great! Question. Why red for the lighting. Is it just personal choise or is that the reason you still show up so clear?
LOL...I get why it is called the Eros....I mean it does look a little like that chubby little ancient Greek god...with the arrows. Or is that Cupid? I always get them mixed up...maybe that is the ancient Roman name for the same little chubby guy. I was always skipping class...so I don't know! As for "flight attendant"--I got that from Boom. She IS a flight attendant...and maybe it looks like you're reaching over to help a passenger? I'm not sure..but Redke gets it horizontal--it looks like that!
Oh...the red lighting...that's just because i was wearing ...uh...underwear (boxers), LOL! and I wanted it to be real dim so nobody could see it too well! I was falling off the pole and I thought shorter shorts would make it safer!
Thanks, Fleur! This was my first practice of any kind in about 10 days, so I felt a little flabby. I'm going to continue to try to clean up the LEFT side inversion....flatten the leverage leg...try to get more horizontal...
this is so cool. ha
