You're absolutely right, that's how you sew the exposed end. If you turn the end in all the way around [I turn in about an inch] then push your internal filler upward and away from the edge, you'll be able to get your sewing machine right on the fabric flat. Sew half an inch from the edge, straight across and once released from the sewing machine, pull your wadding back down to flush with the seam. No pins needed.Hope this helps! you did not show how to sew the exposed end. I have memories of my mom turning the edges in, holding it with pins, and sewing it shut. But I cannot seem to repeat it on my own.
