@UniqueMonique513 excuse me? Borough died, Latimer died, then Henry died, and in her 4th marriage to Thomas SHE died! She was widowed 3 times -- she didn't divorce them! This is NOT Sir Edward Borough -- it is her second husband, Lord Latimer. The Tudors over dramatized this -- there is no historical evidence that Kat Parr had relations with Seymour before Latimer died. She wasn't like that!
@UniqueMonique513 That is a very harsh opinion and if you think about it, adultry was a crime (Just see Katherine Howard). If she had other relations while married, especially to Henry, she would have been beheaded as well
Catherine Parr certainly had a right to be afraid of Henry. I wonder what would have happened if she had told the king she wasn't interested. Would she have been killed?
It is as they have it. Two men were waiting for Lord Latymer's death: Henry and Thomas Seymour. Then Henry made Seymour disappear and married Catherine. But all Tom had to do was bide his time.....
I don't think Joely Richardson suits this period or role; she's a very fine actress, but she looks out of place in the second half of the Renaissance. She has a Rococo look to her, and in The Affair of the Necklace she looked a natural choice to play Marie Antoinette. Some actors look better in different periods, and Catherine Parr was also a brunette.
wait I thought she was a widower when the King married her!!? so why is she married in this season?I don't get it!!!. that is horrible on how they changed this.
@Hattaru : She was a widower when she married Henry but at the time she met Henry, she might have been married as we do not know the exact dates. Lord Latymer died early on in 1543 and she married Henry in July 1543.
@Hattaru She was married, then became a widow when her second husband (Lord Latymer) passed away. She was a widow when she married the King. Of all of King Henry VIII's wives, she went through the most marriages and was widowed three times (both her when her first two husbands and the King passed away).
YEAH!! You got her facts right about Edward Borough!! Thank you SO much!

When Catherine went to see Henry, she had no idea she was going in for a job interview, and she passed with flying colors.

@christy725 I don't know if he would have gone that far; but she would likely have lost all her property at the very least.
happybkwrm 9 months ago
@christy725 Probably not. Catherine Parr would not be killed for refusing the King only for treason against the King.
LadyofCleves65 3 months ago
@LadyofCleves65 Going against the King IS treason. He could have easily had her killed.
hothotheat3000 1 month ago
@christy725 He couldn't kill her for that. But I wouldn't be shocked if she was "a heretic" all of a sudden.
