  • @mrfalconlemat least it had one

  • For October 20010 this was pretty advanced

  • 500 bucks now...

  • This is a very good concept but the problem is that it's too expensive to be used mainstream like it is shown in this video.

  • asus slate ftw

  • Новое поколение просто супер каждому иметь его в кармане

  • why this shit dont have 3g and gps ?

  • ASUS SLATE FTW! :D

  • I want to use this for buisness meetings thar are videorecorded. Is it possible to have the rear camera running while at the same time using word to type?

is there a software that does this. That puts the window for videorecording in the tray or something?

  • 3MP camera. LOL what a joke.

  • Why do people compare this with the ipad? They are both totally different products. This runs a full version of windows which the ipad will never be able to do. Heck they don't even allow flash on there devices. This is more for the business people who have software that's specially built for PCs so it makes sense to have one of these.

  • ipad2 has no phone feature like hp slate does...

  • Apple is arrogant and stupid!!!! im glad that HP is being more American, open and free!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @oithachiei0 Serious?

  • not hating on the product but this is one of the lamest commercials ever.

  • The use of the tablet by the waiter was my favorite!

  • @CliftonPhotographer well...they had this article on CNN where this restaurant owner in ATL has started to use ipads for their menu and to get orders..

    NOW THT IS LAME !!!!

  • @smartdon007 Hmm How the restaurant use of the ipad lame ? Just curious; I belive you have the correct thinking idea here. As a eating customer;I have notice some of my favorite eating places here in DC raise there menu prices EVERY time the equipment is upgraded; Example a a Giant Food grocery store , near my work place, now digital scales with menu screens AND advertising for the produce section

  • "It's our anniversary... uhhuhaha"

  • @BradfordHendricks Was the word "faggots" really necessary?

  • HP only claimed this is 'for businesses', after the original iPad launched. Beforehand, this was their killer tablet for consumers.

I guess businesses don't want smooth multitouch and they don't wand a uber-responsive touch screen, etc.

  • sorry but the ipad 2 kicks this tablet back 2 bill gates but it does look good

  • @macwizful HP Slate 500: Genuine Windows® 7 Professional 32 FreeDOS Intel® Atom™ Processor Z540 (1.86 GHz, 512 KB L2 cache, 533 MHz FSB) 2 GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM External USB 2.0 CD/DVD R/RW 1 USB 2.0 1 combo stereo headphone/mic jack 1 integrated microphone 1 power connector/HP Slate Cradle connector 1 Secure Digital High Definition audio; Integrated stereo speakers; Integrated microphone; Combo stereo headphone/mic jack

A (800, 1900 MHz) Data only Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g/n) Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR technology
  • iPad 2 Continued:

    1GHz dual-core Apple A5 custom-designed, high-performance, low-power system-on-a-chip

Back camera: Video recording, HD (720p) up to 30 frames per second with audio; still camera with 5x digital zoom.

Front camera: Video recording, VGA up to 30 frames per second with audio; VGA-quality still camera

Aside from that, the HP Slate seems better, since the iPad 2 runs a mobile OS... even though the iPad 2 has an HD camera... it still lacks the OS I want, which is a desktop OS.

  • where to buy HP Slate 5000

  • i like it the picture thing and chatting with the webcam i like it

  • How laggy is that. Can't even scale a photo without taking an hour to do it.

  • @jonnyrowntree Like the guy in the top comment said, an x-ray has a resolution of 120000x8000 pixels, thats like 10 - 15 times larger than a regular picture, so resizing that means you need alot of power from the CPU. That takes time my friend.

  • @besie0 wouldn't it make sense for it not to be featured in an ER dept and maybe a family home or outside somewhere with an average photo displayed on the device?

  • @jonnyrowntree the video title clearly says for bussiness. Why show a family or outside somewhere when this commercial is completely bussiness orientated?

  • @besie0 clearly can't handle one type of business. Maybe most businesses would be appropriate.

  • @jonnyrowntree Besides that its gonna be pretty hard to do with an ipad since its processor is 4 times weaker than the baby in this thing.

  • so damn thick...

  • The problem is the heat..seems very fast heating up.

  • @smileysharpie lol it has windows seven and ipad just has an oversized iOS running on an oversized ipod

  • Why the heck "business" Tablet? I mean never give these to the kids, they just get worse at handwriting.

  • This tablet is not for media stuff, as HP is advertising it is for BUSINESS clients, not every day consumers. It was built for POS, viewing PDFs, and what I will be using it for, showing clients past products and quick books POS software, and controlling things music and lights around the store. I for one am excited about this product...

  • asus eee slate is much better

  • LOOKS LAGGY...

  • I´m not an apple fan boy, actually I hate them, but this it seems so lame, I´ll never buy this thing :S ...

  • i want to know, is this better than the EEE slate ep121 by asus, or is this the one i should buy?

  • @aimannorzahariwod wondering about the same, if you ever get a logical answer, post it please

  • Can someone please write a reply to this comment and just answer out of interest why I can't find this Slate on ANY major stores like Amazon etc?

  • awesome :D

  • I'm fine with my DS Lite

  • looks awesome, can't wait to get one

  • I think using a tablet to photograph your car's dent is very impractical and silly.

  • @fukae People said the same thing about cell phones.

  • @TheSeniorOne Cell phone is like 1/8 the size of this thing. Around the size of your smaller cameras so I don't see where you are going.

  • @fukae Not for an insurance adjuster, as specifically HP states its not for personal use.

  • Wow what a piece of shit, I can't believe they actually showed it lagging at 0:17 not a good sign.

  • cuanto costara en mexico

  • better than the ipad will ever be

  • @BradfordHendricks fa sho.

  • I got mine middle of Mar. Since then back cover warped. I also had a problem when the battery had died while in suspend/hibernate. The Windows OS said to hit F11 or something like that to resume startup or boot fresh and loose your data. The screen did not recognize any inputs. I finally held the power btn down to reboot it. The last straw was 2 days ago. Playing with the camera and folded the cover down thinking it would hibernate/sleep. It didn't. Got pretty hot after about 1 hour. Returning.

  • Looks great but, if something goes wrong your screwed by HP service. If you own a hp laptop and have had problems you know what i mean. You end up talking to a tech in India or the Phillipeans and paying them for something they can't help you with. In one case we had to pay HP 85.00 for their comment , "Sorry we can't help solve this problem. You will have to take your computer to a computer specialist". Forget about getting your money back because you clicked the "I Agree Button" to be able to

  • They should make a consumer version, that will attract more people buying it.

  • who knows about the digitizer on this? Is it pressure sensitive? Does the pen require a battery? is the touch screen resistive of capacitive? I would use it first and foremost for Onenote with the pen, so active digitizer is a must...

  • 0:16

  • MUCH BETTER THAN THE "Apple iPad2"

  • HP stands for pure HORSE POWER!

  • @SMGJohn No it doesn't. it stands for hewlett packard.

  • @carofrocks Sigh... z_z''

I know that... My comment, no wait you know what. nevermind you would not understand at all... X_X*

  • I'm selling my tablet..go to my page and go to the link for something better than this for less than 700 dollars!

  • wow! I see so many negative comments here and yet I am so excited that p.c.s have come so far. I love it, love it, love it. Windows tablets do everything a tablet should do and more. It simply does everything you need.

However ... if you have a problem using windows O.S. then obviously this is not the device for you... warning this is not a phone O.S. There are ports, cardreaders and more here, if this is too much 4 u ... there are other options.

4 me windows is the only option!

  • @ 0:15 that was glitchy.

  • @Infrardec

Yeah those 12000x8000 resolutions photos taken with todays x-ray machines sure are hard to run.

  • @Adrianlunnon I suppose one could stream them from a more powerful server.

  • @Adrianlunnon

    not with a normal device.

  • 132 people are ipad fanboys and im one of them!!! lol

  • It's a piece of junk, I got mine yesterday, set it up. This morning it would not come up, Windows is asking me if I want to restore to a previous state. The problem is the keyboard is non-responsive, neither pushing the keyboard button nor trying to use the touch screen work, the touch screen is also non response. I called HP and their tech support does not even know what this product is, they told me that "because it is a new product we are still learning to use it" a call back was promised.

  • @hpcomputers I think you guys have a really good product here. But you should really expand your marketing, to make the Slate better known. People only think of the iPad when it comes to tablets. If you invest on larger marketing, this could have good sales.

And also: when will it be available for purchase? Is HP.com still the only place to buy it? I'm looking forward to having one of these. A lot.

  • @texmexman From what I gathered from other videos, the Slate is a lot less business-y than this video might make you think. But that's because it's marketed towards business users, I think. It's a regular Windows 7 system, with all of W7's features and programs, from what I've understood.

Personally, I'd go with this. I'd really like to have an iPad, but if I had to pick one, it would be the Slate. Too bad this thing is only available at HP's website. Sucks, doesn't it? ¬¬

  • Comment removed

  • is this thing fun for regular non business users?

    also ipad or this?

  • HP should make this device available at Amazon, BestBuy, and every other retailer, right now, the business only distribution channel model, is creating a black market just for this device, you can only get it at ebay or HP, i think HP knows the potential of this device, and it will or could compromise the WebOS based tablet

  • The only reason why windows dominate the software market is not because of a quality product, but a good business and marketing system... Bill Gates was only concerned with market domination... he didn't care about the product, whereas Apple was more concerned about building a quality product that actually works.

Its the same with McDonalds... can you make a better hamburger than mcdonald? Unless you're a retard, most people can. But let me ask you this: How come you're not a multi-billionaire?

  • @hyusama so if windows doesnt works why im using it without problems?

  • BTW, I know this cause I've got a HP Touchsmart tm2 which runs the same crap win7 interface. I almost litterally chucked the damn thing in the bin... but I realise it wasn't HP's fault.

And don't think that microsoft is going to change windows anytime soon... its been almost 20 years or so since win95, and win7 is just a really really really good version of win95, which is still a piece of crap (WHY ARE THERE STILL VIRUSES YOU RETARDS?)

  • ... microsoft might as well did what hitler did and murdered a sh*tload of innocent people)

    * Bluescreen while taking an order, bluescreen while trying to get information to save a patients life, bluescreen while sending an email on a high prority deadline to close a million dollar business deal, bluescreen while skyping, bluescreen while facebooking, bluescreen while watching porn, greenscreen while watching a movie, bluescreen for no damn reason.. F*CK YOU FOREVER MICROSOFT

  • ... and if you rest your hand on the screen it will register and you'll end up clicking on sh*t you didn't want to... making you lose focus, lose productivity, lose time, lose money, and waste another few minutes of your life dealing with PoC Microsoft. (btw, if you tally up the amount of time lost worldwide due to frustration, data loss, programs not working properly, missing plugins and dlls, crashes, viruses and everything else caused by microsoft...

  • ...

    * Forget about using your fingers because the onscreen keyboard is hard to see. You'd need pinpoint accuracy because Piece of Crap windows designed by morons will basically convert you finger to a mouse cursor, so it'll probably take like 2-3 times to press the damn close button. You'd have to use the pen, in which case it will be inaccurate by 2-10 pixels depending on whether or not there's something behind the screen that will interfere with the wacom system...

  • HAHAHA... did you see the incredible amount of LAG when the doctor was pinch zooming? How embarassing... This is going to be an absolute disaster and you can blame Microsoft and their half arsed windows 7 crapware.

I'll give you dot points on the flaws of why this would be almost useless (thanks to microsoft, not HP)

    * Realistic battery life would be like maybe 3 hours max normal usage cause windows is inefficient piece of crap...

  • mehh i like the xoom better.

  • mini or micro HDMI

  • Mini or Micro HDMI port?

  • Hahaha... it lagged heavily in the demo... great job!

  • i heard this from newpapers 2day and i was excited

one of the bad things i didnt like was

    1) why is it so laggy when the doctor tries to zoom the x ray hand ?

    2) why vga cam? sad T_T

    3) the user seems to press so hard on the screen and when using microsoft words it seem that its slow and unresponsive

but 2 things i that catched me

    1) USB and SD slot....omg...i so need that on a tablet ...must have !!!!

    2) running on windows 7 =D....thats my style

  • Wow. Amazing. Just make sure you keep up with your Windows 7 updates. Also make sure your anti virus software has the most recent definitions along with your malware detection application. Oh, and just to keep things running smoothly, run a registry cleaner every once in a while or you will see a noticeable reduction in performance. Other than that, yes, Windows 7 will make an excellent tablet OS.

  • i am not into buisness ... but i would really like to get one of those

  • the iPad is fun and cool looking, but this does look far more useful for someone who is looking for a real replacement for their laptop.

Btw, anybody know if you can get any kind of software on this device? For example, there is a program I use in college (and will likely use in my career) that is installed with a disc. Could I get this program onto this tablet or not?

  • HP slate... real deal for a whole $799... and only 5 hrs of battery life

I love people that say they need true multi-tasking. Useless with a screen size that small. All you need in minimal background tasking.

  • iPad = oversized iPod = $500 - $800. Apple scammed a lot of "idiots" of off their money. Hp Slate on the other hand is the real deal. Thumbs up if you agree.

  • lol, you notice whenever the screen goes super slow at doin stuff, they cut away from it? lol

  • running on windows 7? hell no. I have a mac at home and I have a windows at work. Hate my windows laptop.

  • amazing

  • the ipad can't do half of the things that's right but to be true windows tablet is not as good as android or ios because it's not really good using it feels a bit weird. hope the cost is no more than $600 because it can't fully replace a notebook or a desktop

  • I think the Ipad & the HP Slate look great. I am committed to neither company, I choose on specs.

    1. Webcam (Not an issue for ifans) I love to chat via Skype, Yahoo Messenger

    2. Flash! I love it, I don't need a workaround app to view it. (All the problems you have with it have never been an issue here.

    3. USB Ports for so many reasons

    4. Built in card reader, how in the hell can this be a dissadvantage?

    5. True multitask

If none of this interest you, then The Ipad is perfect!

  • And how's the battery?? Or it don't have interior space for one??

    LOL

  • Does anyone know if the touchscreen responds to feel or express?!?!?!?!

    Plz help me!

  • @chivvoda Вестчь )

  • lets just all agree that this is way better than teh ipad

  • Like this if you looked away and thought someone was calling you on skype!

  • What kind of games could this run? Is it able to run a downloadable one like Minecraft? Do certain operating systems run smoother on it? These are my questions.

  • @WestlyProductions Who gives a shit? you want a portable gaming platform go buy a PSP,DS or PSPmini or a Alienware laptop

  • does it have flash

  • This looks good from a business point of view where users want scaled-down laptop computer functionality and not just a scaled-up iPod functionality.

  • Go for a coffee with beautiful girls naneedj.info

  • Would this be good for a college student?

  • @MrMaestro14231 i would recomend a macbook or other laptop

  • That Doc took his time, patient damn near dead by now. Wake me up when you can create cartoons in Flash with this.

  • lmao at the lag on the X-RAY LMAO LMAO

    ipad 4 the win

  • @lmaballa ipad sucks d#### so get over it!!!!! no one cares about ipad the new upcoming tablets are the important so stop thinking about sucky technology and go with the flow to this video why watch it if you dont like it

  • @lmaballa What a noob. On every touchscreen enabled Windows Computer you use it will lag like that. That's just how Windows is optimized for touchscreen devices.

  • @Snowintosh y must b always be touchscreen lag or not? if it is suitable for sum1, thn go for it. not every1 must buy i(products)

  • @akurohunter I don't like i(Products).

  • Comment removed

  • @akurohunter At least everyone that buys i(products) knows how to use and type full words. The crap non-i(products) you use are so clunky and difficult to use, it must b y u need 2 type like this. ;-) And what's with the grammar, too? You can't even type in coherent sentences..... and you're criticizing? Get a life....and maybe grow a brain cell or two, you lazy ignorant troll.

  • @lmaballa : iPad is just as bad especially on Google Maps...

  • Lol at that sluggish pinch to zoom on the x-ray. Even if you don't want an iPad, why get this, when you can soon get a Xoom or PlayBook?

  • @Gregz0r1 : I would say because it runs the same OS as the computer you use everyday at work (Windows) and it actually works (Motorola just showed a video at CES because it wasn't ready for a proper demo, although this may be due to Android 3 rather than the hardware) and is available now (which the Xoom isn't yet)...

  • i havent seen this in stores yet

  • Just returned mine today.. after a week of usage.. lack of power unresponsive touch screen choppy camera .. may be a case of bad hardware.. I will just have to wait for next round

  • @RajSachdeva thats no bad hardware, its obsolete hardware.

  • 125 + 1 (ME) = regret buying IPAD

  • my god what a tablet!!

  • 125 people who regret buying an ipad

  • bought an ipad for christmas, and i havent touched my laptop since starting my holiday. However, the short comings of the device are slowly coming to light in terms now that im about to head to back to work and I have to start doing some real with the computer.

a gazillion apps in the marketplace, and i cant find anything moderately serious for 3D, graphics, audio and word processing...oh well...theres always ebay when a good windows tablet finally comes out.

  • wow guys we all know that win7 doesn't work on a tablet look even in their own ad its laggy windows 7 doesn't work well anywhere on this device

  • wow guys we all know that win7 doesn't work on a tablet look even in their own ad its laggy

  • Ugly actors!! Beautifull gadget!

  • Did you know that , even HP slate is way better than ipad, Filipinos still use ipad, it is because ipad is more popular than hp slate here in Philippines

and i hate ipad, i wish hp company should expound there marketing...

  • it's kinda laggy when the doctor zoom in that x-ray

  • I spent a fortune on an hp pavilion dv9700 and it fried itself a few months after the 1 yr. warranty expired. The service center said this happens with all hp dv's.. ..so what does hp do about it? Nothing. Do not buy hp! unless you want to get screwed.

  • @yellowhue30 I've been more than impressed with my 500 dollar hp laptop (G62) that ive had for a year or so.......must be a cse by case thing.

  • looks stunningly cheap like the rest of HP products.

  • gonna put linux on it if i get one cuz i dont trusts win 7 as a 'mobile platform' while i enjoy it on desktops

  • is this screen recistief of capacitive?

  • It feels...

    wrong!

  • Did anybody else notice how terrible the zoom-in performance on that x-ray image was? 0:17

  • @wakeupfist ya medical images arent typical jpegs of sorts either lol

  • @wakeupfist

AFAIK it shouldn't matter even if it's Hubble's 8Kx8K astrophoto of the Orion nebula, since it's not the res but the way it's handled.

Still, I would choose this over the stupid iPad any day.

  • does it make phone calls ?

  • Has anyone put Linux on it yet? ;)

  • HP is known for innovation and technology, ipad is a snail compared to the processing power the Hp Slate has,as well as more accessories that are included and not sold seperately like all apple products,it cost an arm and a leg to accesorize any apple product,hp will make a dent in that oversized ipod touch

  • It is horrible that you have to use a bloody stylus. And also that it uses normal Windows 7 without any good touch screen enhancement. I think this is just a portable HP Touchsmart: something intelligent but really bad executed. I think that Apple's iPad is the best tablet there can be in the market right now. HP has got a very good idea, an iPad-killing idea but it stays there: an idea. Let's wait what iPad 2 will bring so HP decides what things need to do better and really invest in that.

  • this thing looks sweet.. only if it had a better camra

  • The only thing this device doesnt have that I would consider a real necessity is 3G/4G connection. Personally its what would keep me from consider buying it. Maybe their next gen slate will have it. It is a slick looking device though.

  • @Skott62 You could just get a usb dongle for it.

  • @jeremyIfisher

Yeah, so how does that work? Use a USB dongle from some 3G/4G company that lets you connect to the Internet via their service? I'm not familiar with those kind of products and services. Having 3G/4G built into the tablet would make things much more simpler to use.

  • @Skott62 The dongle would work as a reciver so you can connect to the 3G/4G network. But given how much the the slate costs it seems abit stupid that it doesn't have it built in. That said it is worse that the iPad costs what it does and doesn't have a webcam, a mic. a usb or card reader.

  • @jeremyIfisher

About a week ago I was watching CNBC and one of their guests was saying to expect a lot more tablets to hit the market in 2011 and many of them will have 3G/4G built into them. As much as I would like one now I guess I'll wait and see what comes out. Thanks for the replies and info. :-)

  • It runs Windows 7. What good is that windows. HP just mimic the ipad. The ipad has tons of apps. HP is horrible in touch screen. Why do they need a mouse pointer if you can tap on something than swiping your finger to tap on something using a mouse. BUY THE iPAD. Steve Jobs is smarte THAN Steve Balmer. PERIOD

  • DOES ANYONE KNOW WERE I CAN BUY ONE OF THESE?

  • hp horrible in touch screens,

Never buy any HP without mouse

  • wow, so much for the ipad

  • I am worried that it will be laggy :(

  • @raredesign how do you know that x-ray was not a 20MB RAW file, not a downscaled jpeg like the iPad automatically does with pics.

  • what the iPad SHOULD have been, but isnt, and knowing apple, it will take them 2 more ipad generations to get the features this thing has, but by them, tablet PC's will be running 2 GHZ dual core processors and apple will have a 1.5 ghz single core

  • its a laptop... just without the keyboard. its like a very large windows phone or PDA. but how do you install windows 7 without a CD player? and does it have a forward facing camera?

  • can you reinstall the os with a clean install and dose it have a type of biso. can it all so boot from a usb device this will work handy i am a it pro at my bunisses and want to maybe incorport in the office

  • lagg @ 0:17 lol

  • Tablets should not be installed with Microsoft Windows. They already tried that back in the early 2000s and it failed because Windows was meant to be used with a mouse.

I don't know why some of you want to buy this tablet to do document editing. Why not just carry around a netbook? The HP slate is just a netbook without a keyboard yet priced at an outrageous $799.

  • @ronmexico27 windows 7 is native multitouch compatible, things change =] but yah the tablet pc is no new concept, apple is just good at hyping things up.
