  • 777rayheem, You are absolutely correct, Davy DMX always gets over looked. This is probably one of the best overall Hip Hop Cuts of the era, It had everything from the genre, outside of rap lyrics. I first recorded it onto a cassette by in 1986, I still have the cassette. This ranks right up there with Herbie Hancocks Rockit.

  • Aaah, i remember the days tryin my hand at scrathin' to this track using (n ruining) our ITT radiogram! love this tarck. Now where's my old lino n ghettoblaster?

  • You know he wrote Kurtis Blow's "The Breaks" and "If I Ruled The World"? (Think of how many MCs that inspired.) He was also a member of Orange Krush, that did all the music for Run DMC's first two albums. Think about that for a second.

  • Saw Davy in Birmingham on Monday night with PE, met Chuck and Flav after the show, Davy is a legend !!!

  • Maaan! i met Davy last sunday at a P.E. gig in Cardiff-UK, shook his hand. He was playing bass at the gig. yall know he wrote and produced both The Breaks by Kurtis Blow and Runs House by RUN DMC right? Legend!!

  • Pure style. Originality, creativity, no reference to b1tches and hoes, no threats to other record labels or creators, a smooth bassline, clapping hands--that was a requirement to hip hop in the 80's, chidren--the "fresh" scratch... this is straight B-Boy music right here, kids.

  • @reale325 this IS the vocal version

  • Classic...

  • 80s electro-funk was and still is on another planet of game ! in the 90s we had super-cool niggas hard-rapping over electro-beats (forget the 00s) -> now we need the chicas to put some high-pitched shrieking over these type of beats -> game will go into total lockdown !

  • @sanjuz WORD UP MAN !! NO Autotune

  • A Question: Is that rap beat, too

  • i love this fucking beats

    old school hip-hop rules

  • im DMX but my name aint dave, step to my title and ill crash your wave, theres only one DMX, fuck this trash

  • Why did Davy DMX leave Run DMC ? It's like that and Sucker MC's are Davy D's beats...He was replaced with a better DJ in Jam Master Jay

  • 2 gangsta fools, 205 normal people

  • AHHHH< I remember this.....9th grade year, we had just moved to Rome, NY. Griffiss AFB. This brings back good times of hanging out on the corner with a piece of cardboard spinning on my back head and whatever else. Hip-Hop was still sooo pure.

  • AWESOME CUT! Still FRESH!

    ;-)

  • Keep it movin' with Mr. Magic!

  • Music sometimes is wayyyy better without the bothersome emcee on a record. In this instance a rapper is non-existance and it';s a better song because of that fact. One of my favorite songs of it's time period.

  • Imagine yourselves listening to this song at night, walking in the N.Y streets at night with your Warriors movie style gang \m/

  • yo check it out!!! i'm just a kid close to y'all and hip hop got to portugal in da 90's long after this killers beats!!! and unfortunatly first things to come up in here was fat boys and mc hammer :D ah ah ah

  • Thank you vice city for showing me some real music i never knew!

  • Soul Alive on TV in NYC

  • 30,000th.

  • I dont know but when I heard this I was hooked. It was the bass and the scratchin' mixin' but it wasnt a breakdance song. Just plain groove and rhythm.

  • The REAL DMX!! classic Dopeness....

  • I don't care who you are, ya gotta admit... this makes you want to dance! :-D

  • a rap song without scratching is not worth a penny..

  • @jhanayoga Word! I've been saying the same thing for years!

  • @jhanayoga Your Comment is so stupid ! if you would know something about hip hop and rap u wouldnt say shit like that pal !

  • 1:41 sounds like 'confettis - sound of c'

  • Who was the person who gave this a thunbs down? He must have pushed the wrong botton.

  • @rexboogie it was people like 50 Cent being afraid of real HipHop who pushed thumbs down ;D

  • Dave is my HERO.. He was the BEST... Rocked The H3LL out of Drummers Beat.. and his favorite (I Think) was Rocking Appachie with Children. If You remember That U Knew Dave.. D.J. SCORPIO Said That The Music Machine Crew (M&M).

  • omg i cant believe i am listening to this. im about to jump out of my seat and dance on my desk. this is hip hop. i would carry the blue labeled record with me and if u didnt have it u had it then. we would tear up the dance floor with special steps 4 this song. ole skool rap reins supreme!!! i gotta send this to my girls!! they r gonne scream!!another hot track is called reckless by ice-t and the glove. check it out

  • Need more artists! crash cart of funk and everything else, just throw it all in bring it back alive. Don't be gettin me wrong I love my Pantera and stuff but good groovin is hard to to come by.

Miss this stuff and if I find myself still alive in 2025 I don't think I could say the same for the crap that we've been spoon fed the past 5 to 10 years. I mean to say the stuff we hear now is lame garbage maybe in 10 years from now the industry will get it's shi-t straight (sorry it's a habit). Peace

  • Nice! Parrish Smith sampled this for Das Efx's "Take it back".

  • Dat wat I'm talkin bout. YEAH Back in the Da Zy... :-)

  • I don't understand hiphop today.

  • 4eva

  • ah fond memories, I'm off to look up some Schoolly D tracks ..... Lookin at ma Gucci, it's about that time ....

  • Davy D...you are the best..rock that beat cuz it is so fresssshhhh!!

  • @theosaka69 .... I think you will find that it is either 'cut dis beat coz it is so fresh!' @1:17 or ' rockin dis beat wiv tha DMX' @ 2:48 ...

  • @FranticLes What was the point in that :L?

  • Yes dat wuz fresh.

  • OMG !!!!!! This brings back memories when me and my crew use to handle the 1's and 2's back in 85 ! All of you artist pay attention...this is what "REAL" Hip-Hop is !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Sick beat!

  • big classic ,

  • Yeah :)

  • This song is included in GTA Vice City: D

  • This is fun. I heard this sampled on Cut Chemist and DJ Shadow's Product Placement mix. They turned a song about cooking with gas into a fun electro dance party. This beat was featured prominently.

  • i forgot how GOOD this is....*stunned*

  • One of THE best Electro tracks - EVER. I love the DMX sound in this track. I used to PUMP OUT this tune of my Jamo D-360s (in my bedroom as a teen = 750watt Marantz Amp + Technics deck) Xx Thanks for posting. Lol ;-)

  • @mikegotteri

    Hell yeah! Marantz amps!

  • man, i like muito disso, se eu pudesse ouvir this all the days of minha vida, i gone ficar muito feliz, tchau bye!

  • brings back memories, still love it.

    Ashley Holland

  • This was a underground hit back in the day. I remember hearing it and was just like WOW. I taped when it came on the radio and use to listen to it prior to ecery football game my freshmen year.

  • love this beat

  • why dont hip sound like this anymore? what went wrong, it needs t go back to its roots

  • @Futura2500 Because it's corporate now for the most part; it's all about sales and ringtone downloads not about the art.

  • @Futura2500 corporations killed hip hop. This was when it was still relatively underground. This is so old I remember listening to this when breakdancing was more important to me than getting laid.

  • @Futura2500 the irony is that youre called futura lol

  • @Futura2500

Maybe too many modern digital toys and effects are being used these days instead of scratching some REAL WAX! A lot of tracks were also done with real instruments and machines like the old Rolands as well, either straight or mixed back, but its nothing like today.... Plus to mention when they used effects from the old effects machines which were either tubed or tape playback, like the Space Echos, they could achieve sounds that are next to impossible to replicate today.

  • @getapokeon its true i use digital to make beats but takin samples from analog sources like vynil gives you a sound you can't get without doin some digging

  • @Futura2500 Sorry hop cant, i guess we all can say. . . it just hipped out because of all these new school bastards. Fuck them

  • great track Ol´School rules !!

    5 * * * * *

  • HIP HOP LIVES. It lives in the heart, it comes with the style, the attitude, the freedom, the art. People just don't always rock it correctly.

    -BRMM.

  • when the corporations took over hip hop it went to shit. hoes pimps gangstas and all that bullshit hip hop died a long time ago

  • totally agree, bring back the love of Real Hip Hop!

  • @nick281972 ... agreed .. about the same time Ice-T released Bodycount if memory serves me right! ... ........... Now they got me rappin on a microphone, while Dave cuts the record down to the bone ....

  • @FranticLes This joint came out in Spring of 1984 everybody in all rap contest at this time wanted the flip side bcuz the drum beat was so sick.

  • the jam!!dave cut the record~!!!LOL.

  • Davy D IZZZ the best!!

  • This song was slept on by CBS when it came out in 1983; looks like it's being slept on even now. So sorry Davy DMX -- you deserve better than this.

  • Another old school magical bassline. They don't make these anymore :(

  • i am young and i no.
