I really enjoy the increased tempo. Sure, it reduces Cziffra's expressiveness, but I think it's worth it, as I prefer this recording to Sokolov's. The perfect performance would be one that combines both speed and touch, although likely there are few pianists who can execute it without spending excessive time to practice.
Youtube: from experienced pro or not, hang it up in public and expect all kinds of critiques. If you can't handle less than rave reviews or gushy approval, just disable comments. It seems a lot of uploaders only expect raves or gushy strokes. The majority of my comments are positive. Just did not think the tempo here was good and said so. It is not an argument. I have you to thank for thinking it was, initiated by commenting on my comment. Just delete my comments if you are so 'sensitive.'
@poordiogen I apologize, I left of the critical half - Sokolov could readily have played it as fast as this, but his musicality did not let his desire to deploy His also freakishly great technical velocity take the upper hand in making the same anti-musical decision which was Cziffra's. Otherwise, your witty quip is a sophomoric Blazing Flash of the Obvious. I wonder if you think the sport element of who can play the fastest has anything to do with musical depth or greatness.
@MuseDuCafe who are you to say what is musical and what is not? You can thank me for uploading this piece... but you rather tell me that it's bad... do the math on your own I' not getting to a fight because of a stupid reason. bye
Brilliant tempo! His commercial recordings of this piece are slower. Here the excitement of playing an encore for his enthusiastic audience is palpable.

Complete sacrifice of musicality or musical sense to display of finger velocity.
No music there, just circus pianism. Pity.
