Ladies and Gents, let it be known; that was about as perfect as you can get for a shot. The white background is perfect for concealing the inherent warping of frame interpolation.
People, With stuff like this you just need to have plain backgrounds for it to work and show good results (like this one here ) If you look at other stuff on youtube of optical flow its all horrible because they have complicated backgrounds, if you want your slow motion to look really good you must have; High shutter speed AND plain backgrounds. then you achieve really nice slow mo like this one.
Optical flow is a quality setting in the Retiming (speed) interface. Optical flow tracks individual pixels in each frame (based on color and structure) and creates new in-between frames that look like a film camera that is over cranked (Ie shot at 48fps and played back at 24fps). In regular slo-mo, each frame is repeated to create the effect which result in judder but may be preferable if you want a stop-motion effect. Avid has a similar tool called Fluid Motion.
cause pretty much it looks like the same thing, if you have an actual camera that has shutter and atleast 60fps. X is nothing to be proud about I think.

TheCarlosceppas 1 month ago
I have final cut pro & when i use optical flow, its ends up lookin wavy, like it has a shadow that follows my body, how do i get rid of that?
Joshneal85 1 month ago
@Joshneal85 that is because you shot your video with low shutter speed. Use shutter speed as high as possible.
sanderbesems 1 month ago
@sanderbesems O ok, where do i go to control that shutter speed?

@sk8kid1926 yes. It is in FCP X, and Motion 5. Apple made FCP X one product, you don't have to export to Motion anymore

People who say FCPX is iMovie pro... All I can just say is that FCPX ain't bad, just that they are noobs with the new simple interface.

BHFhq 8 months ago
@BHFhq just wait. optical flow is a memory hungry beast, its one of the hardest things you will ask FCPX to do. Just wait for the render to finish

What shutter speed?
tcleland104 8 months ago
It's included in FCPX... It's not a default setting tho.. you need to tell him from "Normal" (Default), "Blending" and "Optical flow"
