  • My Dimension 2400 is getting worse every day. :< Since the CD drive broke I've been unable to reinstall Windows on the fucker LOL

I guess I'll have to steal the drive from my Dimension 9150 for a while to reinstall it.

  • I'm trying to get my computer to run games better. Do you know if it's possible to upgrade the graphics card in one of these? I have the exact same one. Mine has "intergrated graphics", it's only got 64 mb of memory to it, I have a newer one (still lower end, but twice as much memory to it) I also just upgraded the RAM (I added 1 Gig) so games and internet surfing work better.

  • @thewoodsman45 Yea. I have the perfect one that can work with that computer. But it's about 70 bucks. Try looking up the Diamond Radeon HD 2400 Video Card - 256MB GDDR2, PCI, (Dual Link) DVI, VGA, HDTV.

  • @xxjr963xx Thanks!

  • NIGGER HEHEHEHEHE LOL!!!!

  • @xxjr963xx i was just jokin ; )

  • I had one of these,

    it sucked so bad.

I could only run Day of Defeat (NOT source) at 10 FPS max, at lowest settings.

    On a good day.

  • @MrMakeman Mine ran WoW at 30FPS at 1024x768 no problem.

  • @GBhockeyfan5 I said CD drive.

  • Ok i have this same computer but I put an nvidia graphics card with 125mb of memory and upped the RAM to 2gb. The stock parts that are still there are: stock hard drive and stock processor. what can i replace those 2 things with?

  • @Dillon1108 You can replace the processor with a Intel Pentium 4 but it has to be the exact one for it to work. As for the harddrive, you can replace it with any IDE Harddrive. tigerdirect(.)com has cheap harddrives.

  • ow do u upgrade dis computer??? plz tell!!!for gaming fps games

  • @omgitssamson101 Get a graphics card and upgrade it to 2 GB of ram and to a 7200 RPM harddrive. You can get all of that at tigerdirect . (com)

  • you should up date that celeron to a pentium 4 and get a graphics card the do all the other upgrades last

  • @mikeandwindows I upgraded to a whole new computer. I need to put that in the info.

  • ok i got the same computer and i just took it apart cleaned it and put it back together but now when i turn it on nothin happens on the screen and the power LED on the front stays orange. anyone know whats wrong? im not very technical so i have no idea if i wired it wrong or something?

  • @Huwzo Ca n you read the colors off on the back. It should say ABCD and it should light up green or amber(Orange).

  • @xxjr963xx on the back of what?

  • @Huwzo On the back of the tower where the ports are located. You know, the monitor port (VGA), Keyboard and mouse( PS2 Ports). And the rest.

  • @xxjr963xx its not lit at all:(

  • @xxjr963xx wait now the letter D is lit up green.

  • @Huwzo Put pressure on all the connections and unplug the power and plug it back in and try it. If not, you have a hardware failure.

  • @Huwzo there something wrong with ur motherboard. It happened to me too.

  • I have the same exact computer the things i upgraded were the ram to 1.25 gigs the video card to a nVidia 8400 GS PCI and the hard drive to a 320 gigs IDE ,but i dont have enough money to upgrade the CPU.

  • i just got one and have been researing how to make it better you can put the motherboard from a dell optiplex in the 2400 some optiplexes have duo core processors and start off with 1gb ram instad of 256 and you can get another harddrive for 100 dollors that holds more than the computer had when it came out

  • I'm going to get a new processor for the computer. I thinking about a Pentium 4 IV P4 3.06 Ghz 512k/533 Northwood 478 CPU. Any suggestions?

  • Go on ebay I guess.

  • Eh, yh. I checked one out. I can get a used one for 30. I hate the fact that the motherboard has only psi slots. PSi express cards are more powerful and less expensive.

  • Not bad. I still use mine for my studies and at times games. If you want max out its gaming potential, get the 9400gt evga. Its best pci graphic card out there. Also reminder, you probably need to get a new psu if your planning to upgrade your pc. The pc has only 200 or 250Watt out of the box and most graphic cards require at least 300. I suggest a 400-500 from a local computer store. I got mine for 30 and it runs fine.

  • thing is ifi get this card will it fit i got ddr1 ram will this work i got a dimond 9200 256 video card right now but it dosent support shader 2.0 which u need for alot of games i can run halo 1 gta saunandreas and old games but i want to run newer games or atleast run online games smother i got a 80gb harddrive which is almost full i use utorrents alot lol any tips how i can make this puppy a gaming pc i got 2 gb of ram but its ddr1 any way i can jsut change mother board and upgrade or do ineed

  • i have a dell dell dimension 2400 with only 40gb, how do i upgrade to get more GB i am running out of room

  • Go get a external harddrive. Or if you know about computers, get a internal harddrive.

  • any way to add a better videocard? i got a radeon 9200 from my ather pc but it doesnt fit it o_O

  • It's alot of ways. Google Visiontek Radeon HD 2400. The regular PCI. Not Express.

  • @xxjr963xx thanks

  • @xxjr963xx well... are there any others? because the HD2400 is like i cant order it from sites from my country and i live i a verry small country, can you name some videocard above 256MB that can fit in dell dimension 2400

  • Just go to Tigerdirect and look for PCI cards. There are alot of ones on there,

  • @xxjr963xx yea but i dont have creditcards and stuff and its a US site i think with dollars

  • Go to a electronics store and ask for a PCI video card.

  • i took apart the same pc and took out the fans and mounted them in the back of my tv stnd to cool my playstation

  • Lol1 :P Wow.

  • BIGG ups dude.. Keep doing what your doing.. Your pretty good at it and seem like you know your hardwear... Great career to choose if you like computers.

  • how did u open it?

  • if a 6 year old kid can do it anyone can do it

  • I'm not 6. I'm 13.

  • Actually, Eminem is right. Let's go down the list.

    Motherboard $49.99

    Case $39.99

    Intel Core 2 Quad $149.99

    4 GB of Ram 71.96

    320 GB Harddrive $44.97

Video Chip is powerful on the motherboard and the sound chip. Everything is provided with motherboard.

    = 356.90

    With other stuff, around $500

    Everything from tigerdirect.

  • Your such a stupid little bitch!

  • Can you stop commenting on my video. If you don't like it, close the window. You must like something since you keep coming back to comment.

  • lol go to tigerdirect u noob u gotta no wat parts to buy and from where.not everwhere its pricy stuff selling u nub. go to hell and ur just jealous because u cant be good lol go suck a dick like u normaly do :)

  • not really. u can get a kick ass gaming rig with quad core for $400 dollars if u already have some stuff from ur old pc

  • Cool video , thanks 4 sharing it. I have a 2400 and one day i wasnt doing anything i dug out an old 30 gig h/drive i had and made a bracket out of a part in an old case and installed it in my PC. Some day i want 2 get a bigger h/drive but 4 now the 70 and 30 are just fine. What i would really like to have is a multi card reader with the usb ports and headphone plug. I have found 1 but i will have to mod my case to make room for it. I have 2 disc drives now and no space left.for it to go.

  • I'm just gonna get a externel card reader. When I installed the new harddrive, It was a bitch to get out. I kinda broke the enclosure so I had to mod the bracket for the harddrive. It sucks that you can only put a floppy drive in the 2.5" slot without modding.

  • If i find one that will go int the floopy drive slot without modding i'll let you know and if i do have to mod mine i'll make a video or make some pics to share with ya and maybe you can improve on my idea for yours or maybe someone else that runs into this problem with the 2400. But yes the externel would be the best in the long run, like if i mod my case for a card reader and then the reader take s a dump and here i am left with a hole in the front of my PC or a dead reader. Take care

  • Ok. Thanks for the comment!

  • Well i got a cardReader, I had to mod the front panel on my tower to make it fit. i used the floppy drive bay and made some brackets out of an old tower by cutting a section out that had slots so i could adjust the reader and have it as close to flush with the front of my tower as i could. To cut out the front panel i used a high speed dremal type tool and a box cutter , and the connection cable was a trick aswell, had to cut off the plug and add a usb plug run out the back and into a usb port.

  • Do you have a Celeron? If you do, than you may have a newer model than mine. I got mine 3 months after it first came out.

  • how come ur guys is only 2.66 ghz? Mine is 2.88 o.o, but yeah this is a pretty good comp to start out with. But if you want to some simple games youo need to buy more ram and a decent graphics card.

Good graphics card = radeon 4650

    it's cheap and good fps

  • This computer's not bad. My parents gave it to me for free and I dont really use it, but when I look at it i know that people are crazily spending like $5,000 on a new computer, while I could just spend $300 or so upgrading that to my wanting.

  • Your comment is verryyy true.

  • What is the spec?

  • I don't know the specs of yours. There are different models.

  • Hey due thank God I need to know why Dimension 2400 cant play HD videos well, I have an Hd Monitor, but everytime I play a video in HD, For example your video is HD it freezes and you still hear the sounnd, so do you know if itis possible for 2400 to play HD videos, or does it have something to dowith the memory, ram, ghz?

  • I need to know the specs of your computer before I can answer your question.

  • ur probably using the motherboard grafic chip... for most of the 2400 series its only 64mb of video ram which is not nearly eunogh to play hd video. look on tigerdirect . c o m for pci video cards

  • my dell dimension 2400 specs: nvidia geforce 6200 256mb 2gb ram 120gb 7200rpm hard drive intel pentium 4 2.80ghz dvdrw drive specs when bought: 40gb hard drive 512mb ram cdrw drive intel onboard graphics
  • Is your CPU overclocked? Mines only 2.66GHz, I like your upgrades, wish I'd added 2Gb memory rather than 1 lol.

  • No, but I plan on buying a P4 instead of overclocking. BTW, how did you overclock your CPU?

  • I've been wondering how to do it for some time, there's nothing in the BIOS, but have heard of people using certain software to do it. If I find anything else I will let you know. Only thing that could go wrong is temperature, my CPU is supposedly quite hot at standard.

  • Ok.

  • I need a new hd, where did you find 2GB RAM and 120GB Hard Drive

  • Tigerdirect.

  • Thank You. I found everything I need plus more :)

  • i have the p-4 2.8 ghz version of this

  • I was thinking of getting a P-4 thats works for it.

  • if im not mistaken it has to be a northwood chip to work on this mobo, mine came with the p-4 so idk

  • i have the same kind, but im using my laptop currently lol

  • nice video!

  • Thanks!!!
