  • It was great seeing you play with your class John! What a wonderful way for them to practice English. They all sounded so good!

  • @fourteentwelve Thanks, Michelle! I was glad I could introduce this great "oldie" to them!

  • John, I know I have already commented on this but, please tell your students that although I would give their English pronounciation 100% - if it was a music lesson - I would also give them 100%. They sound absolutely fantastic!! Really beautiful.

I hope that your grades on this video alone will give them top marks!! (Or very near that)

Best wishes to all of them (and you)

  • @theloudhalo Thanks, Helen! We really appreciate it! : )

  • only beautiful female students~ :-) I'm sure you make the class in an interesting way.

  • @TessOh1 It's a sweet class and I enjoyed teaching them!

  • Very sweet!

  • @craigbrandau Thanks, Craig!

  • These kids are so lucky! And talented!

  • @JethroWilbury Thanks, Jesse! When I have a nice class like this, I feel like I'm the lucky one!

  • Great performance! Thanks for sharing this.

  • @phonoholic Thanks, phonoholic!

  • Wow! That was powerful! I mean... a classroom of ladies singing in to you, Tonight you're mine completely. But really, that was a very good video. It's nice seeing more of you playing the uke as oppose to just your hands and face.

  • @idrnoel Thanks, Dylan! I don't have a good mic, so I usually like to sing as close to the camera mic as possible. I need to get some kind of mic so that I don't have to sit so close to the camera all the time! : )

  • a big hit John!!! This will get tons of views...just watch!

  • @djs61909 Thanks, David! And I hope Carole King watches this. She might get a kick out of seeing young Japanese girls singing her song!

  • The girls also have great pronunciation. No rolling Rs on tomorrow.

  • @AlohaRonnie Thanks! No flied lice in this class!

  • This is one of my favorite videos from you. These ladies did a great job singing. I was hoping one them would have got crazy and improvised a litte skat or lalala or something.

  • @FEDinSEA Thank you! If we had more time, I would have at liked to at least practice some parts in harmony! : )

  • Truly global appeal...nice job!!!

  • @wendelld808 Mahalo, Wendell!

  • One of my favorite Carole King songs! Your students look like some of mine -- but it looks much colder there, of course. I'm sure singing is a nice warm-up lesson on a winter's day. Do you play or sing songs to them for listening activities, too?

  • @jodyy121 Hi, Jody! I actually don't take my ukulele to class too often, but I think it's a good idea to incorporate music and song in the classroom. I think I should use my ukulele more often in class!

  • Hi John,

    Very nice change of pace.

Thanks for a little piece of your Teaching World !

The young ladies are great ( as are you ) :)

    LA Guy

  • John, I have been away for a couple of days and here you are when I arrive back. It gives me so much pleasure to see you in your professional role teaching your students. Music certainly crosses all boundaries. Thankyou for showing this to all of us, your friends on YT.

  • @theloudhalo Thanks, Helen! What you say about music is definitely true!

  • That was really interesting. Just think of the world of opportunity you've opened over the years for all those people...teaching them another language. Very cool.

  • @theBradlands Thanks, Brad! Learning a language is like building a bridge!

  • Beautiful!

  • @EarthsAngels Thanks, Diane!

  • Great setting and feel to this John..Great job in pulling this off...Were they willing participants or did teacher have to offer an incentive, like no homework tonight :)

    Chris

  • @freackykit Thanks, Chris! I've been wanting to make a video with students for the longest time, and I had the feeling this was the class to do it with. They are very nice, friendly students and there was a good atmosphere in the class. I think they were mostly willing to try, and I promised not to upload the video if it didn't turn out good. Plus, I think it's hard to resist when a ukulele is involved! : )

  • Very nice music !!

    sikamo minna bijin desune ..

  • @fajpc Thanks, Fajri! And I'm sure my students thank you, too! : )

  • Hallo John, so even school can be fun... the teacher plays his cool uke to a wonderful love song and the lyrics are printed on Hello Kittie sheets =^..^=

I really enjoyed this video. I did not know you are a teacher.

    Nice greetings from Anette

  • @TanteA Thanks, Anette! I think I don't always succeed, but I think learning a foreign language should be enjoyable, so that's one of my goals as a teacher.

  • They looked as if they were having a lot of fun with this. I sure did.

  • @ukedaman Thanks, Michael! All I know is that I was really happy making this video!

  • @lagaringer Thanks, Laura! That would be a fun elective class!

  • Lovely! but I have to admit to giggling at the little girl art on the words of such a sensual song. They did a great job though.

  • @thizizliz Thanks, Liz! I thought the students would get a kick out of seeing Kitty with a uke!

  • @paxukulele LOL - I'm sure they did; young women seem to really like hello Kitty and the uke just made it special. They really did a lovely job - How nice for them to learn English with music! :)
