  • ORGINAL IS 1000000000000000000000000 TIMES BETTER!!

  • how comical it feels; so into it i was 4:03 then seeing her face at 4:10

    wow lol.

  • I love Robyn and all, but nobody can sing Hyperballad like Bjork does. I’m pretty sure I couldn’t take anyone seriously singing this song. Bjork covers are always weird, her songs are so unique that you really can only imagine her singing them.

Now, that doesn’t mean that Robyn didn’t do a bang up job! Bjork, who is sitting and watching the whole thing didn’t really blink an eye. Pissed or touched?

  • PLEASE release it on iTunes!

  • скука и голос тухлый

  • скука

  • i'd have the same face that Bjork listening this song..so...is not a bad version..but not so good like Bjork singing this beautifull song

  • weird and...wonderful.

  • Robyn. This girl is just TOO MUCH. To even dare to do a cover on Björk,(And get away with it) whichch must be almost impossible. Plus all the other innovative music she is doing

  • wow, wow, wow, I fucking love Robyn.

  • Bjork is a true artist! She don't need to clap and scream, i know she loved it, Robyn did an awsome job, and she did it her way, not tryin' to copy Bjork! You can see it in her eyes that she was taken. This is art!!

  • this is one of the best covers i have ever heard in my entire life

  • the performance is wonderful. the only things that bothers me is robyn's sincerity. But I'm sure she was really nervous performing in front of Bjork

also, about "safe again" vs "safe up here". the confusion was definitely because bjork sings the part so cryptically. she shouldnt be held responsible just because she performed her own take of the song and didn't meticulously study the song before she performed it. I think Bjork always realized this and was never bothered by it

  • @halfpommy definitely not about a friend's suicide. its about women and their trouble with long term relationships

  • it's not that bad i guess. Just a lot different than the original but that's a good thing!

  • Bah...c'ha provato

  • Bjork....... we are sorry that some people out there feel it necessary to butcher Great works of art. This is total shit. I feel so bad for bjork, she looks as though someone just told her that her mom died. wtf was this chick thinkin.....?

  • what a hack job. love you Bjrok!

  • i thought it was beautiful.

  • I don't think a lot of the people commenting know what the fuck a cover is... just because it's a cover of a song doesn't mean it has to be sang the same as the original artist. Those are shitty covers by untalented people with no style of their own so they have to copy the entire style.

Great artists make the song their own and do it in their own way.

Plus, covers do nothing to the original. So if you don't like them, then don't listen to them.

  • @elvickRULES couldn't agree more

  • but bjork is always open to other people's artistic interpretations. I'm sure a big part of her enjoyed the performance. after all, when the song is sung, it's not really hers... it's robyn's. that's how I see music. it there for you to relate. to be open to that, I think bjork SO IS.

  • to be safe "up here" with you, please!

  • Relationships breaking? Suicide? I've always thought that Hyperballad was simply a fantastic (for lack of greater praise) love song! 'I go through all this before you wake up, so I can be happier to be safe again with you'! Looks a lot like Bjork-talk applied to love songs to me!

  • I highly doubt Bjork disliked this performance. Even in the unlikely even she didn't like Robyn's version, she had to have liked her effort and the fact she was being honoured by her. Much more likely is she was deeply moved by a very good cover of her greatest song, and struggled to contain her tears. That's how I interpret her expression, and the facts afterwards indicate she loved it - she emotionally thanked Robyn afterwards.

  • i rather liked it, actually. no one can beat bjork, but she did a good job.

  • I thought it was "safe up here with you", not "safe again with you".

  • @ThePantryMaster

    It is, she's an idiot

  • hyperballed was NOT about one of her friends committing suicide. I've read all about the song from her website.

  • @tydelwave hahaha who said it was about that x)? way to misunderstand.. ive always thought hyperballad was so simple and more beuatiful because of it

  • robyn did a great performance and björk looks so happy afterwards!! people who say that she is horrible are close-minded, it surprises me that björk fans can be so rude and pretentious

björk would never say something like that

  • I want to know what bjork thinks.

Personally, I thought it was far weak. But then again- everyone is in comparison to bjork.

  • A song is interpreted differently by every person who listens to it. I love hearing artists share music so I can see it in a new way. Robyn sang what she felt and it was beautiful.

  • people have something negative about everything.Every video, gets atleast 1 thumb down over time...This is a great cover...those 'bashers' dream of singing it this good!

  • music is open to interpretation and different styles. :)

  • This gives me chills for the main fact that I've never heard any other Artist cover Bjork and to top it off with her watching. Awesome!!!

  • the "safe again with you" really bugs me. i'm sorry but how do you get the lyrics wrong? otherwise...it was a tribute.

  • @stargza Robyn sometimes does this to get another kind of rythm in the music. And I think even others do to. It is not a mistake. If you study Robyn carefully on the video you can se and hear she is very sensitive to rythm.

  • i fucking see in bjorks face that she is not human she is genious omg i am crying lmao , i love her so much and she really loves music and art.

  • She has a universal voice

  • shes fucking whispering!! what a lameee way to do this... she took all the feeling away from this song... and found it "easier" to just whisper than actually do the screaming it requiers.... bjork seems pissed. And I personally think it was good, but the whispering thing totally bothers me a lot!! I bet Bjork felt the same way.

  • @alxkleyman I totally agree minus one thing, Robyn's version is crap, the whispering, her voice, her blandness everything! I've seen so many amateurs on youtube do a better cover from their livingroom than this blond turt. There I said it haha. ;)

  • there is no words to describe the amazingness of this

  • horrible

  • Bjork did not look happy, the arrangement was good thought

  • I have always had an irrational hate for Robyn but this is great, and I commend her for doing this cover such justice, as well as in front of the almighty Bjork herself. She has some fucking balls.

  • Great :)

  • i don't think this is robyn's best cover - not to mention it's impossible to cover a song like Hyperballad and have it sound just as great as the original - but she gave it a great effort, and that's what matters.

  • What a disaster ! The arrangements are cheap Eurodance and there's no feeling in the interpretation. I have nothing against Robyn but some masterpieces shouldn't be covered. It undermines you and doesn't serve it...

  • im sorry but this girl suck like shit bjork is the only one

  • @pinoycliff

Such profanity from a "pinoy"! I think the only thing that "sucks like shit" (get your grammar right) is the video of you getting your lame ass tattoo! Until you can sing better than Robyn, I will shut up...but until then, STFU!

  • @3121mmadude hahaha aww how cute correcting people how about u go and get a life and stop correcting me u dumb piece of shit u bitch u probably work at burger king so once u get a real job like a supervisor like me and have a degree come an talk bullshit and still this girl sucked ass and bjork is the best

  • So amazing <3

  • eh, the way she's singing and moving, I'm picturing Jerri from strangers with candy..

  • 5:08 "Oh i'm gonna kill this bitch for sure" Her face xD

  • BRILLIANT COVER!!

(yes, I prefer the original, but still I love Robyn!!!)

  • she butchered this song

  • Oh my... poor bjork. I know its meant to be flattery but I dont know what to say. Not often lost for words but... This was terrible in so many ways.

  • What? IT IS A TERRORIST ACT AGAINST BJÖRK

Robyn must die or buy CHARISMA

  • @snarlope I knoW !! in my country idiots made a tribute to Björk! THAT CAN'T BE POSSIBLE! NO ONE CAN SING HER SONGS NEVER!

  • This sounds like from another universe.. touching the every piece of my soul.. thank you robyn!

  • I say KUDOS to Robyn for having the balls to cover Bjork in anyway, much less having the set to cover Bjork in front of Bjork!!

  • That's the mystery of Bjork's songs... nobody else can do them. Not even Robyn, who I love. This just does nothing for me.

  • Hyperballad is one of my favorite songs by Bjork and i love Robyn as an artist too, so this meeting, this cover is one special one for me...Robyn did an amazing job and we have to applaud her for this...it takes lots of nerves to sing in front of the original singer of the song...Robyn, U ROCK!

  • Where can I find this MP3???

  • It is different than Bjorks I think this is soooo beautiful!!! Well done Robyn...who can sing like that it is not an easy job. And by the way Bjork seems to enjoy it though. LOVE it!!! Can listen to this over and over again...

  • I love this cover so much, and I don't understand why so many people are speaking badly of it. And Bjork was clearly moved...if you can't see that then you know nothing about body language. I love listening to this cover every morning. Robyn did an amazing job. If you have nothing nice to say then say nothing at all.

  • I do not see how people can't like this. What WOULD be a good cover? In a great cover, the artist brings their own style to the song, kind of gives it a new aesthetic, but still ends up with a magnificent results. Check, check, and check if you ask me: Robyn nails this.

  • Never.try.try.cover.björk. Brought nothing new to the song, just really weak.

  • Robyn... popular garbage? Haha, I love garbage opinions.

  • By the way is clearly seen that Robyn is trying hard to follow Bjork's rythm style in lower tones but she is horrible. If they where going to make a tribute to Bjork, they needed talented artists, not popular garbage. This are things that I asume, Bjork with her knoledge and as a experience musician knows better than all of us.

  • @ psycobetabuckdown I'm not been dishonest I was hypothetical. This cover is a mess and I had seen a lot of Bjork's covers in YouTube.

From my perspective, as a music lover, we can get 100 people educated in music to sing any Robyn's songs, but Bjork ones, just the talented ones.

  • some people are just so close-minded.

  • Damn this chick sucks so bad. She ruined the song.

  • okay now i hate robyn.

  • I love Robyn but this song for doesnt fit her voice. It was an ok performance. Oh wells back to listening to Body Talk pt. 2.

  • warm and fuzzy... yet painful

  • I want that dress.

  • This girl sucks singing, Bjork knows it, that's why she has that face. I'll be just like Bjork, how can that bitch ruin such a good song, it's sad that people think she sings nice, when she can't rice up here voice and not even her low voice is good to admire. She sucks badly!!! I can sing better than her.

  • @Melody0fMe I'm not gonna get into an argument about Robyn's voice, but you're being dishonest if you really think that's why Bjork put on that face.

  • Plain.

  • FAIL. stick to konnichiwa, bitches.

  • I think Robyn is one of the most underrated stars i´ve ever seen.. she´s sooo amazing.... 5 stars 4 Robyn

  • is it just me or bjork looks kind of sad?

  • To the people that think Bjork didn't like this performance, this would have been like someone reading her personal diary to her, she has never been in a situation like this before, infact, she hardly listens to her own music, apart from when she performs it. According to her drummer, Bjork was teary, which you can see, and thanked Robyn afterwards saying that it was almost too emotional to watch. Hyperballad was about one of her best friends commiting suicide, do the math.

  • @halfpommy No, it wasn't about her friend committing suicide, where did you get your facts from.

It's about being in love, but after a while it gets boring, so you go out and show your destructive side to show yourself how ungrateful you are being. Then you go back home to your partner and wrap up in their arms and feel grateful again.

Get your facts right before throwing around stuff like that.

  • @halfpommy

People in here are so mean! I think it takes a lot of courage and talent to do this. I am a fan of both so this is a win-win situation for me.

  • @halfpommy

No it wasnt about one of her friends commiting suicide-I dont know where you got that from? The song is about getting bored in long term relationships...doing something secretive and dangerous:

-Bjrk describing her songwriting technique in Q Magazine October 2007: "I feel that words can have a mysticism or a hidden meaning. On Hyperballad, the idea that I'm throwing car parts from a cliff is about getting out my frustrations."-

    ............

  • @halfpommy

-Bjrk says: "Hyper-Ballad is about being in a relationship and 3 years on, you're not high anymore, so you wake up early in the morning and you sneak outside and you do something horrible and destructive, break whatever you can find, watch a horrible film, read a bit of William Burroughs, something really gross and come home and be like 'Hi honey, how are you?'" -

Unless you have evidence further to this I think it's important to re-read the lyrics and understand what it's about!

  • @halfpommy

Have you listened to Charlene? This song is about her friend who got murdered, she was an ex-model and major clubber! Maybe that's where you got it from.

  • @halfpommy

I thought this was a great performance, but thanks for this information...

I had no idea it was about her friends suicide... What a beautiful way to cope with something so terrible and remember them... By the way, how did you find that out?

  • @halfpommy

I love your comment, but I thought Hyperballad was about avoiding stagnation and avoiding feeling trapped by a long term relationship... (see wiki article on hyperballad) is there a deeper meaning that most people aren't aware of?

  • @mafurock33 Your first problem is that you belive information from a user based information page. I can go on there and stay the song is about Bjork blowing her money on cocaine.

  • @josephgarza81

Yeah that's true, but that same logic would also disqualify youtube comments as a valid/reliable source of information.

I have a book (written by Mark Pyltik) that quotes bjork as explaining basically what it says on wiki, but that doesn't mean that there aren't more (and possibly private) levels of meaning to the song. If it is (also) about a suicide, I imagine that bjork would not just be blabbing about that in interviews, out of respect for that person...

  • @halfpommy im not sure of your source, but i am fan of 12 years, i dont think hyperballad is about her friends or anyone's suicide. it's about relationships wearing out.

  • @halfpommy Bullshit, Hyperballad wasn't about her friend committing suicide. You just said that to get more thumbs up's for your comment.

  • @halfpommy Its not about one her firends commiting suicide, woooow. But i agree wtih rest.

  • @halfpommy That makes sense! Except that the song isn't dedicated to a dead friend (according to wikipedia) ^^

  • fuck she has balls to do this! I was afraid that if she fucked it up Bjork might just stab her or something

  • I'm love this cover, I still like Muchuu's cover better but this was an excellent performance. I wonder if Bjork liked it? I couldn't really tell by her expression.

  • Bjork looks underwhelmed.

  • This is AWSOME!!! I'm a big Robyn & Björk fan... so it was a very delicious combination for me! Some people said that Björk was upset whit the arrangements, but I think she looks very happy & proud whit Robyn... she performs beautifully this song... LOVE IT!!!

  • she is so cool. she is a pro.

keep on doing what you do

    RESPECT

  • @electrobabe1 Jag instämmer i electrobabe 1:s slutsatser om Vindrags konstiga och ogrundade tyckande

  • Her voice sounds so main stream pop unlike Bjork.

  • @Stoogefan14 Not really, she's actually not that mainstream, she's still fairly unknown mainstream. Sure she may not be as underground as Bjork (who I also like) but that doesn't make her any less awesome.

  • Kolla svtplay och sök på Robyn, hon har nyligen varit med i lilla aktuellt :)

  • Tells alot about how incredible Björk's voice is when even Robyn struggles on some notes here. Great cover anyway.

  • You know it amazes me always with not just artists and what not , there is always always someone that will say bad things about it . We have all lost something along the way , we call evolution . Come on people we are all BEAUTIFUL we are all angels we just have to remember , everyone is unique and yet we are all one. Try one positive remark everyday and you will see your hole world change , peace to all

  • To perform a cover of a song, by an artist you idolise, listening to you perform it... just in front of you, well..., that takes guts of the highest order. Phenomenal.

00:09 - Notice the quick flash of the eye at the keyboard player. Is that Bjork's super highly developed musical ear recognising the very beginnings of Hyperballad's opening?! o_O

  • Very lovely! Cover Bjork is a tight-rope walk, to be sure, but this keeps the spirit of the song firmly at its core..

  • Really pathetic. She has no voice or power. She sounds like a minnie mouse on helium making a joke rendition. C'mon! Awful

  • I love Robyn's style and her music, but she simply doesn't have the power to pull this off... Seems like the smallest movement gets her out of breath and slightly off key. The fact that any Björk song is a whopper to cover doesn't really help. So kudos for trying, but this one seems clearly above her station...

  • im a bjork fan and not a robyn fan, but she should have sang it in her own voice and not tried so hard to sound like bjork..... and whats up with robyn's teeth....?

  • This was terrible. I have a feeling that a lot of people who like this version like it because of the music or the lyrics, both of which have nothing to do with Robyn and everything to do with Bjork. Robyn's voice sounded forced and way to weak for such a powerful song. I think it was kind of insulting for the singer to take such an amazing song by such an amazing artist and make it sound so bland and unoriginal.

  • you're right @akrnz... didnt like it

  • in my opinion.... she just ruined my favorite song ...

  • No one could ever come close to singing like Bjork but claps to Robyn for trying and how intimidating it must have been to have Bjork herself watching!

  • Awful.

  • She did Bjork and this song proud!

  • @onllwyn good job! I agree, I think she did Bjork proud!

Normally I would question a cover that was so close to the original, but I think what she did with the song was wonderful. A great tribute!

  • bjork doesn't look too happy. I bet she feels old. This cover is good, but she doesn't really add anything to it, so then why bother? Someone like Nina Simone should have done it.

  • I sense a mother-daughter connection between those two!

  • Great cover!!

  • love it !

  • The fact that Bjork wont be here forever makes me very sad :(

  • @drkaxel123456 what about the fact that you won't be here either?

  • You can tell she nailed it when you see Bjorks runny mascara @ 5:08

  • For real? This was horrible, her twichy movements, her attempt at miming the coyness of the song was just pitiful. Robyn, do you know what it takes? I hear the only reason why they have Robyn wasn't because she's Swedish, it's because Mandy Moore couldn't figure out the words to "Ancestors" and a schedule conflict kept Samantha Mumba from doing a lighthearted rendition of "Where is the Line?".

  • @GetawayJeep For real, you deserve a giant smack right in your face. Please shut your ugly mouth.

  • @inspireradavstatyer Wow, way to stay subjective. You're going to hit someone over a 90's pop star. Seriously. Find some god in your life or alcohol or something. =)

  • @GetawayJeep Ha ha hilarious!!

  • This is beautiful. Has anyone considered that maybe Robyn singing "Safe again" is a stylistic choice on her part as a cover, or better yet, tribute? Obviously you can't cover Bjork so she decided to make the song her own? Yay? Nay?

    Either way I love it.

  • im really loving the instrumentals behind her voice!

  • I love Robyn, but she butchered the song. =(

  • Why do so many people dislike this version? I think it's beautiful. And it's a little obvious Bjork is tearing up at the end by the way. Unless that's what people think getting angry looks like? It's Bjork people. If anything, Robyn should have brought a camera on stage and took a photo of Bjork. THEN we would have seen the icelandic queen rip her a new one.

  • The combination of Bjork's lyrical style and Robyn's vocal style honestly is purely wonderful. I'll never get tired of this.

Oh, and at the end Bjork's smile so adorable. <3333

  • Comment removed

  • wow ...... so beautiful

  • Wow, she got the lyrics wrong!!!

  • Robyn ruined the song... Her voice is too weak comparing to Bjork's powerful and unique interpretation. During the song Bjork seems to be horrified about what she's hearing... Poor woman....

  • @GtoTheEOG Um, no, she doesn't look horrified at all.

  • This is a special moment. Robyn does a brilliant cover of this classic Bjork song, and Bjork, sitting in the crowd, looks so humbled and proud.

  • terribly weak voice

  • Robyn and Björk are two favourite artists of mine. I would love for them to collaborate more in the future.

  • Underbart jag älskar din känsla i dina framträdanden Robyn du berör!

  • what the fuck she even looks like bjork

  • Bjork is thinking... "gee, now I feel kinda old... way better than this kid at her age, though"

  • Please... record this cover for Body Talk Pt.3! :D I'm a huge Björk fan and I must say that this is the most amazing cover I've ever heard of a Björk song. Kudos to you Robyn. Lots of love.

  • @sindriii Agreed, it's such a hard song to cover too! I've heard so many that just miss the mark. I think Robyn's got it, and even brought it abit more up to date with some new sounds.

  • @sindriii I wish she would include her covers on a CD somewhere, this one, her 'Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart', her and Kelis singing 'Push It' and 'Buffalo Stance', ect. too much awesome Robyn unreleased covers!!!!!

  • I think Robyn did great! She is deff not Bjork and Bjork is deff not her, so of course you're gunna get a different outcome, but as a BIG ROBYN fan this is awesome. I like Bjork's version, but Robyn got me hooked on it 1st. :D

  • T___________T

  • This is the version Robyn was doing.. its a completely different version than from the album/single/concert versions.. Bjork re-recorded the vocals for this version called Girl's Blouse..

What Robyn did.. is start with the very slow "Girl's Blouse" version.. and ended with "Subtle Abuse" version which has a faster beat towards the end !

  • As for me.. I say don't ever cover a bjork song.. trust me.. i've tried to do it so many times.. its like taking someone's thumbprint and trying to make into your own knowing that no matter what it would look awkward !

But do take bits and pieces and mix it with your own.. and magic.. magic.. magic

  • Knowing bjork.. if you want to honour her.. take one of her song and turn it into something completely yours.. with your own personality.. She'd really appreciate that.. Because you have developed rather than repeat !

  • I ♥ Robyn but she simply does not have the pipes and breath for this song.. She's off key.. and her wording is also Off.. but its mediocre.. It is very very difficult to cover a bjork song.. no one can do it.. unless they change most of the song to make it easy on the average singer to sing it.. Bjork's singing is irregular.. i've never heard anyone able to pull it off !

Also.. Bjork does not seem to be happy with this at allllllllllllllll heheheh :)

  • She's not doing the original version.. She's doing a version called Hyperballad (Subtle Abuse Mix) which is more easy going.. quartet.. string and voice only.. well supposedly..

  • wow amazing to have bjork chillin right there and she looked happy..cuz we all know bjork dont take shit from no one...and I <3 Robyn...

  • Bjork doesn't look impressed. Quite nice but I think I prefer Bjork's version.

  • One word, three letters. W O W . . .

  • Lovely cover and lovely to see Björk there, enjoying Robyn's performance. :)

  • It´s so patetic to insult Robyn. Why don´t you sing this song yourself? Untill you do let us enjoy this amazing cover.

  • HOLY HOLY SKIT SKIT

  • she looks like david bowie, love it
