Yes!!!!! Yes!!!!! 2 thumbs up for a come 1 come all reunion. All members of LRB from all years on stage together. A LRB fan fantasy!!!! Come on guys! Work it out for us, film it, and sell it! PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would love to just one LRB reuion with all them from each era; like Kansas did for there "Know Place like Home" Concert that would be awesome even if each had maybe one or two songs they performed in
They had a genuine comraderie,Farnham had a huge vocal range, the original guitarist was classically trained and superb, the vocal harmonization was impeccable. On the hits anyway, they were a fantastic outfit.
FreeTheRocks, thanks so much for posting all the LRB videos here. I've loved them forever, and was fortunate enough to see the early 80s HBO concert. This just brings it all back. This is an awesome performance of "Down on the Border" live. Farnham has one of the greatest mind-blowing voices ever.
my partner took me to see jack jones in concert for our first date.. and being younger generation i still loved his music and voice... love him and john farnham
Glen has more class?..i'd prefer to see this hunk sweating all over me(oops i mean on stage) than Glen S..John Farham gave LRB an edge...and gorgeous to boot
Johnny is a fabulous singer - but not really a rock singer, nope, sorry, love you JF, just not a rock 'n' roll boy... I used to be approached by people when I was young who thought I was his sister!
Great song, those trademark harmonies so very tight. John Farnham's vocal performance is riveting and flawless... but when I read what TheBrassHole posted mentioning Angus, I think I nearly wet myself... ANGUS YOUNG doing lead on this song HOW AWESOME WOULD THAT BE ?
I guess you never saw "Glenn S" dressed in drag while he was dancing and imitating Tina Turner...or "Glenn S" doing a dead-on impersonation of Joe Cocker...complete with arm flailing and bad dancing?
OK, well, I DID see that embarrassing 'Man On Your Mind video'. Maybe Glenn S is more capable of goofiness than I realized. But I LOVE John Farnham's singing, he's an able replacement if you can't have Glenn S!
@FreeTheRocks Yeah, these Shorrock fanboys are beyond annoying and they are EVERYWHERE on the internet. Goble stated unequivocally this "No Reins" era lineup - with the superb Farnham - was the most dynamic and talented he worked with and Greaham was the creative engine behind that crew from day one. I think the energy was much about Farnhams vocals but also the fact Goble and Birtles unclenched their sphincters to let Housden do his magic.
@gruss1955 The best LRB lineup in my opinion: Farnham/Birtles/Goble/Nelson/Housden/Pellicci. Even if you replaced Farnham with Shorrock, you'd still have a good lineup.
I have heard on some YOu Tube clips sometime back that some people declared this an aweful song in Down Under ..... I like this song myself .... was this song disliked Down Under by the masses?
Saw these guy's in New Orleans when they released Playin to Win. Unbelievable! Perfect pitch vocally and sound mix all night made for a excellent concert. You had to be there. Playin to win is a great album, somewhat more rocking and not so commercial.
Damn, this dude has some pipes on him, man he can bring it. And Ric can flat out jam on the guitar, one of my favorite bands of alltime, even with all the lineup changes.
I think Steve is touring with the 'LRB....' in the USA these days. Not the original band, but they own the name. I bought a Stephen Housden solo album called 'New World Groove' recently, it was so bad that I threw it out - I wish he stuck to playing like he did in this clip.
People rave about how awesome the Beach Boys were... (and they were) but LRB deserves to be in the same category and standing.. those lead vocals and live harmonies... and catchy hooks, and musicianship... just AWESOME. Not to mention the songwriting.
Steve's playing a 1960 to 1963 Epiphone Coronet, made by Gibson. It has a single P-90pickup, and in a cherry finish, with a 3-ply white pickguard, that the "E" logo has worn off.
John Farnham was the best thing that ever happened to LRB

Can you imagine Glenn S gyrating and flailing around like this? They're both great singers, but Glenn has the class.

Only the deaf can't hear that.
And I mean that with no disrespect.

John Farnhan gave LRB possibly their greatest lead singer. And LRB gave John Farnham back his credibility.

I love Farnham, my sister had the privelege of meeting him - he is totally genuine and down to earth, he is the real deal and an Aussie icon.
That said, Glen Shorrock is the only real lead singer of LRB - without Shorrock it's just a bunch of guys jamming.

Yeah, he's good. :-)
What kind of guitar is he playing here? It looks a bit like an old Burns Bison, but it CAN'T be something that cut-rate.
Kirok 3 years ago
Most likely it's an old Maton guitar...probably custom made....and knowing Stephen it has Kinman pickups/electronics...:)
