This is poor science. Not only have they failed to demonstrate resonance, they have failed to consider different ways of constructing a bridge. Traditionally, the situation would be a large army of men marching in step over a stone bridge built with an arch; totally different to a single man bouncing on a beam construction. Mythbusters have disappointed me here.

As it began to sway people began to walk in step with each other because of it swaying and so the swaying increased. It did not collapse as they shut it down and strenghened it but the belief was that it would collapse. Up to 2000 people use the bridge at a time though.
it's called a marching cadence or marching song. it helps military personnel to concentrate on the cadence instead of on the mileage (normally we don't walk yards or feet).

civil engineers have already know how oscillation cause failure. i don't see the point of putting this on mythbusters. it's a problem thats already been fixed....

That's not what they proved, unless Adam suddenly gained 100 pounds during the test. He didn't increase the weight at all, he moved in rythm with the bridge THEN it broke.

Yeah this is silly. It has nothing to do with resonance in the bridge. This is a small bridge so the feet should have been scaled down also and stepping at a much higher rate. They should have used a sensor that detects when the wave comes back and trig a little mechanical foot to take a new step at the right time to keep building the pulse.
